《THE LOOK OF A SILVER FOX✅》Part 28

All kinds of thoughts ran through my mind. I felt humiliated, dissapointed. But I also felt like I don't have the right to feel that. Everything I did I also did fully knowing that I am not the only one, in fact, that I am not a number one in this story. I was always a side character here, never the main one.

And it wasn't about 'love'. Because what really triggered me to do this was lust, not love.

It was about my pride, my ego that was always high enough and now I'm watching it crush in front of my eyes. And that fucking hurts.

"Rough day? “ a kind voice woke me up from my thoughts. I do that a lot. Escape from reality in my mind.

I puffed out the smoke of the cigarette and smiled as I noticed a familiar face. Nick. Always a perfect timing.

" Life, I'd say. Rough life. "

He nodded. "Do you mind?" he looked at the empty spot on the bench beside me. I nodded. "Not at all."

He sat beside me and for a few seconds we just stared in front of us in silence. It doesn't feel awkward at all. Weird.

"I didn't know you smoke."

I was a bit surprised over his choice of words so I giggled: " Sometimes. When I feel like smoking, you know." I offered him a cigarette but he refused and nodded:"Yeah, I know. Listen, would you feel like going to a party with me tomorrow?"

I was taken aback with his question.

"Woah, chill. We didn't even have a coffee yet."

He recognised the sentence and laughed: "I know, I know. But you're very... chill. And I really want someone who will help me get through those fake grining faces."

I shrugged, unsure: "What kind of party is it?"

“Just a regular, fancy one. You know with all those rich people who brag about their success and wealth. Boring to be honest."

" How come you're invited? Are you like rich RICH as well?"

He smiled again, showing off those cute dimples. I love his dimples. "Long story. So, you coming?"

"If it's that bad, why would I go with you?"

He crossed his arms and sighed:"Well. I make a very good company and there's always a very delicious food. I've made a good friendship with the chef. Totally pays off."

Good food really has a special affect on me. Food in general does, to be honest. Also, a little party won't hurt. Especially now. I observed Nick and remembered how fucking hot he is.

"You had me at food. When is it? "

He smiled wide:" Great! God, thank you! It starts around 8 p.m. I could pick you up around 8.30 if you're okay with that?"

His cute reaction to me agreeing on going with him made me genuinely happy. He made me feel important.

"Okay, fine. 8.30 it is. What should I wear?"

"Whatever you feel comfortable in. Some wear jeans, some those long night dresses, some short skirts... It's really up to you. I'll just wear a white shirt and some elegant-ish pants. No pressure, really."

"Okay." As I said that, my phone started to vibrate. The horror of seeing Eric's number on the screen triggered a horrible anxiety in my stomach. I hesitated to grab my phone out of my pocket.

"Answer it, I do have to go home anyway. I'll text you on instagram for tomorrow, okay?" he got up and I nodded. As he was walking away, I slowly picked up my phone and the tension quickly left my body.

"Fuck, Nina. I'm so glad it's you!"

"Bitch, who did you expect it to be? Of course it's me. I hope you haven't forgotten about our plan tonight."

"Our plan?"

"Yes, our plan in about an hour. We're supposed to go party tonight!"

Shit, I forgot.

"Shit, yes, yes, of course. It's still on, don't worry. I'm about to wrap it here so I'll be home soon. I'll call you when I'm home."

"Okay, good. See you later."

I did have to go back in and take my stuff as well as lock the doors in my office. After Eric said all those things to me, I just grabbed my SOS cigarettes and stormed out. Now I have to go back.

I went back and grabbed my bag and my jacket as quickly as I could, hoping I won't cross my path with Eric. Just not today, please.

I opened the doors to leave my office and I saw Eric walking towards my office. I turned around to quickly lock the doors with intention to run away after but I was too slow. Obviously.

"Emily, we have to talk." his deep voice echoed in my ears and suprisingly the only effect he had on me, caused a huge resistance in my body. I just wanted him far away from me.

But before I answered 'Okay' something clicked in my brains, so I turned around to face him and said: "Yes, mr. Hart, we do. I quit. Where do I sign?"
