"Let's date"
Kyle's eyes shot open and he sat up quickly "What?!" Kyle exclaimed as he looked at Kenny, anger, and horror mixing on his face. "Let me be clearer. Let's fake date to get back at Stan." Kenny explained, letting Kyle relax. "Well, maybe...but I thought you liked Butters ?" Kyle mumbled as a small blush coated Kenny's cheeks. "I do! But I want to help you." Kenny said. "I'll think about it." Was all Kyle said before closing his eyes. "I'm going to bed, I'll see you on Monday Kenny?" He asked. "Yep, don't forget to tell me your decision! Bye Kyle!" Kenny said as he left.
Kyle let out a sigh as Kenny left, laying back in his bed again. He didn't have the mental capacity to think about Kenny's offer right now, his mind filling up with Stan and self-hatred. He loved him so much, what would he have done without him by his side? They did everything together! They had almost all the same classes and sat near each other; he would be too hard to avoid. Closing his eyes, the self-hatred finally disappeared and his mind filled with Stan. As he fell asleep, Kyle only had one thing on his mind, and a million other things in his heart.
"Kyle!"
Kyle turned around to see Stan running towards him. Before Kyle could even greet him back, he was scooped up into Stan's arms. He laughed as Stan spun him around. Once he was sat down Kyle was still giggling. "What's got you in such a good mood?" He asked as Stan grabbed his hand, rubbing his thumb against his skin. "I'm just excited for our date!" Stan said, a blush covering his cheeks. "Well aren't you sweet, I'm excited too." Kyle hummed, kissing Stan's cheek. "Can you tell me where we're going though?" He added his question quickly, in hopes of tricking his boyfriend, but Stan smirked. "Nice try but I'm not telling you." Stan said and Kyle jokingly pouted. "C'mon, let's get walking." Stan said, and Kyle nodded.
As they walked Stan, and Kyle talked about anything they could, but mainly they were quiet, enjoying each other's presence. "Kyle, I need you to close your eyes for this." Stan said, breaking the calm they were in. "Seriously?" Kyle asked, but listened anyways. Stan grabbed his hands gently and began leading him somewhere. Kyle heard the icy grass crunch beneath his feet and he was brought to a halt. "You ready?" Stan asked, a hint of nervousness in his voice as Kyle nodded. "Open your eyes Ky."

When Kyle opened his eyes, he immediately realized the area as Starks Pond, except there were lights hanging up on the trees and a picnic table was set up under one. The table had blankets, a picnic basket, and a bouquet on it. "Stan...this is so beautiful..." Kyle said, looking in awe at everything. "I spent like 4 hours preparing this for you.." Stan whispered in his ear, and Kyle shivered. Turning around, Kyle pulled Stan into a kiss, smiling as he did. "Thank you, no one has ever done anything like this for me before. I love it, I love you." Kyle said as they pulled away. Stan froze and looked at Kyle, a wide smile, then crossed his face. "I love you too!" Stan said, pulling Kyle into another kiss. This was the first time they had told each other they had loved each other as a couple. Kyle's heart fluttered as he and Stan held each other close.
Kyle felt whole.
Later that night, Stan had gotten a promise ring; he promised to never leave Kyle's side. Kyle promised to never take it off.
Kyle woke up with his heart heavy. His dream of Stan brought more grief than he thought. He didn't feel like moving and he didn't feel like talking. Kyle tried to fall back asleep, but it wouldn't work. As he looked at the ceiling, he let his tears flow. He loved Stan so much, what had he done wrong? He curled into a ball, crying harder than ever. Kyle couldn't do anything about what happened; he knew that. He couldn't change the past and he couldn't change how Stan feels. That doesn't mean he couldn't cry about it.
A harsh knock on the front door made him quickly wipe his tears. "Oh hello Stanley, how are you? Oh that's good, and how's your mother? Very good, well Kyle's in his room right now but he might not be awake yet. Alright, you boys be good now." Sheila said. Kyle could hear Stan walking up the stairs; he quickly pretended to be asleep. The door opened gently and Stan walked into the room. He shook Kyle on the shoulder, "I know you're not asleep. Get up." Stan's voice wasn't harsh, but it wasn't calm either. Kyle sat up and looked him in the eyes, he knew what he was. He was angry. Mouth turned down, nose slightly scrunched, he'd seen this expression many times when Stan talked about his father. He'd hardly ever had that expression when talking to Kyle, but it didn't hurt as much as he thought it would. "Why the fuck would you key my car?" Stan asked, eyes burning into Kyle's soul. "Well hello to you to Stanley." Kyle said, but Stan didn't budge. "Why did you key my car?" Stan asked again, and Kyle crossed his arms.

