Nothing Like Us
"Yoongs! Look they have a cake!"
Now, the four's presence were acknowledged by some of the people inside the room, thanks to Hoseok's loud giggles. Though the crowd were more interested on Jimin and Taehyung.
"Hobi hyung, keep it down, it's just a cake." Namjoon kindly scolded him, but Hoseok was still hyped, just a bit calmer this time.
"But it's a birthday cake. Yoongi hyung, next time buy me a cake too." he pleaded with a matching pout, but Yoongi acted he was disgusted, although he didn't actually mind.
"Well I thought you said you hated 'gayish' actions like this on school."
"But look at those two, they look so cute together, now I want a cake myself." Hoseok then turned to Jungkook and gave him a questioning stare. "You're quite close to Taehyung right? Are Taehyung and that transfer student dating?"
As he was asking, Namjoon gave Hoseok a slap on the tummy, telling him to 'be sensitive'.
"His relationship with Taehyung is still complicated. Remember that poor boy thinking that Jungkook had feelings for him? But too bad for him, Kook is probably the manliest out of us four here."
"I am manly too." Hoseok argued, but he flinched after Yoongi draped his arm unto his shoulder and pinched his right cheek.
"Really? Tell me about the pocky game on valentines day two years ago."
"H-Hyung!"
The two laughed, except for Hoseok who was hiding his blushing face behind his palm and for Jungkook who looked confused as heck.
"Why? What happened?" the youngest asked, trying to catch up with the information he didn't know.
Yoongi coughed before removing himself from Hoseok and standing up straight. "You see, two years ago on valentines day, Hoseok didn't understand the mechanics of the game and-"
"It was an accident! Namjoon pushed me!"
"Okay, I'm still confused." Jungkook confessed as he scratched his hair with his free hand. Noticing this, Namjoon quickly stopped his laughter and began explaining.
"We were having fun back then. Hoseok and Yoongi got paired and apparently, Hoseok thought the mechanics of the pocky game was to kiss your partner, so he eagerly laughed himself to finish the stick."
"I don't know why he was making such a big deal about it, it was just a peck." Yoongi continued. "But even so, we won the buffet so it was kinda worth it."
"Yoongi and I might be bisexual but Hoseok here prefers girls more, but we absolutely respect one another." Namjoon nodded as he spoke. "And don't worry kook, we're bros and we wouldn't just leave a friend just because something weird happened to them or anything."

"T-Then why... when Taehyung confronted me, you were looking at me with 'weirded' out looks?" Jungkook asked out of confusion. Half of himself was trying to know some answers while the other half was trying to distract himself from the fact that his ex boyfriend was having a sweet time with Jimin.
"It's just that I never would've thought that you and that Taehyung guy would be close." Yoongi shrugged as he confessed. Then he looked at the center of the crowd once more, eyeing Taehyung. "But looking at him now, having fun and stuff, who knew that smiling out of joy could make you less annoying?"
Jungkook leaned back at the wall and began to question more. "Before you told me that you didn't like how weird he is."
Namjoon stopped Yoongi from speaking and continued, since all three of them shared the same opinions anyway. "Yeah, that was because his feelings seemed fake. His every laugh seemed forced as if he was restraining himself from something and it weirded us out. Though right now, as if everything fake from him was gone. His smile, his laughter, everything seems genuine."
'It was all because of me.' Jungkook thought.
Everything, why Taehyung was labeled as a weirdo was not just about his normal personality. But also because of the fact that everybody else saw him as 'fake' because of his actions, and what caused this fake actions were Jungkook himself.
"I need to go somewhere, I'll catch up with you guys later!"
Realizing this, Jungkook gripped the paper bag in his hands and ran off to one place he knew he needed to go right now.
The Janitor's Closet.
If Taehyung would feel any remorse and decides to visit that place for today, he'll be glad and feel thankful. But if not, he would just leave his gift there and hope, hope that Taehyung would at least visit the place. If not today, maybe tomorrow or the day after that.
-
Jungkook deceived himself.
He precisely reminded his own body that after putting down the gift, he would leave and pretend like he didn't do anything here.
But here he was, waiting for nothing for the past two hours.
Every corner of the janitors closet only reminded him of his memories, the happies moments of his life and one person who he spent it all with. Taehyung, Taehyung and Taehyung.
Looking at Taehyung's bright face earlier, the boy was happy for him but it broke Jungkook's heart, because the one who was making him that happy at that moment was not him, it was another guy.
"Please Taehyung come back to me... let's fix things and make it right." he cried as he whispered to the wind, because he knew that right now it was just a wish.

