SEVERAL DAYS LATER
"Gwen? We need to talk to you." Eleanor called to me through the closed bedroom door and over the loud Taylor Swift music. What? Let the Swifty listen to her music and cry about her break up!
I shut off the music and trudged out of the room, still in my pajamas, even though it was way past noon. Eleanor gently grabbed my arm and led me down the stairs. She led me into the commons room and I glanced out the balcony window. It was already dark outside and the fireplace was roaring. Like I said, way past noon. I sighed as I say down in a single chair, across from the couch all the girls occupied. I stared into the flames, wishing I could go back to my old life.
"Gwen?" Dani called me to attention and I looked over to her.
"Gwen, you've been walking around the house in your pajamas every day, you're becoming horribly thinner, and you don't have the light in your eyes anymore. We're really worried about you."
I stared at the floor, not saying anything, feeling hollow. Hollow's better than the stabbing pains I get when I think about him.
"Gwen, we heard your talk with Niall. Do you remember what he said?"
I nodded.
"Can you recite that to us?" Perrie asked me.
"He told me that he read Ha-his, emotions and that he was crying over me and that HE still loves me. But he's wrong, he only loves the Chris he sees in me." I sighed as I felt the stabbing pains in my chest.
"Gwen, you remind me so much like Chris-"
"But I'm not!" I screeched, finally losing it, and I began bawling,"That's what everyone sees in me! But I'm not Chris! I'm Gwen. But apparently Gwen isn't good enough."
I felt a pair of hands on my shoulders, carefully rubbing them. I pulled my hands away from me eyes and looked up to meet Eleanor's eyes.
"Gwen, let us finish. Chris was Harry's first love, and he lost her. He blames himself for it. But anything that reminds Harry of her makes him smile. You remind us all of Chris, you even look like her, but you're also different. You speak out, you are more outgoing, but you have one huge trait in common. You both live Harry and he loves you both. Chris was also a Blood Rose. But the sad truth, I can look back and see the possible outcomes of previous situations. If Harry were to have walked in there as a newborn vampire, because Chris was a Blood Rose, he would've killed her. He's able to control himself around you, which is really hard for all of us. We can only do it because we love you. If we didn't have such strong human instincts in us, our monsters inside us would've killed you long ago, and when we go full monster and lose all our human traits, we lose control. That's why those men burn you when they touch you, it's because they have full monster. Has Harry ever burnt you?" I shook my head."Does his touch feel colder than all of ours?" I nodded, not sure where this was going."Even when you two fought?" I nodded."That's because he has the strongest human emotions towards you."

"Gwen, we can see it in his eyes, he really, truly loves you. He loves you for you, not because you remind him of Chris, but because you are you." Perrie murmured to me. I could feel my heart beating fast in my chest again. I could feel my eyes shimmering with fresh tears.
"Gwen, what's wrong?" Dani asked, really concerned, as a tear slid down my cheek.
"Harry actually does love me!" I said through a smile."Maybe, when he was telling me he can't love me-"
"Oh yeah! You cut him off. We could hear him begin to say more, but you didn't let him finish!" Eleanor exclaimed as she clapped her hands.
"I need to call him!" I shouted as I jumped up. Eleanor handed me her phone and I scrolled through her contacts.
"Call Liam's. He always has his phone on!" Dani called.
I nodded and pressed Liam's contact. The phone began to buzz.
"Hello?" I heard Liam answer.
"Liam? It's Gwen."
"Oh, hey Gwen!"
"Can I talk to Harry?"
"He's really busy-"
"It's important!"
"I can take a message. I'm sorry, Gwen, he's just..."
"I understand. It's okay, I guess I'll just tell him in person when he gets off the plane..."
"Tomorrow!" Dani whispered.
"What?!"
"You've been so dead that you missed almost two weeks!" Dani exclaimed.
"Tomorrow!" I said into the phone to Liam.
"Actually... Harry's really busy... So he's staying here for a few more days..."
"Oh... Okay. Well, thanks, Liam..."
"No problem. Well, we gotta go, we're pretty busy."
"Okay, bye Liam."
"Bye, Gwen!" Then the call disconnected and I handed Eleanor her phone as she patted me on the back.
"Don't worry, you can meet him at the airport!" Perrie exclaimed with fake enthusiasm. I nodded, secretly falling into a chasm of despair.
"Oh no... Gwen, we recognize that face. It's okay, remember, Harry still loves you!" Dani exclaimed as she got up and hugged me. That made me feel better, really. I nodded.
"Let's get you to bed. You wanna look pretty for the rest of the boys, don't ya?" Eleanor asked. I laughed for the first time in almost two weeks. They all walked me up to my room and I climbed into my bed.

"Night, Gwen!" Dani called before she shut the door, leaving me in complete darkness.
Harry loves me. That thought alone warmed my heart. I fell asleep without crying myself to sleep for the first time in what felt like ages. Dreams of Harry and me back together danced around in my head all night.

