We were finally in New York. The pace that I've wanted to visit for as long as I could remeber. This is where my mom grew up. She always said it was a great place. Not the best place for a child, but she dealt with it. Riding the subway to and from school every day since she was five. Her parents couldnt afford a car. They barely even had enough money to pay rent. But she still says she wouldn't trade her childhood for anything.

Jentzen

Sophie, Walker, Clem, Coco, and I were all walking to a bakery near the hotel our class was staying at. Sophie and Clem had heard good things about it and forced us to go with them. "There it is" Sophie says as she runs ahead of us. We all walked inside and walked over to the counter to order our food. "Can I get a Croissant please" Sophie asks. Sophie used to eat croissants every day of the week when we were five. She refused to eat anything else. It was her dad's favorite food too. She says that it was just a coincidence, that she didnt look up to him. She said that he didnt care about her, so she didnt care about him. I always hated to hear her say those things about her father. But at the same time, I knew most of them were true. It's not that he didnt care. He did. But he left, and I know that it hurt her. I was interrupted by someone tapping my shoulder. It was Sophie. She points towards a table and I see that all of our friends are sitting there.

Jentzen and I walk over to the table everyone else was sitting at. It was right in front of the Bakery stage. Someone walks up to the stage and grabs the microphone. She seemed to be around eighty. "Hi, I'm Kelly" she said. She was the owner of the bakery. "Today, I'm gonna be sharing a story about some people who came into this bakery about 30 years ago. I'm telling you this story, because I think it's interesting how quick they bonded. Some of them never came back to the cafe after that day. But it's a story I will never forget." Kelly started.

"A girl, her name was Tiffany I beleive used to come into this bakery every day. Her parents were rich, they wanted her to eat at nice, fancy restaurants but she didn't care. She loved being here and having the company if people who didnt attend the Expensive private school that she did. She would always come in with her best friend. His name was Allen and he always had the same order. A croissant and a plain coffee. No sugar, creamer or anything like that. He was always kind, so kind to the point that he would take a punch for someone he barely even knew. Then there was a girl named Heather. She would always walk by, but would never come in. Sometimes I would see her look at the Now Hiring sign but she still never walked inside the bakery. Atleast not until that day. She walked inside and sat down without ordering anything. She just walked in and listened to the music that was playing. Then there was Jennifer. Jennifer worked at the bakery, and her best friend Edward was always with her. They were inseparable. Jeniffer and Edward didnt have any friends other than eachother. Jennifer was the barista the day that Tiffany, Allen, and Heather were all here. Allen saw that Heather was sitting alone, and decided to sit next to her. Tiffany also joined them. They sat and talked, and I watched them bond. I had never seen Tiffany or Allen talk that much to anyone. A boy came in to the bakery. He didnt seem happy, and he walked straight towards Heather. 'My dad says that y'all havent payed rent' the boy said 'yeah, were kind of struggling with money' Heather said. Heather tried to ignore him, but the boy didnt care. The boy decided to try and punch Heather. Right as first was about to hit her face, Allen pushed the guy away. Allen punched the boy in the face, and the kid ran off. He probably told his father about what happened. 'Jenifer, why dont you go on your break now' I had said to her. She walked over to a table that was empty and Edward joined her. I watched as the other teen had soon joined them. They l talked like they had known eachother for years, even though it had only been 20 minutes. They stayed at that table, talking for almost five hours until we had to close the bakery cor the day. I never saw Tiffany and Allen after that day. They had talked about running away to LA, and escaping the private school they went too. Heather and her mom made enough money to move away. Somewhere in California. Maybe near Tiffany and Allen. I'm not sure. Jenifer and Edward ended up moving away a few years later as well. They were together when they left. A happy couple. I hope they're still happy now. That day, seeing those kids bond makes me wish I had spent my childhood making friends instead of always being scared. I hope this is a lesson to you all. Go meet a new friend, or maybe even just have a meaningful talk with your current friends. Get to know eachother better, and dont just spend all your time on social media. Thank y'all for listening, and I hope that this story inspires y'all".

Kelly had finished her story, and she made her way off the stage. The names, they sounded familiar. Tiffany, Jentzen and Pipers mom. Allen, my dad. Heather, my mom. Jennifer, Walkers mom and Edward, Cocos dad. "Guys, I think shes talking about our parents" I said "what?" Coco asks "our parnets all knew eachother back then" I say. "Wait, Edward, Jennifer, Tiffany, Allen, Heather" Jentzen says finally understanding what I was saying. "Wait Jennifer and Edward. That means Walker and I could've been siblings!" Clem shouts while making a disgusted face "I can hardly put up with being her friend" Walker says. All lies. We all knew they liked eachother. But that would be pretty weird with them as siblings. That's crazy to think that our parents were friends. Did they plan us all being friends? Did they even know they all lived near eachother? Or was this all some sort of coincidence? I never thought that our story would connect to our parnets. I thought my friends and I would have our own story about how we all became friends. And maybe Kelly was right about taking chances. Maybe I should take a leap of faith and tell Jentzen I like him. If he doesn't feel the same way, then maybe we can just pretend it never happened. "Jentzen can I talk to you?"
