《Hunting His Prey》Chapter 18

I couldn't help myself, and if she's distracted enough not to get angry at my next words, I'll do what I can to defuse the situation. "Now, you two go into that spare room. Go and talk, then I need you to try and sleep. While I talk to my boys and make a phone call." Her once dilated eyes are filled with rage, as they change to a gorgeous yellow color.
I know she thinks her wolf isn't there anymore, or that she's broken in some way. Really, what she hasn't realized is she hasn't been around her kind in a couple years. Now that she is in the room filled with a she wolf, and outcast male wolves she's coming to the forefront more. I have seen her three times so far tonight.
I cannot wait to see her in full wolf form. It'll be glorious. "Who are you calling exactly?" She crosses her arms over her chest. Trying to come off as intimidating. Little does she know, all she's done is make her beautiful, and perky breasts stand out that much more. Licking my lips, I have to look away from her or I may take her here in front of everyone.
The thought has crossed my mind more than once so far. "Your father." I could beat around the bush and lie to her about it. However, judging by the look held in her eyes, she already knew who I was calling. Suddenly, I get a whiff of fear, as I hear her hyperventilating behind me. "I can't," She is scratching at her neck.
I can see Claudette trying to hold her hands down, away from her skin. I am by her side, kneeing in front of her before I can think straight. "I can't go back there. Not to that man." She's crying now. The tears falling down her cheeks, one after another, as she is starting to fight Claudette. Trying to get up from the couch so she can run.

"Look at me." I place as much of my Alpha into my tone as I can. I'm trying not to go full on her. I don't want to scare her or make her do anything she doesn't want to willingly do. That's now how it will be with us. I can hear my friends all fall to their knees. "Damnit Zane! You know when you use that tone we can't help ourselves but to fall to the floor, awaiting your command." I hear Ethan grit out as he curses me out.
I'm not trying to make them do as I say. Our pack isn't run that way, but I need to calm her down so she doesn't hurt herself. I bring both hands to her head, to each side. I look deep in her grey blue eyes, but I know she can't make out anything I'm saying. She's too far gone now.
Without another thought, I slam my lips to hers. Causing not only her to stop moving all together, but making my world stop spinning entirely. She wraps her arms around my neck, falling into my lap. I dip my tongue into her open mouth, taking her up on her invitation. I suck her tongue into my mouth, toying with her, before I lightly bite her bottom lip.
Knowing I cannot keep this up too long, because her father will want to know what happened tonight. If he doesn't hear from me, he will send one of his men here, or worse come himself. That thought has me sobering, I push her away from me. She looks stunned for a moment, during this time I place my hands to the side of her face once more.
"There is no way in this world I will be sending you back there." She's looking at me but looks more like she's looking through me. Hell no! She isn't allowed to check out in any way with me. "Penny, look at me." She does to my utter shock. "I need you to really hear the words I am saying. To know I am being honest with you." She nods her head, as she wipes away the tears.

"I believe you." She hiccups causing a small smile to form on my lips. She still does that after crying. Shaking my head, I think back to when we were young. She may have changed look wise, and her body is womanlier, but she is still my lucky Penny. I kiss her forehead and bring mine to lay against hers. "Go with Claudette. Talk to her for a while, get your mind away from the past. Can you do that for me?" I plead with my eyes. She nods once more, as I lift my head and look past her to her best friend.
"Go with her. She will tell you what she knows about our world. The world you are now a part of. I will fill in any blanks in the morning. I need to make this call." Without another word, she wraps her best friend, my Penny in her arms and walks down the hallway with her. I watch as they disappear into the room.
I stand at my full height and turn to face my pack. "Sorry guys. I didn't mean..." Before I can finish my sentence, they each hold up a hand. "We get it. No worries." Hunter speaks first. A second later, I see a phone thrown in the air, I reach out and catch it just before it hits the floor. "Make that call. We are right here listening in." Fang nods his head at me. Normally, I don't allow any of them to tell me what to do, but I'm too thankful at the moment to have their support to reprimand him.
I turn, giving them my back as I dial the number. Listening to the ringtone, I have to snap my neck from side to side. Trying to calm down before the man I have hated my entire life speaks from the other end of the phone. When he does, I'm not sure what I'll do.
"You better have an explanation to what the fuck happened out there tonight!" Ethan places his hand on my shoulder, stopping me from doing something stupid.

The Other World
Every living being becomes a Traveler while sleeping. This means that part of what is called “consciousness” detaches from the rest, carrying us towards worlds located in parts still unknown of the universe. Most of these places have things that inhabit only our dreams. Worlds were physics is not the same one we know. Where magic exists and mythological creatures walk amongst the people. Most of the Travelers become mere spectators in this world, unable to influence it. With some luck, they can go back to their bodies and wake up with the memory of a pleasant dream. Others do not have the same luck and end up stuck in the limbo, unable to return home. There is one other category of Travelers. These are the ones strong enough to create bodies and separate themselves from the life they had before. These Travelers start a new life without ever thinking about returning to the place they once called “home”. This story is about the last kind of Travelers and their trials in a world filled with spells, magical creatures and monsters. **

The Last Marshal
Weird West Fantasy Noir Once the Republic Marshals brought order to the chaotic lands along the Frontier, facing dangers both human and supernatural with ancient wisdom and a six-gun —but that was a long time ago. Destroyed by conspiracy and betrayal, all that remains of that secretive order is one nameless man on a trek though the West seeking revenge on the woman he blames for the Marshals' fall and his disgrace. When a visitor from our world joins him on his journey, they together must confront the horrors of a strange land, the mysteries of the past and the real meaning of their quest for justice. The world of Tellus is what 19th Century Earth would have looked like if the stories of Poe, Ambrose Bierce, Lovecraft and William Hope Hodgeson were real. History in this world moves slower. The old faiths persist and civilization never conquered the dark corners of the map, at least not without being inextricably changed. Technology and culture takes a little longer to evolve in this land, as people here tend to spend more time pursuing their elaborate revenge plots or trying to avoid being the next sacrifice to the Outer Gods rather than advancing science or statecraft. Imagine Cormac McCarthy by way of Edgar Rice Burroughs, though a little less testosterone-drenched than that description would imply. Three caveats: First, there are deep mysteries here, including how such a world came to be and who controls it. Second, this world is not wholly unconnected from our own. There is a historical point of divergence, but in the distant past. To paraphrase Twain: history in this world is not a repeat of our own, but it does often rhyme. And finally, this is not a setting that lends itself to happy endings.
