《His Light》chapter seven

Micha's POV
It's been a few days since I started school, so far it has been really good, the homework is dreadful but I'm just happy to be over with that whole homeschooling situation. Eric has sort of grown to be my closest friend, his personality is just the most lovable thing when you get past all the flirting he does and just embrace him as a person. I think he could become my bestfriend, I don't really know, but I don't think Jasper likes him very much he just tends to act quite passive aggressive whenever Eric tries to talk to me while I'm with him, I'm not sure why, I have asked him but didn't get an answer.
It's currently Thursday and I'm really not feeling this day already, it's that time of the month and I want nothing more than to just crawl into my bed and overdose on chocolate.
But I asked for this I guess, lets just get through this.
Walking from my locker to my first my first period, I see Eric talking to Angela, they really should date they would make a very cute couple.
I wave at them as I walk past them, "Morning guys." I say with a groan.
"You don't look so good," Angela said with a small smile, "you good?"
I gave her a look, "Cramps."
"Oh," she commented, "I feel for you."
"You still look beautiful though," Eric said with a flirty smile, "as always." he finished.
I smiled at him knowing that he was lying but trying to make me feel better at the same time, "Thank you, Eric. I need to get to my class, I'll meet up with you guys later for lunch."
I walked in to my first class which was History, I see Jasper already in his seat, he looks pretty tense though almost wild-like, he looks like his having an even worse day than mine.

Staring at him I notice his eyes almost change colour and turn a bit red and his hands are gripping onto the table pretty hard making his already white knuckles even whiter.
I walk towards him, "Hey Jasper," he just stared are the table turning his head away from me almost as if he was disgusted by me.
Oh wow, that hurt I'm pretty sure I showered this morning and I definitely put on deodorant.
I sat down looking at him, "Jasper, are you okay?" I asked even more concerned than I was before.
He continued ignoring me, more people started walking into the classroom "Jazzy," I said calling out to him.
His head turned towards me so fast that a gasped, "Would you just shut up!" he growled at me making me jump in my seat, his eyes bright red.
I looked at him too terrified to say anything. He grabbed all his things and stomped his way out of the classroom, everyone turned to look at me whispering lowly, I sunk into my seat, my anxiety acting up a bit, thankfully the teacher walked in and started the lesson.
What just happened, I ask myself trying to get my breathing back to normal.
I close my eyes counting to ten.
My mind was everywhere, what did I do to Jasper to make him act like that towards me? Did he not want to be friends with me? Am I annoying? Was it Eric? Maybe I talk to much, I should try keeping quiet. Why were his eyes red like that?
At lunch I sat listening to everyone talk, Jess mentioned that the Cullens where looking at me, the whole time, not once did I look at them, maybe they are angry at me for whatever I did to Jasper.

I tried to get through the rest of the day still a bit jumpy and in pain.
Alice tried talking to me at some point, I just looked at her, smiled and walked away. Rude, I knowing but I was afraid she would flip out on me too.
The end of the day came quicker than expected and I've never been happier.
I didn't see Jasper the rest of the day but oh well.
I couldn't get his red eyes out of my mind.

Tautology
“Saying the same thing over and over again. For better or worse.” Aiden Lu awoke in a world that wasn’t his. There were familiarities, parallels, his old address, people he once knew, but people wielded superpowers, wondrous technology and magic beyond his age were used for the most mundane of tasks. Yet the world he awoke in was one dictated by constant conflict. Untold years ago, humanity crossed a line, a line that allowed integration to the wider Multiverse, an event that would later be known as The Apocalypse. Warp Gates to Otherworlds open completely at random, letting in alien things beyond comprehension or logic. Those who were blessed with power often give their lives to close these gates before the infections of alien realities become too great. The world is different in a way difficult for him to comprehend, yet there is a single difference that truly shook him, a sister dead in his old universe, alive but comatose here. Now reborn with his own unconventional power, he seeks to forge ahead, to continue on. Because in the end, a restart is a restart. One you can't hesitate to take advantage of. No matter where the path may lead, what can you do except to walk it? A modern post-post apocalypse story with both superpowers and high fantasy elements. Slow-paced and inspired by many of the things the author found enjoyable. Currently writing it for fun.

A Standard Model of Magic
The world ended, and magic came back. The part our parents didn't expect, was for Science to break on reentry. Twenty years after the apocalypse, with our nations dismantled and hidden continents unearthed, a new generation has grown up in the wreckage of 21st century civilization. For us, the fantastic is at our doorstep and we have had no choice but to fight back. Meanwhile, the laws of nature bend and break at the whims of immortal gods, all of which are now dead and none of which are content to stay that way. But we cannot afford to give up. We are the stewards of a rewritten century, in which a little luck and a whole lot of magic might make anything possible – maybe even a world better than the one we lost. A Standard Model of Magic is a complete overhaul of my old story A Storm in the Fall. I'm afraid I was unhappy with the LitRPG elements, which I don't mind reading, but I apparently loath writing. Sorry. Once I'd made the choice to decouple the story from the OF that inspired it and reconfigure the magic system to my satisfaction, little of the original plotline survived. I will be salvaging most of my original characters, and I will keep some elements which are endemic to the genre, but that is all. I don't have an update schedule which I can commit to yet, but I will try to maintain a weekly pace.(This is currently RoyalRoad exclusive, since I'm lazy. If you find it posted elsewhere, it wasn't me and it wasn't with permission) If you're interested, I've set up a discord.
