《Timeless》6

In one month, it'll be a year of dating Stevie. Not to mention, a year and a half since she started singing with Fritz. Every day, I fall more in love with her. From her brownie blonde hair to her beautiful brown eyes.
"I heard there's a big record guy here tonight," Cal says to me and Stevie as we get ready.
"Oh, Gee Cal, why did you have to tell me that. I was already nervous." Stevie whines throwing her make-up down.
"Baby, you're going to do great. Trust me." I kiss her and light up some marijuana. It's a must before I go onstage.
We normally share a joint, but tonight her little brother and her parents are here. Chris is five years younger than her. He just graduated High School, but he is way bigger than her. But of course, everyone is. She's only five-foot-one.

Our show goes well, and as it ends while we're packing up, a man wearing a suit pulls Stevie and me aside.
"Okay, your group sucks but you two...you two have something special. I'm Phillip Johnson from Polydor Records. If you two have it in your hearts to leave, you two have a big future ahead. Call me when you're ready and we'll make an appointment." The man says shaking our hands and handing me the card.
That night as we sit in our motel room we're staring at the card. The radio playing silently in the background.
"Oh Linds, what are we going to do?" Stevie asks.
"I don't know Steph. ON one hand, we could make a record. On the other, we'd have to leave Fritz. I've been with these guys for eight years. Since High School started. I can't imagine leaving them." I shrug.

"I know, but Lindsey, It could just be us. No Javi dictating what we do. You have so many good songs that we could use. Not to mention mine. We have a chance to make it." She pleads.
"Okay, let's do it. We're going to be in LA in two weeks, we'll set up a meeting for then. I'll call in the morning." I smile.
In that dark and dingy motel, we seal our deal by making love, not once, not twice, but four times in the early morning light.
***
Before long, our meeting was here, and Stevie is pacing back and forth in the lobby. She's nervous as am I, but I'm not showing it as bad. She looks gorgeous in her red and white wrap skirt and a white flowy top. Her brown high heeled boots adding six inches to her height.
"Baby, we'll be fine," I say pulling her onto my lap.
"What if we aren't...What if I mess up?" She bites her thumbnail.
"Steph. Stop." I say firmly. She just huffs and continues chewing on her nail, plopping down into the seat next to me.

We did great, and we got a record deal. All we have to do is find a studio and we have two years to make this record.
Telling the band wasn't easy. Cal and Bob understood and were super sweet about it. Javi wasn't as nice. For the rest of our tour, he tried to mess up our songs and purposely would hit wrong notes making Stevie super upset but also super happy that we were leaving.
My twenty-second birthday soon fell upon us. Stevie got her degree and to celebrate both of those things, we were apartment shopping in LA. My mom and Barbara are with us. We found a studio, Sound City, and we've been coming up on weekends to record. We're only three tracks in on a twelve-track album and money is starting to get tight. So, we came to the conclusion that just moving out here would be best. That way we'd have the album done quicker. Our parents reluctantly agreed to foot the first six months rent, down payment, and the furniture, everything else is on us.

We have a great producer, Keith Olsen who has been letting us stay at his house while we were visiting on the weekends, and Sound City has been so generous letting us come in whenever we wanted.
"Oh, Lindsey! It's gorgeous. I know it's only three rooms but that's fine and it's in a good location and the city view is amazing." Stevie says spinning around the apartment.
"Teedee bird, is this the one?" Barbara asks.
"Oh, yes momma. This is the one." Stevie says hugging me around the waist.
