《Freaks & Geek》Chapter 12: Self Aware

Harlow showered, brushed and moisturized before heading downstairs to the living room. The guys were all there in pajama pants and no shirts. She thought to herself as she sat in between Wes and Val. "I had fun carrying you tonight. Aries can't wait to get his chance." Wes smiled. "Wait! I get to ride you!?" Harlow said excitedly before she heard herself and covered her mouth. Wes chuckled happily. "Princess, you get to ride me whenever you want."
Harlow shook her head and shoved him before pulling him close and onto her lips. Wes was somewhere in between dominant and gentle, but it was sweet overall. As was the trend, she felt the same feelings of security and happiness along with butterflies the size of unicorns.
"I really like you," Harlow whispered out before opening her eyes to see blue ones. "I really like all of you." She said looking at Val and Damien. "I had a really good talk with a friend that offered perspective on us and I'm glad I took her advice, because I know now that I don't want my fears and insecurities to get in the way of a good thing."
They stared at her and waited on baited breath. "This is all ridiculously fast paced, but I'm going to go with it. So, if you'll have me, I'll love to be your wife or girlfriend or mate...you know what I'm trying to say!" Val was the first to pull her into his lap and kiss her speechless.
Wes cupped her face before pulling her into his kiss. Damien sat back and watched it all unfold. "Wait," Harlow said pushing them back. "I have contingencies. I want to know everything about you three whether it be supernatural or not. I think that no relationship can work without being open and honest."
They nodded in agreement. 'We need to tell her.' Wes said through mind link. 'We will, but first let's just enjoy the fact that our mate is finally and officially ours.' Val said cheerfully. "I hate being lied to," Harlow started. "So, you can imagine how hurt I was when I found out about you Val." He looked at her confusedly. "What are you talking about, querida?" Harlow looked at him with angry sad eyes. "Lydia." It was all she said but Val could tell she read the shame and fear in his eyes.
Wes shook his head knowing that something like this would happen for Damien and Val. It wasn't easy being a virgin for as long as he had been, but he knew that his mate would find him eventually and he did not want to break her heart by knowing he'd been with another.
"Il mio amore (My love), Lydia means nothing. Everyone before you means nothing to me. I'm so sorry that you had to find out the way you did, but there's nothing going on between us." Harlow looked down at her fingers before looking back at him. "Does she know that? Does she know that whatever you had is done, because in orientation it seemed like she didn't?"
Val sighed loudly before stroking her cheek. "She knows, but I will reiterate the message. No one matters to me except the people in this room. You are my one true love, querida. You're it for me." Harlow could tell he was being sincere and nodded.

"Do either of you have any girlfriends or exes I need to worry about?" Wes shook his head happily. "Nope. I'm a virgin, Princess and have never had a girlfriend. I've always been yours." Harlow's eyes widened. "What?! How?! You're so freaking hot!" He chuckled before pulling her close. "You're the hot one and well worth the wait."
She couldn't help but smile at him before turning to Damien. "You are all that matters, dove. Never let fear or doubt tell you any different." Harlow took in his words, but noticed how he didn't answer the question. "Let's go to bed. I feel like having a slumber party," she wiggled her eyebrows moving to get up, but Val held her still. "We need to tell you something, dove." Damien said with a seriousness that she felt didn't fit the mood.
Alistair jumped on the couch looking at them. "This is a bad idea." He said looking at Harlow. "What's a bad idea?" She asked him, but he simply climbed into her lap. "You know that Alistair is not a normal cat, obviously. He's actually a demon shifter who resides as a cat for your comfort." Harlow lifted Alistair and looked in his eyes. "Is that true?" Alistair's eyes turned a blood red. "Yes Mama," he said in his demonic voice. "Oookay," Harlow said placing him back on her lap trying to digest the information.
"Mortals don't get demon cats, Harlow. Cats are usually familiars, but a demon cat is preserved for the few demons that are part witch. Harlow blinked at him a few times trying to piece together what he was saying. "What are you trying to say to me, Damien?" He let out a breath trying to find the words.
"Your father is a well-known demon in Hell and your mother was ½ angel and ½ witch. The voices that you hear in your head are actually your angel Ayla and your demon Kali." Wes said ripping off the proverbial band-aid.
Harlow blinked rapidly as her mind tried to wrap around the things they were saying. She thought frantically. "No, I'm human. I'm a regular degular boring Black woman who loves anime and Italian food and happens to be an excellent programmer."
Wes held her hand drawing her focus to him. "You also happened to be mated to three of the most powerful supernatural creatures on the planet. You have a talking demonic cat and you have the power to manifest things that you say or wish for. You're supernatural, Princess."
They could see she was spiraling as her breathing became erratic. "Dove, breathe for me." Damien said kneeling in front of her. He moved to reach for her but she pulled away. "How long have you known about this? Why didn't you tell me the second you found out?" The men shared a look.
"We weren't sure if telling you was the right thing. It has just been a lot too fast and too soon. We were trying to protect you, but we realized we didn't want to lie to you anymore." Val said trying to rub her back and comfort her but she pulled away and stood up with Alistair in her arms.
"This is unbelievable! I'm normal. I'm human. My mom was Harper Allen who owned a flower shop and was also normal and plain and regular. My dad is Henry Allen who was shit for leaving, but of what I can remember he was regular and plain as well. Now you're telling me that not only are they both supernatural, but they've made me this ultra-supernatural creature." She said frantically as she paced the living room.

