《I'm A Krieger Harris》Chapter Twenty Three

- Paige's POV -

It's now February 13th, and I just got to Mal's house in Colorado. Her parents are letting me stay with them for a two weeks so I can visit Mal. We haven't seen each other physically since the team's last game day. I also have Coco, which she's a certified ESD, even though she is still a very young pup.

Mal's mom opens the door and tells me Mal is in her room. I walk upstairs quietly with my puppy and suitcase and Mal's door is open. I set Coco down and she runs into the room, but I stay out of sight. "Aww, where'd you come?" I hear Mal say in a cute voice. "Wait a minute, I know where you came from." She continues then I step into the doorway. "PAIGEY!" Mal yells as she sets Coco down on her bed gently before jumping on me when I enter the room. We share a kiss then she hops down. "Wait it's literally 6 in the morning, how are you here?" She asks with an adorable confused face. "I got on a flight at 2 something my time and got to Colorado a little over an hour ago." I say. "But that's really early." She whines. "I slept on the flight." I laugh at her cuteness. "Oh." She says. "Yeah, now finish getting ready for school, it's a Thursday." I say and she pouts before going into the bathroom.

Once she's ready for school and it's time for her to leave, I decide to drive her, but with the help of her directions obviously because I have no idea where the hell I am going.

"Have a good day. Love youuu." I draw out the end when she's getting out of the car. "I'll try, and I love you too." She says with a smile and I lean over the console and she leans down so we can share a kiss. "Bye!" I say. "Byee." She says and shuts her car door. I then pull off as she's walking into school, and somehow make my way back to the house without getting lost.

- Few Hours Later -

Mal's mom had to run some errands, so I was left alone with her dad, and to say the atmosphere was awkward, it would be an understatement. I'm sitting on the floor with Coco and playing with a twist toy with her, while her dad is sitting in a recliner with a random show playing on TV.

"So, Paige." Mr. Pugh says very seriously. "Yes sir?" I ask and look up. "What are your intentions with Mal?" He says and I go to speak but no words form. I know everything I want to say but I can't form words. "I... Uh... Uhm..." I stammer and his look kinda changes to a little bit of disappointment. "Sorry. That sometimes happens when I'm asked serious questions, even when I know what I'm going to say." I say. "Oh, then take your time." He says and gives a small smile. I just nod and get my shit together which takes a few seconds.

"My intentions with Mal are to love her no matter what for as long as I live. There's no one better for me than Mal. She's helped me heal and be a better person. I'm not just using her like other people probably would've, which she doesn't deserve. Mal deserves the world, which I feel bad that I can't give her that, sure there's other people out there that are definitely better for her than me, but I have the luck that she's chosen me. I want to be able to protect her and make sure she never gets hurt, well obviously besides our job because who knows what will happen because it's a sport... If I ever hurt her it's not intentionally and I'll do everything I can to make it up to her. I love your daughter more than anything and I love her with everything in me. I love her for her and I see her as her, not Mallory Pugh, the famous soccer player. I love and see her as Mallory Pugh, the young, sweet, kind, caring, and loving Coloradian." I say. "You're a good kid Paige. I'm more than happy that you're with my daughter, but if you do hurt her, I hurt you." He says. "I'll let you if I do." I say and we share a small laugh.

Soon it was time to get Mal from school, so I went and got her and we came back to the house. She keeps sighing and is a bit frustrated while doing homework.

"Babe, what's wrong?" I ask calmly. "This stupid and shitty calculus homework! I don't understand it!" She snaps before setting her pencil down, taking a deep breath, and turns in her chair to me. "Sorry. I just don't get it." She says. "What's the question you're on?" She reads me the question but I don't get what she's trying to say so I motion for the text book. I read it and tell her the answer before helping her figure out how I did it.

"And that's how you do that one." I say. "Hm... I think I get it now. Can you walk me through the next one?" She asks and I laugh. "Of course babe." I say. I walk her through it but don't give her the answers. As I tell her the steps, she starts figuring it out.

Once she finished her calculus, she did some American Government history thing before she asks me on a little date.

"Did you bring cleats with you?" She asks. "Yeah." I say. "Wait, we're gonna play soccer in the middle of February in Colorado?" I say, and she just nods with a smile. "I know you've barely kept up with your training since you didn't get called up and I don't want you giving up on soccer." She says. "I wasn't gonna give up..." I draw out as I grab my soccer stuff from my backpack. "Mhm." Mal hums.

Once we arrived at Highlands Heritage Park here in Highlands Ranch, we get out and walk to the soccer fields. There's some kids playing on some and there's a soccer game going on on another. There's like ten fields here but we just take the one closest to the walking path.

We ran through drills after warming up. We did alot of drills and we mainly just had fun. After a while, we just goofed off before starting a game of one on one, since I'm not only a goalkeeper.

I went to meg Mal bust our legs collide, which Mal starts falling towards the ground but I catch her and help her regain balance. We share a small kiss as we laugh. "Excuse me! Excuse me, you two can't be doing that!" We hear causing us to quickly pull apart. We look to our left to see a woman who looks to be in her late thirties. "And why can't we, ma'am?" Mal asks politely. "Don't get lippy with me." The woman says. "But she wasn't." I say. "Oh I realize who you two are. You think since you're famous you can do anything you want in a public setting, am I right?" She says. "No." Both Mal and I say. "Well apparently you do since you were just doing sexual things in front of children. You're also both setting bad examples seeing as you're gay." She says which pisses Mal off and catches me off guard. "And technically I'm sure the fields aren't open to the public when there's games happening." She continues. "That's not true. I've lived here in Highlands Ranch since I was little and always came to these fields." Mal says getting a bit annoyed. "Well there's children everywhere and you're being disgusting. I'm calling the police to get you both removed from the park." She says and steps closer to us as she pulls her phone out. "Ma'am there's no need for that." I say. "Yes there is. I'm calling them." She says and puts her phone to her ear. She talks to the police and I try to calm Mal down and she's not coming down.

"Babe, please. We'll just handle the situation and everything will be okay." I say. "No it won't be fine because this asshole called us disgusting for no fucking reason." She whispers. "Calm. Down." I say and take her hands in mine. "Alright, police are on their way." The woman says.

We wait until the cops show up, which two cops come out. "Hello, we had a report of two individuals needing to be removed from the fields?" One of the guys ask and I kinda get behind Mal and closer to her as they approach because I don't trust guys or cops unless I know them. "Yes, these two. I happened to notice them doing sexual things while messing around on this field. There are tons of children around and they don't need to be seeing any of that. Especially since they're gay. That's a bad example." The woman tells them. "Well who are these- Oh hello Mal." The other cop says. "Hey Ty." Mal says. "Were you two doing sexual actions on the field?" The other cop asks. "No. We were literally playing one on one and our legs collided when I was trying to get the ball." Mal starts. "She was going to hit the ground but I caught her and helped her regain balance and we laughed while sharing a tiny kiss then heard her yell at us." I finish. "That's not what it looked like." The woman says. "Oh you homoph-" "Mal." Officer Ty and I both say and she stops. The woman explained what it looked like but we fought against it and nobody technically won since the police told all three of us to leave the grounds.

Mal took me to dinner to make up for it and we went back to her place before going to bed and cuddling while watching TV.
