"Gwenny???"
My breath hitched as the flowers died around me. I jumped up. Not again!
"Oh, Gwendolyn?"
Oh, God! I went to run, but something wrapped around my waist and I shrieked.
"Harry?! Harry!! Help!" I screamed for the one person I trusted most right now.
Everything went dark and I screamed Harry's name again. I opened my eyes and found myself in a bed, Harry was holding me in his arms and was stroking my hair.
"Gwen, are you okay?"
"What happened?"
"You fell asleep in the car and you just began screaming and fighting in your sleep. What were you dreaming about?"
Did I wanna tell him? Yes. So I explained about the first dream I had with the vampire chasing me and the recent dream i just had. He was angry when I finished.
"Shit just got real. He cannot bother your mind! I won't allow it... Zayn?"
Harry called. Zayn and Perrie appeared by his side.
"Yeah?"
"A vampire has been harassing Gwen through her sleep. Do you think you could...?"
"Yeah, sure."
"Zayn can put barricades on your mind so other vampires can't find it." Harry explained.
"Okay, this might hurt, but I need to slip into your mind and fix it up in there first." I nodded, and Zayn put his hand against my temple and closed his eyes as Harry wrapped his arms around my waist.
I felt something poking my mind, then I felt a blade pierce into it and something slip into it as I cried out and squirmed, but Harry's arms tightened and held me in place.
Finally, the slicing stopped, but I felt something prodding around inside and I winced. Then I felt my mind slowly closing itself off from the world. I felt the slicing pain again and I screamed, but Harry held me tight and whispered things in my ears, which I couldn't process. I felt the presence withdrawing and felt my mind fully close itself. I let out a sigh as Zayn drew his hand away from my temple.
"Thanks, Zayn," I panted, and he nodded.
"See ya at dinner," He said, then he and Perrie left the room. I was finally mentally safe, for now...
Since I had just had a freaking heart attack and would probably need a pacemaker if I were to go to sleep again, I decided to go get myself cleaned up. But first, I had to talk with Harry and get him to leave. I don't care if he's my boyfriend, he is not seeing me even remotely close to naked any time soon.
"Harry? Thanks for everything."
"Gwen, there's no need to thank me." He murmured before he embraced me I lightly kissed his lips and he smiled.
"Why don't you go get cleaned up for dinner?"
I laughed."Do I really look that bad?"

"No, it's just... Your clothes... And... I love you?"
I laughed even harder,"I was kidding, Harry. I love you, too."
He blushed then walked out of the room as I continued to laugh. I walked into my bathroom and shut the door, ready to get ready for dinner.
*****
I walked into the kitchen to help with dinner and saw the boys playing real life fruit ninja minus the explosives, plus the balloons filled with flour. Louis was standing in the middle, wielding a butcher's knife as Niall and Zayn threw fruit at him. Harry, Eleanor, Perrie, and I all stood watching them.
Louis sliced through another banana with vampire abilities and but through a strawberry as Harry caught them in a bowl. Louis got so caught up that he accidentally hit a flour bomb and got flour all over his hair.
"Your total score is ninety six!" Niall announced. A round of applause sounded through the kitchen and I laughed. What else would the boys be doing in the future?
Everyone turned to me and smiled. Harry put the bowl down and grabbed my hand. He picked me up and sat me down on the clean counter.
"We're having fruit salad with dinner," Eleanor exclaimed as she dusted the flour out of Louis's hair. He had his eyes closed as flour cascaded around him. Once it was all out of his hair, she leaned forward and kissed him while I smiled. What? I'm a sap, okay?
"Your turn Zaynie!" Louis called once he and Eleanor separated.
"Naw, I'm good."
"What? You scared to muss your pretty hair?" Louis asked in a Girly voice and fluffed at his hair and batted his eye lashes.
"Zayn huffed."No, I just don't wanna completely crush you."
"Crush Louis at what?" Liam asked as he walked in with Danielle.
"Fruit ninja!" Niall replied.
"What? Oh, not again! Remember what happened last time?!" Liam asked.
"What happened?" I questioned.
"You don't wanna know..."Harry replied with a laugh.
"Clean this up so we can eat soon." Liam commanded and we all laughed. He sounded like such a dad.
*****
Once the mess was cleaned up, we we sat down at the table and ate lasagna and fruit salad.
"So are you feeling better, Gwen?" Perrie asked me.
"Yeah, way better. Thanks for defending me."
"We would never let them take you, Gwen. You're part of this family now." Eleanor said as she patted my shoulder. I gave her a thankful smile.
"So what are our plans for tonight?" Dani asked.
"How about movies, Truth or Dare, and some popcorn?" Liam suggested.
"Yeah!!!" We all replied.
We all stood and helped clean up the dinner dishes before we all ran to the entertainment room to put on a movie.
"Batman!" Liam called out.
"Toy Story!" Louis cried.