Suddenly, the door opened.
It made Jungkook flinch in surprise, he quickly fixed his posture and pretended he did not cry within the two hours of him waiting in here to face the person who opened the door.
Because it was Taehyung.
"T-Tae, y-you w-went by...!" he stammered, he wished for this to happen but now it did, he was surprised. Jungkook had a lot of things to say, but his mind went blank after seeing Taehyung right in front of him without the usual smile on his face.
"Hey." Taehyung greeted with a small smile.
'Why did you come here?'
'Happy Birthday'
'How are you?'
'I missed you.'
'Taehyung, please come back to me.'
These are all the words flooding Jungkook's mind right now, he can't seem to pick which one to say first.
He opened his mouth to at least say 'hello', but before he can even do, he was interrupted.
"Can I get the mop?" Taehyung asked pointing to the cleaning material behind Jungkook. "We need to clean the cafeteria. I'll just have it and I'll go. Thank you."
Absentmindedly, Jungkook reached behind his back and got Taehyung the mop he was pointing.
"You're not wearing the bracelet I gave you." he thought out loud. He thought his heart was already broken enough, but he never would've thought that he would be this depressed after seeing that Taehyung's left wrist that once wore the bracelet he gave,
was now replaced by a brand new silver watch.
Taehyung looked at his wrist and let out a silent 'oh'. "Yes, I removed it."
"That watch seems expensive." Jungkook remarked, trying his best not to cry right in front of the older.
"Jimin told me it was from America." Taehyung smiled at the wristwatch and slightly waved a good bye at Jungkook. "Well I have to go, thanks once again."
Was all Taehyung replied before facing the door to leave.
Jungkook was stunned, now he was feeling how he ignored Taehyung from the public, now he knew how hurtful it was to be treated as nothing.
"W-Wait!" Jungkook called out, getting the other's attention and raising the brown paper bag containing the gift he prepared, but now the packaging was crumpled.
Taehyung looked behind with a stoic face, it scared Jungkook because he was not used to seeing this un-cheerful side of his ex boyfriend, but nevertheless, he gathered his courage and started talking.
"I-I know I could never give you the same pretentious and extravagant g-gift Jimin did, and I k-know that's all you ever wanted. Not the watch, but the thing he did for you in the cafeteria. I'm sorry I'm not and will never be as confident as him."
"Well you seem confident kissing Eunbi at the courtyard." Taehyung avoided his gaze and gripped the mop tighter in his hands. "Well, use me as a lesson and next time be confident to show how you really feel in public. I'll be happy for you with whoever you decide to end up with, so please also be happy for me."
When Taehyung gripped the doorknob and told himself to leave for real, Jungkook stood up and hugged him from the back.
He can't stop himself anymore, he didn't care if he looked pathetic.
But right at that moment, he cried unto Taehyung's shoulders, pleading for him to come back.
"I-I don't want anyone else, I only want you." he whispered.
"I hope you could've said that at the courtyard, instead of humiliating me in public." Taehyung mumbled to himself, trying to stop his own tears. He felt like he already cried a lot whenever he was with Jungkook, so he should start learning how to keep his emotions in.
"T-Then at least, accept this gift of mine." Jungkook raised the almost crumpled paper bag and covered his face with it. "H-Happy Birthday..."
Taehyung stared at it for a second, debating whether he should accept it or not.
Maybe deep inside his heart, he still had feelings for the younger, that's why he decided to accept it.
After seeing that the other held the paper bag, Jungkook coughed and lowered down his head, moving out of the janitor's closet in a hurry.
Taehyung stared at the 'gift' he had in his hands.
He opened up the paper bag and pulled out a navy blue colored box.
Inside the box were a pair of glasses.
Familiar glasses.
And a note.
Seeing the wide framed glasses now in his hands, his legs couldn't support him anymore so he fell down on a sitting position on the floor.
The paper bag he was holding was now stained with his own tears that he has been trying to stop since a few minutes ago when he entered this room.
Yes, Jimin gave him a party, an expensive watch and his favorite flavored cake.
But contrast to what he gave, Jungkook gifted him an old pair of glasses.
Which holds a lot of their memories.
He prepared himself as he opened the note that was with the gift, which was surprisingly long and confused his feelings.

Glitch — Alpha [Swedish] [Svenska]
********* For English readers: (Might as well add this information in English to save the lovely souls looking through our works some time) I probably won't translate this work, but I'm working on another translation within YA, if that's something you'd be interested in. This one's horror/thriller, so.. yeah. Maybe sometime in the future. Otilia works at a daycare when a child disappears. Seconds later, the child reappears, like nothing had happened. She thinks she's worked too much, but when disappearences start to happen all around the globe, she and her boyfriend realize that something has gone really, really wrong. When they get an idea about what could be the cause, no matter how unbelievable, they will do everything in their power to get the information to the right people. This was my first-ever-novel and my first gamelit story (though I had no idea that was a thing/genre at the time). This novel contains a lot of violence and blood and can be uncomfortable to read for some people. There is also some violence from, and off-screen violence to, children.