"You deserved it." Kyle explained. "What the fuck? That cost money!" Stan yelled. "Boo hoo go cry to your girlfriend about it!" Kyle yelled back, and Stan flinched at that. "Wendy's not my girlfriend, but, speaking of Wendy. You broke her nose." Stan said, and Kyle let out a small chuckle. "How the fuck is that funny?!" "You both got what you deserved." Kyle said, standing up. "Why are you acting like such a dick?" Now that made Kyle mad, he didn't deserve to be yelled at. "I'm the dick?! You were seeing someone else for 3 fucking years! If anyone is a dick it's you! I didn't even get an explanation of why, you just did it!" Kyle huffed.
"You're just being irrational!" Stan yelled and Kyle almost started swinging. "I am being completely rational! I deserve to know why! After wasting 4 years, maybe more, in a one sided relationship. I deserve to know.." Kyle yelled, fighting back tears of anger. Stan got quiet, did he not have a reason? Kyle scoffed. "Get out." Kyle mumbled, pulling himself into a hug. Stan's hand almost reached out for him, like he wanted to comfort him, but he quickly pulled it back. "I'm sorry..." Was all Stan mumbled before leaving.
Kyle let his knees hit the floor as he held himself tighter, harsh sobs racking through him. "Kyle, bro, what was that abo-'' Ike walked into the room but paused when he saw Kyle. Ike dropped everything and quickly went to hug him. Kyle tried to fight it, tried to just tell Ike to go back to his room, but the 12 year old wouldn't listen, instead just holding his brother closer.
A month had gone by without Stan and Kyle by each other's side. Kyle felt like an empty shell when he walked through the hallway. Anytime something would happen in class Kyle would wait by his locker for Stan to come by; then he'd remember that he and Stan weren't together anymore and he'd slowly walk to his next class. Kenny said that Stan would sometimes go to Kyle's locker room, but Kyle just scoffed. Every now and then Kenny would bring up him and Kyle dating, and the more Kyle watched Stan and Wendy, the more he considered it. But, the day Wendy walked in with hickeys around her neck was the day Kyle made his decision.
"Hey Kenny?" Kyle said, making Kenny look up from his sandwich, "Yeah Kyle?" He asked. "Let's date." Kenny looked at him, a smirk coming across his face. "I thought you'd never ask. So what are we doing? Holding hands? Kissing? Making out? Flirting? Ooorr basically everything and ,if you want, more." Kenny said with a wink and a flush came over Kyle's face. "No, no, no. Only the first things you listed, nothing more." Kyle said, shaking his head. "So you're willing to make out with me Broflovski?" and Kyle gave a small nod. "I mean, yeah, it has to be authentic right?" Kyle asked and Kenny gave a hum as the bell rang. "Well, let's get going," Kenny leaned over and kissed Kyle's cheek, "Babe." Kenny hummed, enjoying how Kyle's face turned a slight pink.
"Yeah, cmon let's go."

Stairway to Heaven
Humans are complicated, awfully fragile beings, far too weak to survive amid the other extraterrestrials that lie dormant across the galaxies. Instead of physical altercations, they would rather engage in verbal abuse, breaking an individual's psyche as a hobby. They excel at deception and manipulation, far too interested in bringing their brothers and sisters down and reaching for the top of their self-made hierarchies. Beyond their questionable nature and moral compasses, they long to find meaning in their lives and put names to the feelings that drive each passing moment. They are insatiable—far too greedy for more knowledge and a supposed understanding of their lives. It's pitiable, really, the way they struggle to find themselves while ravaging their kind through petty wars and conflicts built off of misunderstanding. Humans are complicated, awfully fragile beings. They created words and languages to fill the holes that lived inside their souls, desperate for ways to find meaning in their incredibly short lifespans. They'll waste their entire lives trying to find their so-called passions and reasons for living, acting as if they truly rule the way their lives go, supposed "controllers of their own destiny." Yet, they cannot evade the inevitable visit from death, who stands next to them, ticking the seconds down until their demise.

The Core of a Factory
An abandoned steampunk arms factory, in the middle of a conflict torn former state of the Empire it served, gains a soul. This transforms it into a Lord, capable of turning land into power. Beset by enemies on all sides it must figure out how to win the war its creators lost a century ago. This is a progressive Dungeon Core novel (which is to say the core will progress and expand in scale, eventually) across multiple dimensions with different characteristics (e.g. steampunk, magic, mythological). It has rationalist leanings (paragraphs of reasoning) and litrpg leanings (there are stat blocks). The core game mechanical idea is something like "what if different flavors of magic power actually did come from controlling land" and then the story is: "what if there was a flavorless (artifact deck) dungeon core". Chapters will be relatively short (my aim is that in three column format each would fit on a wide screen monitor), the first few chapters - setting up the main character and mechanics - are currently the longest in the entire series. I write chapters in blocks, and then release them one a weekday (M-F; 6 PM GMT, unless RoyalRoad's publish thing screws up) until I run out. There may be a few days of gaps here and there if someone finds an egregious error I have to re-write around or if I am behind. In general though one can read this once a weekend. I may do slight retconns and edits, I'll make sure to put it in an authors note if I do.