"Hey, Gwen!" A chorus of voices shouted as I was tackled with hugs.
"Hey, guys!" I screamed as they all tickled me, causing me to laugh so hard that I began to cry.
"Let me up!" I screamed as they continued to tickle me. They all got off me, but a pair of arms picked me up and carried me to the couch, where I was dropped and tickled again by the boys.
"Come on, guys!" Eleanor said from the door way.
"OMG! Thank you, Eleanor!" I gasped. She was saving me from all of the obsessive tickling!
"At least let us have a go!" She squealed as she and the girls joined in. I screamed and gasped for air.
"Guys! Please!" I screamed, squirming until I fell off the couch. I was about to hit the ground, when a pair of hands caught me and pulled me up.
"Thank God, Niall!" I exclaimed, leaning up against him to escape the tickling fiends.
"Gwen, did you lose weight?" Niall asked me suddenly. I blushed, ashamed, and looked away from his piercing eyes.
"I can feel your embarrassment, Gwen," He whispered.
"I'm sorry."
"Don't be. Just eat more." he gave me a hug and we all stood up.
Let's go get some lunch!" We all went into the kitchen and began to cook lasagna.
"So... Why is Harry staying late?" I asked.
"We don't know... He said he was really busy," Zayn answered before he kissed Perrie.
"Hey! Not while I'm cooking!" Niall exclaimed. I laughed and felt like the Gwen I was before the break.
We finished cooking the lasagna and sat down at the table, ready to eat.
"We need to discuss the future..." Liam announced.
"What about it?" Louis asked before he took a bite of lasagna.
"The haters and BTR, they're still out there."
"Yeah, but they're not after Gwen anymore," Louis murmured, giving me a sympathy look.
"Well..." Zayn and Niall both said. We all turned to look at them.
"They don't just want Gwen for revenge, even though that was a strong feeling, they crave her blood immensely." Niall announced.
"And I read their minds. They would make her suffer, just to bother Harry, which we don't have to worry about anymore... Sorry, Gwen. But they also want her as a feeding source. They also want to sell her blood and Logan was eying her..."
"Crap." I said suddenly, which caused everyone to break out in laughter."Ah, well, them and every other vampire in existence want my blood."
"True!" Niall shrugged and stood up. We all helped with the dishes and I went upstairs. Nobody came to see me that night, so I fantasized about Harry and me until I fell asleep, eager to see him and tell him everything.

ICOMO ODYSSEY
Jonathan Vélo never expected to be famous. Not for riding his bike all the way around the continent of Icomo. Every adult knows his story, and children learn about him at school. This, however, is the first and only biography written about that great man with foreigners in mind. We, his biographers, imagine they will be immensely grateful. Of course, readers will find the people of Icomo an unusual sort for glorifying a young man who did nothing more than quit his job and ride his bike from town to town, city to city… But in an age of robots and computers, when little escapes the notice of the historian, there is a quiet epic to be told. It is the epic of cozy nights in a tent below the stars, of warm wind and ocean waves. It is also the epic of missing old friends in faraway places, and that feeling of needing to make life mean something. *** ‘ICOMO ODYSSEY’ is a nostalgic slice-of-life adventure about a utopian sci-fi land. No clever villains or epic fights here. Just cozy pleasures, charming towns and villages, interesting cultures, and the people who live in them… This story will update bi-weekly on Friday and Saturday. https://www.scribblehub.com/series/467210/icomo-odyssey/

BODY&SHADOW
AN ILLUSTRATED NOVEL • UPDATES TUESDAY AND FRIDAY In a time before living memory, the King Dragon of the Void watched the world and realized there was a crack. He realized that humanity was destroying the rock upon which they lived; they leaked life’s code into the churning chaos. At first the change was imperceptible: nanites overtook microorganisms, bacteria, viruses, amoebas. Insects became increasingly inorganic; birds and lizards followed soon after. Even humans were infected by their own advances, cell by cell, till there was not a person left on earth who wasn’t at least part synthetic, the product of a prior generation’s carelessness. The world’s population was ravaged by mechanical viruses with no vaccines; they were mercilessly overtaken by bacteria that knew no death. Soon, most of the planet was empty and only a handful remained who remembered the hedonist realm they came from; only a few were left who remembered what the world looked like when their buildings touched the sky. The King Dragon of the Void watched the rock turn. He watched humans cower as the Old World fell down around them; watched their great monuments crumble into dusty ruins; watched their codes become precious, ancient gem memories forged under the crushing pressure of so many fallen stones. The world has spun many times around the sun since chaos swallowed man whole. It is a simpler time than the one that died out, but the people now are not immune to the folly of the people before. There is old code everywhere: in the water, in the air, in the trees. The heart of man has been replaced by power cores, many of which are hard-coded with preternatural abilities—when they die, an esoteric mountain sect collects their cores and stores them in their hollow mountain home to preserve the sanctity and dignity of human death. They’ve learned to harness artifacts of the old world, gemstones full of codes their nanite infused bodies can parse as spells imbuing their users with great power; they inlay them into their bodies, into their skins, connected to their cores by copper conduit and gold tracers; they dress themselves in tattoos to advertise their prowess; they battle for relics in arenas, fight for them in the open world wherever they are found. The King Dragon of the Void watches the rock turn and wonders: when will this hunger finally make the rock stop spinning? WELCOME TO FANXING CITY … Twenty-five years ago, Fanxing City and the surrounding lands were commanded by the mad King Zao Beiguan. For many years, the King hoarded wealth, artifacts, food; he demanded tribute from a people already taxed to the edges of their existence and expected they be happy with their circumstances. Noncompliance was often punished harshly, bodies displayed proudly on Fanxing’s streets as a warning, from the city gates to the Zao palace’s golden doors. The youths of several prominent clans came together to overthrow the tyrant and made names for themselves as legendary heroes across the land: Tian, Ren, Feng, Gui, Ma, and Zhenxi. Even wanderers from the Luanshi sect descended from Yunji mountain to aid the rebellion. When the dust settled after three years, Tian Yunyong ascended the throne of Fanxing and swore to honour his slain father’s memory, and has maintained Fanxing’s peace with generosity and mercy where fear and cruelty once reigned.