"Love, Actually!" Harry offered and we all laughed. I showed the girls a movie and they nodded with wide smiles. I put it in and sat down next to Harry.
The movie began to play and I smiled as Howl's Moving Castle came on. Harry put his arm around me and pulled me closer to him.
I loved this movie! It was sweet how even though Sophie was old, Howl still managed to love her and was able to bring back the young Sophie and they fell in love. Sophie even broke the curse on the prince. Howl was my favorite character, maybe because Christian Bale played Howl'a voice.
Once the movie was over, we had gone through five bags of popcorn and we were ready for a game of truth or dare.
Oh God. Louis and Truth or Dare is a terrifying thought. I almost peed myself at that thought as I sat down between Harry and Louis.
"Alright. Louis, truth or dare?" Liam asked.
"Dare!" He answered and Liam looked thoughtful before a smile broke across his face.
"You have to be completely and totally serious until your next turn!"
"As if!" Niall called out, and we all laughed while Louis sat there with a Serious Buisness face.
"Alright. Niall. Truth or dare?" Louis asked with a poker face and a monotone that gave my old social studies teacher a run for his money.
"Dare!"
"Hmmmm. I dare you to... Walk across the room and back in Gwen's heels!"
"What? Are you implying I have enormous feet?"I asked as Louis struggled for his poker face.
"No. You simply have the biggest heels out of all the girls in here."
I sighed and handed Niall a pair of my heels. He glared at Louis, who still had a poker face, as he tugged the heels on and stood up.
"Oh my god, how do you women manage to walk in these damn miniature death traps?" he asked as he wobbled a bit then began to walk the given distance.
He only fell twice before he got back, tugged them off, and handed them to me.
"Okay... Eleanor, truth or dare?"
"Truth?"
"When did you have your first kiss?"
"I was thirteen, during the summer, at the beach."
I couldn't help but let out my inner sap as I awwwwwwwed.
"Perrie, truth or dare?"
"Dare."
"Sit like a Barbie Doll until your next turn."
"How do I do that?"
"Just look really stiff..."
"Okay... Harry, truth or dare?"
"Dare," he said with a cheeky grin.
"Snog Gwen for thirty seconds straight," Perrie dared him with a mischievous glint in her eyes.
"What?!" I asked.
"You heard, now kiss your boyfriend!"
Crap. Not in front of all these people!
"Okay..." Harry pressed his lips against mine and we snogged until Perrie shouted time.
"Let's see... Gwen, truth or dare?"
"Truth...?" I was sure as hell not taking my chances with a dare.
"What's the most embarrassing thing you've ever done?"
Crap. But I had to, so..."One time a guy pissed me off by trying to tell me what to do, so I screamed at him in front of the entire lunch room about being on my menstral cycle..."
Everyone stated at me then broke into a chorus of laughter as I mentally face palmed at my embarrassing past.
"And how'd that all go down?" Dani asked.
"I was vehemently speaking to my friends when he randomly jumped into our conversation and lectured me about being loud and I said,'You aren't my mother, you can't tell me what to do, so just shut up! I'm on my menstral cycle so you can just suck it!'(the sad thing is, that story is completely true and that actually did happen to me earlier this year at lunch...) I wasn't in the best of moods that day..." I trailed off as everyone died of laughter while Louis was straining horribly to keep his poker face.
"Louis, truth or dare?" I asked, desperate to save him from serious business.
"Dare!"
"Wear bright red lipstick until your next turn!" I decided, then tossed him the tube. He smirked as he smeared it on.
"Liam, truth or dare?" Louis asked as Liam tapped his chin.
"Dare."
"Hold five spoons until your next turn." Louis said with a smirk as Liam gulped.
"S-spoons?"
"Yep! Here ya go!" He tossed Liam five spoons, who caught them like they were dirty diapers. He scowled at Louis as the game continued and I laughed my arse off the whole time. Atlast, it was time for bed. I waved good night to everyone as I trudged up the stairs and got ready for bed.
I climbed into my comfortable bed and snuggled into the fluffy mattress, wondering if I would get a peaceful night tonight. Thanks to Zayn, I should. Right?

The Girl from the Mountain
Alexandra Bedford is a weapon, a young woman with telekinetic powers capable of leveling entire cities, born to fight in the desolate remains of post-apocalyptic North America. There is only one problem: she may be losing control of her abilities. Sixteen years after a global pandemic devastated the earth’s population, the lines in the old United States have been drawn between the Cheyenne Directorate in Colorado and the New England Alliance on the East Coast. The Directorate, of which Alexandra is a part, is a small but powerful organization dedicated to returning the country to its former glory. However, when a diplomatic mission to the New England Alliance goes wrong, Alexandra finds herself at the center of a bloody civil war. Battles are fought on the old highways and in dilapidated towns and once-great cities. And as the conflict escalates, all of North America faces the threat of being burnt away by nuclear fire. Against this backdrop of war, Alexandra tries to uncover the long-hidden secrets behind the plague, her abilities, and the two men fighting to decide the fate of the United States - Henry Bedford, Alexandra's father and leader of the Directorate, and John Martin, the mysterious figure at the heart of the New England Alliance who may hold the key to everything she seeks. None of this will matter, however, unless Alexandra can prevent the power growing inside her from taking over and consuming the very world she is fighting to save. Author's Notes: I appreciate you taking a look at my novel, The Girl from the Mountain. If you're a fan of post-apocalyptic fiction, military thrillers, and/or cosmic horror, I think you'll enjoy this story. I completed the novel's first draft back in 2011 and made significant changes in 2016. Since then, I've more-or-less sat on the manuscript while working on other projects. Thanks to a bit of prodding, I've decided to send this story out into the wild with some touch-ups and additional revisions. I welcome any comments or criticisms, and I hope you enjoy The Girl from the Mountain!
