《May We Meet Again: Book 3》Then Came After

"Clarke?" I keep my arms above my head despite all the guns pointing at me being lowered.
"Hey. Mom." She doesn't hesitate to pull me into a long warm embrace causing me to lower my arms lightly hugging her back. I don't want her to think this is me coming back home. I gently pull back clearing my throat. "Where's Kane?"
"What's wrong." her face shifts from relief to worry.
"I'll explain everything just let Kane know that I wish to meet with him."
"Clarke..."
"Please, it's important." She hesitates slightly then gives a slight nod agreeing.
"We can do this inside." She turns to leave motioning for me to follow. I can feel eyes on me as I walk through camp along with the sound of a few whispers. My eyes wander to the faces staring back at me as if looking for someone.
Octavia. She needs to know Bellamy is alive.
I follow my mom though the maze of hallways that I know all too well. She stops in front of the door leading into the chancellor's office. Marcus is hunched over a table studying a makeshift model of the camp. He looks to us in response to the sound of the door opening.
"Abby, Clarke." He says in a surprised tone that is more aimed towards me than my mom. He fixes his posture extending his hand to the chairs across the room "please have a seat."
"Before we start is Octavia here?"
"She is." he responds crossing his arms over his chest
"She needs to be here for this too." I see my mom glance at me in the corner of my eye then turns her gaze back to Kane. "I'll find her." She gives me one last look before she goes back the way we came.

I cross the room casually examining the model laid out on the table "I hope the grounders aren't giving you too much trouble out there."
I don't meet his gaze "they weren't... until recently."
"I heard...about Bellamy...I'm so sorry. Why don't you stay, your mother is worried." he pauses checking to see if he overstepped "Your mother thinks it'll be best for you to come back home."
"Keeping my mother company are we?" I look up at him then smile to myself once I see his discomfort confirming my thoughts "I have a home. It's just not here."
The sound of the door opening causes both of us to turn "Clarke." Octavia moves swiftly pulling me into an embrace "You're back?"
"Not exactly." I look at my mom then Kane "I'm here to tell you that Lexa has requested a meeting. She wants to make Skycru part of her coalition."
"Absolutely not." Kane says shaking his head
"Like hell, we will! She left us in Mount Weather." Octavia says backing him up
"They're right. We can't risk it, Clarke." my mom gives me an apologetic look.
"Normally I would agree with all of you but things are different now..." I look to Octavia "She has Bellamy."
I watch all the color leave her face "He's dead."
"He's not. Lexa has him and she won't realease him untill you agree to join her coalition."
"She could be just saying that Clarke. I'm sorry, I know you want to believe that he's alive but..." I cut him off "He's alive. I saw him."
Kane looks to my mom who's giving me a sad look "Clarke sometimes...when you lose someone you...start to see things...see them when really you're brain hasn't processed that they are truly gone." She moves slowly towards me as if I'm about to have a violent outburst at any second.

"I'm not seeing things. It was him. He's alive." I realize that I do sound desperate and maybe a bit mentally unstable. "Clarke..."
"I believe her." I look to Octavia surprised but she has her gaze her fixed on Kane "I'll do anything for my brother and even if there's the smallest chance that he is alive, I'm taking that chance." She glances at me giving a reassuring grin telling me that she's with me. She looks back to Kane "We leave tomorrow." she doesn't wait for him to reply as she walks out of the room.
He watches her leave then looks to me with a sigh "I guess we should get some sleep then." I nod in agreement heading for the door "I'll see you tomorrow."
I feel my mom following me down the hall "Clarke." I slow down my pace so she can catch up. "You can have my room." She points down the hall towards the living courters. I slow down to a stop and give her a small smile "thank you."
I know she needs this. Me to agree to stay in her room. She's still holding onto that hope that I'll stay.

"Can't sleep?" I hear Bellamy shift from his back onto his side as he rests his chin on my shoulder.
"Nope." I keep my eyes closed letting out a sigh.
"What can I do?"
"Hmm...you could explain to me again how to hunt a fish and bore me to sleep," I say laughing at my own joke.
"Oh, I bore you now do I?" he responds pretending to be offended and going back to his side of the bed.
"You're going to get cold laying over there all by yourself you know."
"Good thing I have a blanket then," he says, I feel him tug the blanket closer to his body.
I smile to myself as I sit up yanking his side of the blanket over to my side.
"Clarke." he wines reaching behind him searching for his half of the blanket.
"You know..." I roll myself up into a burrito "I'm starting to feel sleepy."
"You're impossible." he pulls my body to his kissing the back of my neck. "Can I get in there it's a bit cold."
"Clarke." I look to my mom sitting at the edge of the bed. She looks exhausted. I sit up running a hand through my hair slowly getting out of bed. "We should go," I say quickly reaching for my boots on the floor. "Clarke we should talk about..."
"We'll talk when Bellamy is home." I finish lacing up my boots heading for the door.

Beneath No Sky: Chronicles of the Atmospheric Sector
After bringing themselves back from the brink of annihilation, humanity's future seemed bleak. However, it's remnants, throwing aside the old order and donning a new mantle of progress aimed to rise above their ancient disputes and go forward as one. Once the Earth reached it's natural limit, and colonies around Terra and Luna had shown promising results, humanity finally decided to make the move to the stars. Believing this to be the start of a new age, they eagerly poured across the solar system and further beyond, greeting what space had to offer with hope and optimism. It was misplaced, however, for humanity's traditional quarrels soon resurfaced and engulfed a now interplanetary empire of many races. As the Earth Empire burned and an intense depression overtook the once optimistic people, some held out hope. They theorized that their problems were born of an inherent sense of home and, in order to rid humanity, now comprising of the Terrans as well as all the other known species of the galaxy, of this burden, decided to move far away from civilized space, into uncharted depths, to start anew. Some 200 years have passed since then, and those hopeful ones have finally found a place to settle on. Firmly planting their flag in paradise, they called this untouched land "Eden" and declared the beginning of a true new age, the age of After Eden.Trouble, however, seemed to still be hounding them, as barely three years after its founding, Eden finds itself at war with a seemingly uncommunicative and uncompromising enemy that far outclasses the odd pirates they were used to facing. A new era of peace, marked by an immediate conflict. Time will tell if Eden, the Grand Experiment, truly is as great as it's supposed to be. ---------------------------------------- This is a sci-fi, character driven, military space drama. Multiple POV protagonists and lots of unnecessary detail. Somewhat psychological. My first work on this website.
