The Singhania family's private jet landed in Mumbai at around 3 in the evening. Veer had accompanied the family as he was super close to everyone. This is a thing with childhood friends, their family becomes your family as well. Alina, who was super excited to meet her family after months, came to pick them up.

They, then, went to their bungalow in the city and spent some time together before deciding to take some rest.

Being around his entire family made Arjun feel better than what he had been feeling the past months.

The next morning, he called up Raman. From the time she left, he called up Raman every few days to check if he found some lead. But everytime the answer was negative. And today was no exception either.

The feeling of helplessness crawled in his being like never before. He needed her, but he couldn't do anything about it.

"What's new with you?" Alina asked, buttering her toast.

Dev and Shalini had gone out to shop for some gifts to take along at the event in the evening. It was just the sibling duo and Veer at home.

"Just work." He shrugged his shoulder, focusing on orange juice.

After speaking to Raman, his mood had deteriorated again.

"You know, this devdas look doesn't suit you." She munched on the toast.

He narrowed his eyes at his sister.

"I know about Mayera." She spoke while chewing her food.

"First, stop talking with food in your mouth. And second, who told you?"

"A little birdie." She giggled.

Arjun glared at his best friend knowing very well that he was the culprit. Veer let out a nervous laugh. "I swear I didn't mean to, but she pulled it out of me. She is some kind of conversational witch."

Last night, Alina had noticed something off about Arjun and after he went to bed, she had blackmailed Veer with her puppy dog eyes till he spit everything out. Veer loved Alina like a little sister and couldn't deny her anything and she knew how to use this to her advantage.

"Even if Veer hadn't told me, I'd had my ways to find it out." Alina spoke again while chewing, irritating Arjun to no end.

"Bhai, don't worry. You'll find her." Alina continued, " But I don't know if she'll forgive you or not."

Yes, she was angry at her brother when she heard the story and wanted to kick his ass for hurting an innocent girl. But being the empathetic person she was, she also understood how hard the past months must have been for him and she didn't want to make him feel worse than he was already feeling.

"I am not expecting her to accept me with open arms. All I want is a chance to drop on my knees and beg for forgiveness."

The evening rolled in. The Singhania clan, along with Veer got ready and started their journey towards the venue of the event, that is the Oberoi Mansion.

The entrance of the mansion was jam-packed with paparazzi. The senior Singhania couple and Alina came in one car, while Arjun and Veer came in another.

After posing for a few single pictures and a few with the entire family, they all made their way towards the mansion.

The grand hall was filled with very well-known faces of the business and Bollywood world. All of them parted their ways to greet their friends and acquaintances.

Arjun met a few people before waving off towards the bar. Veer accompanied him as he never liked attending these high class parties and didn't know most of the people here.

"The Oberois sure know how to throw a party!" Veer complimented.

"Hmm, the arrangements are nice." Arjun said looking around at the decorations.

"Hey, that girl has been checking you out for quite some time now." Veer informed Arjun, while pointing slightly at her direction.

Arjun turned his eyes and saw the girl. Arjun knew she was some new actress, but he didn't remember her name. When she saw Arjun looking at her, she passed him a warm smile.

Arjun moved his eyes back to his glass of champagne and shifted his body to a little left, so that his back now faced that girl.

"I am not interested in any girl." Arjun stated.

"I wish Mayera was here to see how much she has changed you." Veer smiled at his friend.

"I wish it, too." Arjun's eyes filled with sadness. It was an emotion that Veer had grown accustomed to see in Arjun's eyes since Mayera left. It killed Veer to see his best friend in this state.

It was some time later, when Mayera, wearing a black gown entered the event. Her mind kept replaying her dad's words, 'Never let anyone else decide your worth'. She took confident strides with her head held high.

Arjun was standing with his mother, greeting some of her friends when he felt the hall went a little silent. He looked around to find most of the people looking in one direction.

Curiosity spiked in him and he also moved his eyes in that particular direction, only to get baffled.

The woman he was searching for with all his might was standing in front of him, standing in a place where he least expected to find her. His Mayera was standing in front of his eyes.

"Do you also see what I see, or is my eyes playing tricks with me?" Veer asked Arjun.

Arjun was feeling too many things to reply to anything. He could not see anything other than her. Subconsciously, his feet started to move towards her. Mayera was talking to an old friend when she felt someone advancing her, so she looked up and saw the guy she had swore never to see again.

What was he doing here? She, of course, knew that the Singhanias were invited but she didn't think that he would also come all the way to Mumbai to attend an event. As much as she knew him, he loved his work too much to leave it for some party.

Before he could get near her, Mayera excused herself and walked off from there. She absolutely didn't want to talk to him and would do anything to avoid him.

He saw her walking away from him. He had done this. It was because of him that now she wanted to run away from him. But he was determined too. Now that he had found her, he was not letting her go.

He wanted to follow her, but suddenly the lights of the hall dimmed and a spotlight shone upon the stage. Tejas Singh Oberoi stood below the light with a mic in his hand.

"Hello, my friends and family!" He started by greeting everyone and then thanked everyone for coming today.

Arjun joined Veer but his eyes were still on his woman. Standing there in that body hugging dress with minimal makeup, she looked ethereal. He always knew she was beautiful, but today she looked out of the world. Like a hoor.

Maybe it is true. When you fall in love, you see that person in an altogether different light.

"What do you think she is doing here?" Veer whispered near Arjun's ear.

Tejas was now talking about his business career and how he had started it.

"I have no idea." Arjun whispered back.

Mayera could see him from the corner of her eyes. He looked different. His eyes seemed to have lost it's spark. He had grown his beard too much and his face was tired.

"Maybe she got a job in some other company and is here representing that company." Veer guessed.

It kind of made sense. Maybe she had accompanied her boss here or something. Arjun didn't care much about why she was here. All he cared about was she was here.

"And now, I've decided to retire and pass on the responsibility of the company over to my children. As you all know, I've named my company, The KaMa, after both my son and daughter, and today I am giving it to them. I request you all to give them as much love as you've given me over the years." Tejas smiled at the audience as everyone clapped. The constant clicking sound of the cameras of the media could be heard too.

"Now I'd like to invite them both on stage. The brand new CEOs of The KaMa Group, Kabir Singh Oberoi and Mayera Singh Oberoi."

Both Kabir and Mayera held hands and walked on the stage to their father and hugged him. The crowd hooted, and the media went crazy, as this was the first time the Oberoi siblings came in front of the camera.

And in all this chaos, no one noticed Arjun who felt like the ground slipped from under his feet.
