And so Taehyung couldn't concentrate at all during Spanish. He didn't even care that Jeongguk was slaying through the lesson, getting praises from the teacher while Taehyung stayed quiet.

He wondered if Jeongguk sent that girl away because of him. The urge to ask him why he did it burned inside of him.

"Why did you send that girl away earlier?"

Jeongguk didn't avert his gaze from the front. "I did?"

"Yes? I saw you."

A smirk formed on the ravenette's lips. "You watched me?"

Taehyung felt his heart make a thud, before he furrowed his eyebrows to a small glare. "That's not it. Nevermind, forget it—

"Say what you want to say," the ravenette cut Taehyung off and the younger felt his breath hitch for no reason.

"Nothing... I was just wondering why you send her away, then called me to sit here."

"Because this is your seat."

Taehyung shrugged. "We don't have assigned seats."

"But this is your seat. You always sit here," Jeongguk retorted stubbornly.

"I can survive a day not sitting here, you know?"

"I don't care. I was waiting for you anyways."

Warmth ran through Taehyung. "Why?"

"No reason."

Squinting his eyes at the ravenette, Taehyung leaned back in his seat. "What do you want?"

The older just chuckled, not giving Taehyung an answer, frustrating the blond a little. He should've stayed quiet..

"I really can't talk to you," he huffed, crossing his arms annoyed, as he turned to look outside, just like always.

"You like looking outside of the window, that's why," Jeongguk suddenly said.

"Pardon?" Taehyung questioned, turning to the ravenette, his heart speeding up a little.

"The view," Jeongguk made a curt nod towards the trees outside, "I know you like looking at it."

Taehyung just stared at the ravenette, mind blank. But heart running miles. What is this stupid black haired boy doing to him all of a sudden?

"Oh, okay," Taehyung just responded, pretending to give his teacher all the attention, when it was actually on his quick heartbeat and unsteady breathing.

And Jeongguk.

No, no, no. This is exactly what he tries to avoid.

Taehyung hates Jeongguk.

And that's it.

"I'm giving you your exam results back now," the teacher's words caught Taehyung's attention now and he looked up.

Right, their exams. He wondered what he scored. Or what Jeongguk scored, knowing both of the two are the best in class and are always being compared to each other.

"I wonder who of us was better," Jeongguk mumbled and it irked Taehyung that he sounded so confident.

"Heads down, Jeon. Thinking you were better?"

Jeongguk smirked, crossing his arms on the table. "Yes, I do."

"We'll see," Taehyung grinned as the teacher came closer to their table, placing the boys' results on the table.

Taehyung's eyes widened and he nervously glanced to Jeongguk. The blond had gotten 98%, which is definitely great, but increases the chance for Jeongguk to be better by 2%.

"What did you get?" Jeongguk asked.

"98%," Taehyung responded.

Jeongguk smirked. "Congrats, Shortie. I got 97%."

Taehyung's lips stretched into a smile, firstly out of relief and secondly because he was better.

"I told you so," he said, still with that smile.

Jeongguk shook his head softly.

"You're already home?"

Jeongguk halted. He wasn't surprised that whenever he gets home, his mother was immediately there to bombard him with questions. Jeongguk ignored her and put his jacket off, hanging it on the hook on the wall.

"Did you get your Spanish exam back?" She asked, following her son, who didn't respond.

"Jeongguk, talk to me!"

"Yes! I got it back. Jeez, let me enter first," he retorted, already planning on leaving again to go to Yoongi's. He hates it here.

"Show me your results," Mrs Jeon demanded and Jeongguk scoffed, taking his bag and pulling out his exam, handing it to his mother.

Her stern expression turned softer when she saw the results. "99%," she spoke and looked up to Jeongguk. "A shame that only 1% is missing."

Jeongguk rolled his eyes and grabbed the test from her, before walking upstairs into his room.

A deep sigh left his lips when he closed the door and walked towards his desk.

He placed the exam letter on his table, totally annoyed, but when he looked at the red 99% in a circle, his lips stretched into a small smile.

Yes, he had lied to Taehyung. No, he didn't get 97%.

But seeing Taehyung smile the way he did earlier was totally worth it.

It was strange when things changed and it was suddenly so obvious that Taehyung was trying to be so much better in ANYTHING than Jeongguk. The ravenette had of course noticed it.

In the beginning he thought it was because Taehyung wanted to gain his attention.

Now he wondered if there was something else hiding behind that facade.

"Please come to Yoongi's birthday party~" Jimin pleaded, clinging onto Taehyung's arm, on their way to the mall. The younger feared that Jimin would rip his arm out if he didn't stop.

"I don't think I will, I don't like being much around people," Taehyung mumbled. Actually he doesn't mind. Like really, he doesn't. Okay, yes, he can't stand alcohol, hates its taste and sometimes he hates loud music, too. But the reason he actually didn't want to go is because Jeongguk will be there.

"C'mon, there won't be many people. Jeongguk, Yoongi, me and five other friends, but they're really nice. You won't feel uncomfortable, I promise you. It's just a small party with no strangers, you don't have to worry about anything," Jimin explained.

Taehyung doesn't doubt that. He doesn't know what's scarier though, being at a party with tons of people he doesn't know, our being on a small party where he most probably has to hang out with his literal arc-enemy, that he quite misses like the stupid, pathetic idiot that he is. He sighed. "I'm just... not in the mood."

Jimin pouted. "Tae... it's my boyfriend's first birthday since we are together. You have to go."

Taehyung stared at Jimin for a while, cursing under his breath how the smaller's pout grew as he looked at him with puppy eyes. "Please," he pleaded again, "I even get on my knees if it's necessary."

Taehyung chuckled. "When's the party?"

"Tomorrow at 7pm. I'll send you Yoongi's address," Jimin squeaked with hope written over his whole face.

"I'll think about it," Taehyung responded and Jimin's hopeful expression fell.

"You won't come?"

"I said I'm thinking about it."

"That usually means 'no' in your language," Jimin mumbled in a pout.

Taehyung hated that he was so weak for his best friend's cuteness. "Fine."

"Really?!" Jimin squealed and hugged Taehyung, who rolled his eyes. "Thank you, thank you, thank you!"

"It's nothing special," he groaned, hugging Jimin back, because he feared he would fall if he didn't.

"You don't know how happy this makes me! It's great you're stepping out of your comfort zone. It won't be bad!"

Taehyung smiled.

Yeah, it won't be bad.
