《Hunting His Prey》Chapter 17

I look down at my hands when I just can't bare to face my best friend anymore. If I look her in the eyes, I may just start on fire, burning this beautiful couch beneath us. Of course, she doesn't let me get away that easy. She takes my hand with hers, "Pen, look at me." Her tone is earnest. I know I should, she deserves that much from me.
"I can't. I'm sorry Claudie, I just don't know how to say all of this." My voice breaks as the first tear falls down my cheek. I don't wipe it away, feeling as though I deserve so much worse for changing her life. "I can tell her everything." The sound of Zane's voice coming from the kitchen has my head shooting up.
I can see from the corner of my eye, that Claudette is blatantly checking out all the other half naked, wet men surrounding him, but my eyes are solely on him. I find myself tracking the water as it runs down his chest, to his hard, muscular abs. Falling all the way down to the muscles sticking out just above his jean pants that he's wearing and nothing more. I have to swallow down the words that wish to come up at the moment.
All I am wishing to do, is to stand up, walk over so I am standing right in front of him, and run my tongue down the entire length of his body. My hands reach out to my sides, latching onto the couch cushions for dear life. Trying my hardest to make sure I don't leave this couch. Although, there are many eyes in the vicinity, my wolf doesn't care. She wants him here and now, no questions asked, no judgement from her, and not a care in the world.

He must see the difficulty I am having staying put, as a conniving smile forms on his lips. He brings one hand to his hip, placing his thumb in the belt loops of his jeans, he leans his shoulder against the door jam. Allowing me to take my fill and enjoying every second of it.
A person's throat clearing has me shaking my head, trying to clear the sexual fog that has clouded my judgement. I face my best friend once more, holding her hands with mine, and preparing for the look of sadness and disappointment to stare back at me in a moment.
"I should be the one to tell her." I pull my shoulders back, bringing my head up, and looking her directly in the eye. Surprisingly, she looks as though she already knows. Does she? No, she couldn't. "Claudie, I..." she places her hand along my lips. Shushing me with one finger.
"I know Pen. I remember everything, and it's okay. You had to do it." She drops her hand and wraps one of mine in both of hers. She brings them up to her cheek and rests her head along them. "If it weren't for you, I'd be dead right now, and we both know it." She closes her eyes, taking a deep breath in, and lets it out. She looks peaceful like this. She's always been an exotic beauty, but I have never seen her at peace like she is now.
Her eyes pop open and she looks at me once more, "I am so thankful for your quick thinking. I couldn't imagine dying so young, and knowing I lived a life where I was never truly happy." Her words cause my mouth to fall open. "You weren't?" Deep down I knew she wasn't. I knew that's why she acted the way she did and craved all the attention. All the many friends, surrounding herself with so many people. She has always had a void within her, just like me. That's why we understand each other so well and are best friends.

"Of course, you already knew that." She winks at me. Causing a small smile to form along my lips. "So," She drops our hands, not releasing mine as she turns her body to face the men of the room. "What now?"
"That's a damn good question." I hear another say. I turn around to see everyone giving their full attention to Zane. Who is still leaning against the door jam with his arms crossed over his chest. He's studying me intently, with a look on his face, that has me wishing I could read minds, but I wasn't blessed with that gift. If I was, it hasn't revealed itself in all my eighteen years of life.
If I thought Zane was sexy before, that look is nothing compared to when he stands at his full height, licking his canines with his tongue, before he brings his thumb to his lip, rubbing the bottom one. That was always his tell since we were young that he is cooking up a plan. One I may not like judging by the conniving look in his eyes.
Without a word, he slowly walks to where I am sitting on the couch. With his body in front of mine, he brings that hand of his to my face. Rubbing my chin with that same thumb. As he makes his way up to my mouth, he rubs along my lips for a second, before wiping away the tear that is still on my cheek. With my salty essence on his thumb, he stares into my eyes, his own on fire, as he brings his thumb to his mouth and sucks it into his mouth. Suddenly, once more there is a tsunami between my legs.

The Shattered Circle
Aleyr Frostborn has survived a hundred prophecies of her defeat, breaking each one by slaying the champions of light sent to kill her. Amongst the forces of good, her very name is a curse, and with good reason. Beyond her own evil, it is said that so long as she lives, the reign of the Godslayer himself will last: the lich king who the terrified masses call the King in Black. While the kingdoms and empires that surround the blighted lands of the undead lands struggle to survive and beat back the tide of evil, the machinations of the Eternal Kingdom's dark court barely contain the bitter struggles for power between the forces that have made it what it is. With one foretold hero brutally snuffed out, another will inevitably arise. For Aleyr, the cycle only further embitters her towards the gods of good and all those who serve them. But the truth is that her downfall might be something much closer to home than their prophecies, those last dregs of mortality beating inside her own chest. With a thoughtless intersection between cruelty and mercy, she begins a chain of events that threatens to tear the Eternal Kingdom and her own loyalties into shreds. After all, many things can be broken, not just prophecies.