She racked her mind for childhood memories that would have given anything away. "Why don't I have powers like you guys?" Damien looked at Val and Wes. "No! Don't do that! None of this speaking with your eyes and recreating scenes from Get Out."
"Your parents cloaked your supernatural powers, so that's why your angel and demon aren't able to come out because your father cloaked those aspects of your DNA. When your mother died her cloaking over your witch side was lifted and your powers are getting stronger every day. You simply wish something or say something and it comes to pass. There aren't many witches that powerful that a spell or incantation isn't needed to make magic happen." Damien informed sadly.
Harlow was pissed. Her parents had lied to her. Her mother had put on a charade her entire life even to her dying breath. Her father had left her as a half ass demon with no care as to how she'd turn out or need him to guide her when the truth eventually came out. The anger the stirred in her was unworldly. Alistair jumped out of her hands as he could feel the demonic power rising within her. "Harlow, dove, I need you to calm down."
"DON'T TELL ME TO FUCKING CALM DOWN!" Kali yelled and it stunned them. There standing in front of them was Harlow for one second and Kali another. They fizzled in and out like bad reception, but Damien had seen her. There was a rage in Kali's black eyes that he knew only her mates could put out.
Bael took over and stood in front of the fizzling Kali and Harlow. "Kali, my love we need you to relax please. This is too much for Harlow and I know you don't want to hurt her." Bael tried to reason with her. "I'm so angry!" Kali cried. "How could they do this to us?"
Bael pulled her into his embrace and rubbed her back. "I'm sorry my love." Kali wanted to hold onto her rage, but it was proving impossible being in Bael's embrace. "Kiss me before I'm locked away." She smirked pulling him into her and crashing against his lips. It wasn't interesting anymore seeing Bael.
Wes and Val were used to his onyx skin and red markings, but seeing Kali in front of them was extraordinary. Her skin was no longer a dark chocolate, but a vibrant red hue. She had markings similar to Bael, but hers were black instead of red. They seemed perfect for one another.
Bael knew the moment Kali had left as the kiss shifted to one less emotive but potent all the same. He was worried about kissing Harlow. He didn't want her to recoil or be disgusted, but as she pulled back and gave him a sad smile, he knew she cared for him just as much as she did Damien.
"I just blacked out. What happened?" Bael sighed while he caressed her cheek. "Kali took over for a little bit. Those times that you've blacked out in your past it was her taking over. However, this was the first time she has shown her true form."
Harlow nodded her head. She was beyond exhausted. This was too much information and in a short amount of time. She couldn't believe her parents would hide this from her. All the times she felt crazy or lost or out of control there was a reason.
The sadness washed over her with a vengeance and in that moment, it started to pour. The lightning snapped their gaze from her forlorn one to the window. 'Is she doing this?' Val asked concerned. 'I think so.' Wes said looking back at his mate.
"I'm going to go to bed now." Harlow said dejectedly. "Querida, it's going to be okay. We're going to figure it out together we promise." She wanted to smile at him. She wanted to tell him she believed him, but her heart was broken. She simply just turned around and went up the stairs. "I told you this would be a shit show!" Alister hissed before running up the stairs and into their room.
"We did the right thing," Bael said strongly. "Did we? Because it looks like our mate is having a nervous breakdown because of us!" Wes exclaimed rubbing his large hands through his thick sandy blond hair.
"Can you take her to see her father?" Val asked after a moment. "Absolutely not." Bael stated sternly. "I don't know the type of man Henry Allen is, but Beelzebub is one of the harshest demons. I'm not going to subject her to that when he may not even consider her his daughter."
They all huffed trying to think on how they can resolve the situation. "Tonight was so good until it wasn't." Val said thinking back to their kisses. "Everything will work out for the best. We're going to be there for her and help her get through this." Wes declared with a small smile.
"I think she should stay home tomorrow. She needs a day to just breathe a bit." Val stated earning nods from them. Bael waved his hand before looking at them. "It's done." Wes quirked an eyebrow. "What did you do?"
"I turned off the alarm on her phone and left a note saying she was free to play hokey and relax by going to the spa downtown. Left my black card beside her bed." Val nodded impressed. "Look at you romancing the fuck out of our girl. I'm proud of you, Bael."
The demon huffed before saying his goodbyes and allowing Damien to take over. "Come on, let's get some sleep." They each walked up the stairs and went to check on her. Val wished they hadn't as they listened to their mate cry in the darkness as Alistair tried to comfort her.
'We'll get her through this.' Damien spoke through their mind link. 'I can't take this. When she cries like this I don't know how to breathe.' Wes said brokenly. 'We'll fix it. Come on let's get some sleep.' Val said trying to get away from hearing Harlow's sobs.
They each made it to their bedrooms and laid down thinking on their mate. Every room in the mansion was sound proof except for hers. They wanted to always here her and anticipate her needs, but as they listened to the sound of her crying all they wanted to do was go back in time and right the wrongs done to her.
