"I think we should end this relationship once and for all."
—
At your mere words, Asmodeus felt his heart pause.
Forcing out a laugh, he spoke. "Oh, (M/n). You're bad at jokes, you know that?"
"...You know I'm not kidding." You resisted the urge to fidget. Asmo's face dropped promptly.
A very tense and uncomfortable silence filled the hallways, bits and pieces of other noise from far away being the only thing filling your ears right then. You couldn't help but fidget with the hem of your sleeves.
After a few, Asmodeus decided to be the one to break the silence.
"...End our relationship?"
"...What else could I possibly be referring to?" You forced out a chuckle, though it may have just come out awkward. "I just...think it's better to move forward, Asmo."
"What does that even mean?" Asmodeus was finding it hard to maintain his composure. "(M/n), what did I do this time...?"
"You didn't do anything, Asmo."
"I...did what you asked though, didn't I?" He began to fidget slightly by tucking strands of his hair behind his ear. "I've...been good, haven't I?"
"Yes, Asmo. But I–"
"Then what's wrong...?"
"...It's great that you've learned, honestly." You placed your index finger by the side of your cheek idly. "Then that means you'll know what to do when you're in a proper relationship."
"...Isn't this a proper relationship?" The champagne-haired male wasn't getting where you were coming from at all.
Yes, you had been distant with him for a few days before, then it was fine again. And now this?
Light orange eyes met yours, only for you to look away uncomfortably.
"I–"
"Then what was that about?" Asmodeus suddenly interrupted. You paused.
"That?" You repeated, confused. He crossed his arms, eyes narrowing.
"If one of us is going to be breaking this relationship, it's going to be you, Asmo. That's how it's going to be." He recalled word-by-word, almost in a mocking tone. "So, were you just...giving me false assurance, is that it?"
"Well, no...I–"
"Oh, whoops! I guess this attempt at a break up wasn't valid." He childishly concluded. Asmodeus then turned away with a stubborn huff. "Great, then you can't break up with me for no valid reason."
You were startled by the retort.
"Asmo, that's–"
"Oh no! I think my hearing is getting worse." He dismissed with a grin. "I'll see you later, hun!"
Grabbing your hand, he pressed a light kiss on your knuckles.
Just as you figured he'd leave so you wouldn't be able to add onto your point, he unexpectedly throws both his arms around your shoulders and pulls you close.
You could barely register the fact that he was now embracing you because it was so sudden.
Your mind drew blank.
...
When you came to, you were already hugging him back.
You blinked twice.
If you didn't know better, you'd have thought you were previously hugging him tighter, too.
It was ridiculous.
And now wasn't the time to space out.
"...I'm sorry." You meekly whispered. The male currently buried on your torso tightened his grip on your body. He whispered back in a firm tone, "Don't you dare apologize."
And just like that, he pulled away.
Both of his hands soon hid behind him as he shot you a makeshift grin. "You should go. Lunch is about to be over, and I don't want you to be late."

Hidden from your eyes, Asmo began to fidget with his hands. He pressed his lips together nervously, one thought repeating in his mind.
'Drop it. Dropitdropitdropit, please...'
"...Yeah."
Asmodeus could barely hide his relief behind his usual charming smile. You gave him a small wave before turning around and taking your leave.
As soon as you could no longer see him, Asmodeus' smile dropped as he peered into your retreating form.
The corner of his lips dipped into a frown as he clenched the fabric of his uniform above his chest.
He sighed.
"...What are you going to do if I don't want to?"
- - -
Your next class was with Satan, you noticed. He waved you over as soon as you entered the room. Upon further inspection, you found he was the only one there.
Maybe because it was about thirty minutes until class would begin.
"(M/n), good afternoon." He greeted with a smile. You gave him a nod in return. "Yes, good afternoon to you too."
"..." Satan flipped open a book. You took a quick glance at him.
"Hey, did you tell Belphegor to tell me that you were in the library earlier?"
"What? No, why would I?" He was confused. You shook your head in dismissal. "Never mind, then."
"..."
"..."
"...But I wouldn't have minded if you had gone to the library to accompany me." Satan shamelessly grinned at you. You deadpanned. "Why would you want me to be there?"
"You're pretty good company, honestly." Satan flipped the book shut. "And, because I like you."
"..."
"..."
"Because you like my company–"
"Because I like you."
You looked away with an awkward smile. "Very funny. I never knew you had a tendency to flirt so much, actually."
"I don't."
"Then what is this?" You chuckled. He hummed thoughtfully before chuckling as well. "You don't take people seriously, do you?"
"I do take people seriously, Satan. What do you mean?" You felt insulted by his words alone. The male shook his head lightly with a calm smile. "Well, you don't take me seriously, and you certainly don't take Asmo seriously too."
Your body turned rigid under his comment.
"...What about you and Asmo? Satan, you can't seriously mean all those flirty crap you just said a moment ago, right?"
"Well, for one, you are kind of my type." He chuckled to himself.
...
That didn't hit as hard as his words would have.
And you knew damn well that wasn't a good sign.
You laid your chin on the palm of your hand, arm propped up against your desk. "I'm not really that unique, don't you think? I'm pretty boring to be around."
"I don't think so."
"I don't believe that one bit."
"With the way you're acting, I don't think I'll be able to convince you easily." Satan playfully rolls his eyes. "By the way, satisfy my curiosity."
A smile filled with mischief grew on his lips. "Why is it you and Asmo are seemingly always on the verge of a break up, anyway? Is he no good?"
"No. If anything, he's too good." You half-heartedly spoke with sarcasm. Satan raised a brow. "A shame."
"A shame?" You repeated with a quick laugh. He chuckled.
"Yeah. I can't exactly pin for you since you're in a relationship, anyway." He shrugged, fingers brushing through the pages of his book as he flipped to a certain page. "Asmo really got lucky with you, didn't he?"

