《second best // dnf》25. The Bar

"Guys," Sapnap said, "We need a favour."
I began, "So, George isn't in the best place at the moment and he's going through a lot, we were hoping that maybe you guys or all of us could do something to cheer him up a bit."
"I KNOW WHAT TO DO!" Quackity yelled, "Let's go to a bar!"
"Noooo, that's a stupid idea!" I whined, "I don't wanna go to a bar! I can barely walk!"
"Oh come on George! You deserve a bit of fun!" Sapnap drawled.
Dream looked unsure. But everyone else seemed to think it was a great idea. To be honest, I'd rather stay in bed. My boyfriend cheated on me and now they want to go to a bar. How stupid. However, I knew they were never going to let me stay home on my own so I had no other choice.
"Fine, I'll go," I decided, "But I'm not drinking!"
"Deal!" Sapnap cheered.

We all put on some smart-ish clothes for tonight. I do want to go, I think it will be fun, I just don't think it's the best thing for George, but Sapnap and the rest of the boys think it will be good for him. Though, I can't imagine that Bad will want to come out tonight either, but there is no doubt that Karl and Quackity will force him to come.
The time was exactly 7:00pm when we left the house, George got in the front with me as we sped off down town. Karl, Bad and Quackity were waiting for us outside the bar. I could already hear the music blasting from inside.
The six of us entered the bar after they checked our IDs and we sat down at a table. I glanced at George, he looked miserable.

The bar reeked of alcohol, the music was deafening and the whole place was just packed with sweaty low-lifes. It was sickening. I perched down on a chair, beside Dream and Bad. We hadn't been in the bar for ten minutes when Quackity came over with an armful of beers for everyone. He handed them out one by one, I thanked him even though I knew for sure that I wasn't going to drink it.
To no one's surprise, Quackity had already chugged down two beer bottles after about thirty minutes and he was currently fooling around, drunk on the dancefloor with people that I've never seen in my life. Sapnap had drank about a bottle and a half but I had no idea where he was. Karl, who was slightly drunk, was chatting with the young, female bartender.
I was still sat at the same table and Bad and Dream were still at my side. Dream had sipped away probably about half of his bottle and seemed to keep going, I imagined he was on the verge of being drunk. However, Bad and I hadn't touched our alcohol yet.
"So you don't drink either huh?" Bad said, boredly.
"Nah," I repied, fiddling with my crutches, "I prefer not to poison my body," Bad laughed and I smiled.
Then, Dream slung his arm around my shoulder. I looked up at him: if he wasn't drunk earlier, he was 100% drunk now. He sort of leant into me, I assume it was supposed to be affectionate, but I didn't like it.
I shifted uncomfortably under his grip; I peeled his arm off of my shoulder and pursed my lips together. Dream didn't do anything.
My gaze travelled around the bar: Quackity was still dancing; Karl and Sapnap were now sat down together, while Sapnap looked very bored, Karl was laughing a lot at everything he said.

I poked Bad and chuckled, "Is Karl flirting with Sapnap?!" We both exploded into giggles while Dream drank more of his beer. He stank of alcohol; it was disgusting.
Dream had finished his beer bottle and as he stood up, he asked me, "Can I get you anything to drink?"
"Oh um just some water please, if you don't mind," I replied and he staggered off to get the refreshments.
I then saw Sapnap comimg in my direction so I reached for my crutches and stood up, wobbily.
I greeted him, "Hey Sapnap, you having fun?-"
Before I even had a chance to realise what Sapnap was doing, I heard Dream's voice from across the bar, "GET THE HELL AWAY FROM HIM!"

His eyes had turned bloodshot and his hands shook with rage. “The first thirty…” “Shut up!” Genzo bellowed “How dare you help these disrespectful gaijin?” Flecks of spit and madness flew from his face, his fist raised ready to strike. But Emi did not flinch, instead she was about ready to continue when Yuma Takeuchi interrupted her. “Uchida, please,” her sweet sounding words could melt ice. “I think we will have a better chance of getting home if we all work together.” When she glanced up with her sleepy looking eyes at Genzo Uchida he deflated visibly. “Were not getting home.” Uchida said coolly. “Group summoning, large, that puts us in the 60 series. No one came to greet us after five minutes of arrival. That leaves scenarios 68 and 69. In scenario 68 there is something that binds the large group together; they are all classmates or a single family. But thanks to the gaijin” he spit out the word “I think we are scenario 69 with no way home.” Ikko Inoue’s eyes went wide, while Katsukno and Hayata started muttering to themselves. Tim took on a serious look and rubbed his scruffy chin. Emi maintained her stoic expression while trying to find something to refute. McKenzie glanced at Randall and giggled. Randall took the prompting of his teammate and followed up by approaching Genzo. “Uh, so we are in a sixty-nine?” “Yes.” Replied Genzo with the seriousness of someone who’s life was about to end. McKenzie covered her mouth and snickered. “You and me, were stuck in a sixty-nine situation?” Randall pushed with a grin. “Yes, we are all stuck in a sixty-nine scenario together!” Genzo retorted in anger. McKenzie fell on her butt laughing. “What the hell is so funny?” Demanded Genzo, whose face had turned red. “It’s a problem with the automatic translation.” Retorted Tim. Randall, who seemed unable to quit started in again “So, about this sixty-ni…” Genzo interrupted Randall with a swift punch to the face. But, because of their height difference it was a bit of an uppercut that left Randall rattled. Tim and Ikko moved to step in between the two, but Genzo showed no further hostility. Instead he just stared at his clenched fist with such intensity it grabbed the attention of the room. “I unlocked a skill.” He said bluntly. ***************************** This is not a light novel, but people who like light novels should enjoy the themes of this book. ***************************** A Map of the Region

This concept of the book came about from having two mild heart attacks and the regrets of not being more active in my younger life.
