《King of Freaks ✔》Chapter 29

awake. I began getting terrified once I saw him fall to the ground.
"Eliazer? Eliazer wakes up." I whispered, gently slapping his face repeatedly. I shakily got up, serving a cup of water before splashing it, note a bit too harshly, on his face. He gasped at the sensation, wide eyed and fully awake. I sighed in relief as I saw him looking fine.
He looked at my hands before looking back at me. "Where is it?" He asked as he hastily got up, looking around the room.
"It's on the table, from somebody who identified themselves as Silent," I replied, furrowing my eyebrows. That changed when I realize how smart I just sounded. I shook my head.
I have better things to think about.
Eliazer just stood there, unmoving, looking at the rose. I stood up from my kneeling position, looking at him carefully.
"What's wrong?" I asked him carefully.
"Stay away from that guy." He whispered.
"But this is the first time I ev-"
"I said stay away from him!" He yelled his face flushing red as tears quickly pooled in his eyes. I was scared, not because of him, but because of the fact that he was consumed by fear. He paced around the kitchen, running his hands through his hair whilst furrowing his eyebrows as confusion dawned his tear strained face.
"I-I'm so sorry Bryn. I-I didn't mean to snap." He sobbed as he avoided all eye contact. "I'm such a fucking prick."
"Hey, it's okay. I won't go near him, I promise." I said, getting near him as I tried to engulf him in a hug, unsuccessfully due to the fact Eliazer was bigger than me. My arms went around his waist as his went around my shoulders. He rested his chin above my head and he sobbed quietly as I rubbed my arm up and down his back soothingly. I don't know, but this was the only thing I can do.

The only thing that made us feel better.
~
I've been feeling troubled after the crazed incident with Eliazer. Afterward, we immediately let go of each other when Jared walked in through the door.
To say it was awkward.
Anyways, Aspen has been on my case about my so called 'secret boyfriend'.
"C'mon, just tell me already. Who is it?" Aspen asked, laying down on my bed like a little girl, fists underneath his chin.
"Th-there's nobody, I promise." I chuckled.
"Oh, yea? Then why are you blushing goofy?" He replied, smiling cheekily as he pinched my cheeks.
"I-I'm not!" I argued back, slapping his hands away.
"Well, there's someone. You just don't want to tell your big brother about it." He pouted.
"Aspen, I swear there's nobody!" I laughed, trailing my arms.
"Well, there's someone, you just don't know who." He said, rolling onto his back while letting out a sigh. "Don't worry Bryn, you'll find your soul mate."
"Do you believe in soul mates?" I asked him a bit seriously.
"Well, I believe in someone specially made for you, so yeah I guess," Aspen replied, resting his hands on the back of his head. It does make sense, sometimes couples are the complete opposite of each other, but on other occasions, they're sometimes exactly the same. It's scary, to be honest.
Definitely scary.

"Guys! I think it's time we shut the hell up!" River yelled out, standing atop of the lunch table. The entire lunchroom quieted down from the loud ruckus. "Kegan shouldn't get satisfied by the commotion we're making, yeesh."
Kegan stood at the other end of the cafeteria, her triumph grin from her victorious fight turned upside down. Her eyebrows furrowed and her eyes glared towards our table, the nice and bright table with every single one of my squad friends. Kegan took long, angry strides towards us as River's face faltered a bit.

"What did you say you scrawny pole?" Kegan spit, her top lip curling into a snarl. "I'll fuck up your face and no one will even notice you were once a pretty boy."
"I'll fuck up your face so bad, people would consider you beautiful compared to what you are now." I defended, standing up as I flipped my food tray in anger.
"What're tryna say bitch?" Kegan taunted, giving me all her attention as River hastily got off the table.
"I'm saying you're butt ugly! Are you deaf or just dumb?" I yelled, furrowing my own eyebrows. Kegan let out a yell as she ran towards me, raising her arm in an attempt to punch me. Before she even touched me, Gemini punched her before I could. The blow knocked her out cold, laying on the tile floor with a bit of blood coming out of her nose.
"Nobody fucks with my friends. Does everybody got that?!" Gemini yelled through out the entire lunch room, which was dead quiet. Nobody dared to say anything, and Gemini nodded, wrapping an arm around Gray as every single one of us walked out of the lunchroom: no questions asked.
We chilled in the hallways for the rest of our periods, and nobody told us anything. Nobody complained, but I felt proud. Proud for the friends I have. And I wouldn't trade them for anything.
But somebody always lingered in my mind.

Cycles of Ruin
Civilizations rise and fall. Kith build them up and monsters, led by powerful dungeon keepers, bring them to ruin. For three thousand years the cycle has been maintained by the Guild of Chaos and its endless hordes of minions who—in absence of their long lost creators—have taken it upon themselves to keep the realms of the universe in balance. The Guild has grown efficient at this task, but some among its ranks have begun to ponder the utility of a universe that has been robbed of the very possibility of change. Basil von Doom is one such dungeon keeper working for the Guild, leading an army of loyal minions from one conquest to the next; burning civilizations and sifting through the ruins in search of forbidden knowledge that the races of kith were never meant to possess. But having spent more than half a century in pursuit of glory and fame—trying to live up to the legacy of his father—Basil has grown indifferent towards his work. Desperate for a worthy challenge, but bound by his duties as a dungeon keeper, he has turned his mind towards uncovering the ultimate fate of the previous master of his house and the secrets that were buried with him. Now the young Master of House Doom must balance his growing interest in pursuing the trail of his father with the responsibilities that come with running a dungeon in service to the Guild of Chaos. To remain in good standing with the Guild, Basil has even accepted the task of mentoring an apprentice dungeon keeper, a young succubus named Elnora. It is at the tail end of her apprenticeship that the story begins; with a civilization poised to fall—its greatest heroes gathering for one last assault on the heart of darkness—and Basil striking up a conversation with his apprentice that will set into motion the unraveling of the universe. ***This is a rewrite and continuation of my story that was first posted on RoyalRoad a few years ago.
