Tentei continuar usando roupas melhores durante a semana, o que funcionou, pois Lauren disse que acertei em todas as minhas escolhas. No sábado, ela apareceu em minha casa. Como sempre, ela conversou um pouco com Vic antes de ir falar comigo.
-E aí, badboy? - Ela disse, adentrando meu quarto.
-E aí, badgirl? - Respondi.
Começamos a nos chamar assim depois que contei à ela sobre o ocorrido com Avan e, mais tarde, ela me contou sobre uma briga em que tinha se envolvido quando mais nova.
Lauren separou mais algumas roupas, algumas em uma pilha e o restante em outra.
-Okay - ela disse. - Essas são as melhores peças que você tem - ela apontou para uma das pilhas. - E essas aqui são as que não são tão boas assim - ela apontou para a outra.
Olhei para a pilha ruim. As roupas que eu mais usava estavam ali.
-O que há de errado com essas roupas? Eu gosto delas.
-Matt, - ela disse aproximando-se de mim e colocando a mão em minha barriga - não há absolutamente nada de errado com essas roupas. Não há nada de errado em vestir-se do jeito que você quiser. Mas você não está se vestindo do jeito que você quer. Está se vestindo do jeito que Liz quer.
-Você está certa - eu disse. - Mas sobraram poucas roupas para eu usar, não vai dar para usá-las muito tempo.
-Nós vamos ao shopping comprar algumas roupas para você. Meu pai tem um cartão quase que ilimitado para usar em algumas lojas, nós podemos comprar com ele.
-Lauren, não quero gastar o dinheiro do seu pai. Vamos fazer de outro jeito, vou conseguir algum dinheiro com a minha mãe.
-Não esquenta, Matt.
Antes que eu pudesse falar mais alguma coisa, ela disse:

-Ah, quase me esqueci. Hoje vim para te falar sobre o passo 2 do nosso projeto. Garotas como a Liz adoram um homem comprometido. Você tem que fazer parecer que você está com alguém, ou estar com alguém de verdade, tanto faz, para ela poder demonstrar mais interesse em você.
-Mas Lauren, ela é comprometida com o Liam - eu retruquei.
-Você realmente acha que existe fidelidade naquele relacionamento?
Fiquei mudo.
-Okay, seja como for, você precisa dar a entender que está saindo com alguém. Não precisa ser agora, mas vai pensando no assunto e nas possíveis candidatas a esse "relacionamento" - ela fez aspas quando disse relacionamento.
Eu assenti e comecei a pensar sobre o assunto.

I humbly want to accept that challenge and I'm giving it a shot. The Dog with a Chair
As of now, this story is dropped. It was an excellent learning experience, but the quality suffered too much from me trying new things for me to continue in good concience. Thanks to anyone that read it. I'm leaving this story up as a record of my first ever attempt at publishing something I've wrote. To any new writers out there, remember that even if the stuff you write is trash, you can still learn a lot from writing it. - November 17th 2020 Guy gets involved in advocacy for civil engineering projects, then gets pulled into an interdimensional war. Third person with a focus on one main character (Stanley) with the occasional point of view from another character important to story progression. Writing style tends to shift early on as I figure out how to write (this is my first book). Still learning, hoping to improve. Current style choice is to have a focus on character dialogue/actions with interspersed internal monologue in italics. No current end is set for the story, with the primary goal of this project being to learn to express myself in a written format. Storyline is kept as consistent as practical while covering things I find interesting. Governmental systems are mentioned, but not explained in extreme detail. Sci fi elements are used to reinforce and guide plot progression as I'm able. Personal goals belonging to each character are in the process of being developed, with the hope that they will support or oppose each other in interesting ways later on. Hope you enjoy :)
