《The Witch Twins Mother》Two

"Mother?" Alec asks "do you consider me and Jane freaks?" I stop what I'm doing to look at me son.
"Of course not" I go over to him "Why would you think that?"
"I over heard the other children in the village say you only took us in because our parents didn't want us and that we're twins to begin with" a tear escapes his eye, I wipe it away.
"Alec listen to me" he does "you and your sister are my kids not because I took pity on you both but because I love you both so much" I met their mother and she was more than willing to get rid of the twins "in my eyes you and Jane are perfect just the way you both are" he nods his head and I bring my son into a hug, but for some reason I feel like someone is watching me.
"Mother?" Jane soon comes in
"Jane" I wave her over and she comes over, I hug her too "I love you kids so much, never forget"
"We love you too" they both say at the same time, to others it might be freaky but to me it's normal.
I'm on my way home getting this herb that only grows in the water, as I walk home I get on edge when I hear some a few cracks in the tree branch. I look around, I quickly turn around and bump into James. James Thatcher, the son of the mayor.
"Annika" he smiles "so glad to run into you"
"Really?" I ask blandly "here in the middle of the woods?"
"Yes" flashing a smile that gets all the other woman in our village but me or Jane "I was just on my way home from a hunt" but I see him with no hunting gear.

"Oh really?" raising my eyebrow "then where's your hunting bow? Hmm?" his smile falters when I point out he doesn't have anything with him. I go to move "if you'll excuse me" he grabs my upper arm hard and then pushes me against a tree. he keeps my wrists above me head as I smell his drunken breath.
"You know" he whispers in my ear "that husband of yours could never satisfy a woman like yourself" with his other hand he pulls the side of my skirt up, I soon knee him in the balls. When he falls over I leave my basket and make a run for it, I make it only a few feet before I'm tackled to the ground.
I struggle to get away from James, I bite his hand soon and he punches me in the face breaking my nose. Just as he goes to undo his pants, he's ripped from me and I watch as the man Caius bits into his neck making James scream. When James stops screaming Caius pulls away and James drops to the ground, I check his pulse and see he's dead
Looking at Caius who is now mere inches from my face, his eyes that were red for a mere second from when he bit into James is now black. I flinch when he touches my face, but he's unfazed. It's like he just wishes to make sure I'm physically fine.
He takes out a cloth and cleans up the blood that drips down from when James punched me in the face, when he pulls back he helps me stand. "You shouldn't be in the woods alone" I continue to stare at him.
"You...you just" waving to a dead James "he's"
"Don't worry" he whispers in my ear "soon" then I feel a gust of wind and I'm left alone in the woods with a dead James.

Witness the dawn of an era. 🧙🧙🧙 This is a story I'd written a few years back, and I figured it's a waste to just let it sit around. Most of it is already written, but I'm going through the chapters and editing the shit out of them. This story is NOT a Lit-RPG, so no blue screens or anything of the sort. It is just fast-paced fiction with slight cultivation elements. Updates are bi-daily (so every 2 days), and chapters are 1500-3000 words. As always, feedback is more than welcome. Why are you still reading the synopsis? You have already decided. Go ahead, give this story a shot. It's worth it.