You took a few moments to process what he just said. Lips drawing into a thin line, his words repeated in your head once more.
'Asmo really got lucky with you, didn't he?'
You doubted that.
Parting your lips, you were about to express your thoughts to Satan, only for students to start pouring inside the room with loud chatters. Satan didn't seem to notice you as he took out a sheet of paper.
Slowly, you sunk back to your seat, left with fewer answers and more questions.
- - -
Once class was dismissed, you caught wind that some of your next periods would be vacant due to some error from the faculty. Whatever it was, you weren't made aware.
You took out your phone, instinctively tapping on Asmodeus' contact.

You pressed on the 'off' button. Lifting your head up, you observed your seatmate.
Satan was taking his time in organizing his items as you waited patiently. His eye darted to you for a split second before a smile graced his lips.
"Need anything from me?"
"Just answers." You promptly replied. By now, just about you and Satan were the only ones left in the room.
"Ask away."
"...Why would Asmo be lucky to have me?" You didn't bother to beat around the bush. Satan paused, momentarily moving his head to look at you.
"...Really?"
"Really what?" You raised a brow. Satan hummed.
Though, just before you could get your answer, a familiar voice was heard from the door of the classroom.
"I heard your next few classes are vacant, (M/n)."
Both you and Satan were spooked to hear Lucifer, who looked amused. The blond male's eye twitched. "What are you doing here?"
"I came to speak with (M/n), of course."
What the fuck did I do this time?!
Your body went frigid. The unfazed Satan crossed his arms with a huff. "What about him?"
"...Since your next few periods are vacant, (M/n)," Lucifer paid no mind to his brother's hostility. "I figured that would mean you're free, right?"
"...And if I say no?" You jokingly questioned. Lucifer chuckled. "You owe me this, do you not? Or are you like Mammon, who likes to rack up his debts?"
"What does he even owe you?" Satan scoffed. The eldest closed his eyes. "The student who snuck a cat inside the campus."
"What about him?"
"Offered to bail him out in exchange for a favor for your brother." You frowned in defeat. Satan looked visibly displeased. "...Alright, easy. I'll go find that student and have him take the punishment instead–"
"Please don't." It would be a waste, anyway.
"By the way, Satan, you offered to watch over the library at this hour, correct?" Lucifer reminded. "I think you should get going."
"Don't tell me what to do." With an angered huff, Satan slung his bag over his shoulder haphazardly before stomping away. Though, just before he left completely, he cocked his head back to look at you.
"Call me when you need help, (M/n)."
"...Thanks." You won't make it in time if I called, but at least you'll make it to my funeral.
You kept the last part to yourself and turned to the demon. "Now, what do I owe you?"
Lucifer hummed.
"I require your assistance regarding Student Council work."
"...Excuse me?" Your brows furrowed. Lucifer's hand clasped onto your shoulder firmly, an innocent smile gracing his lips. He repeated his request as if you were illiterate.
"I require your assistance regarding Student Council work."
"...Haha. No you don't."
"...You owe me, do you not?" Lucifer smiled, smugness radiating off of him. You grimaced.
"Ugh, I knew I'd regret that."
"Follow me."
He began walking away just like that, plainly expecting you to follow along without any qualms. With an unamused expression, you trailed along.
Bringing out your phone, your thoughts went on auto-pilot, eventually landing on Asmodeus' contact once more to tell him of your situation.

You promptly shoved your phone back into your pocket.

"I don't understand why you insist I'd help you with these things."
You tapped the bottom of the papers on the desk to straighten them. Lucifer had led you back to the student council after that, ordering you to take a seat on Asmodeus' desk since it was quite close to his'.
You noticed that other than you and Lucifer, the student council room was void of anyone else, most likely because it wasn't everyone that had vacant periods. Not wanting to be alone with the demon for long, you began to work just about immediately.
Lucifer hummed.
"It's because the rest of them only know how to mess around and procrastinate." He scoffed lightly. "Mammon is good at financial distribution, but he sneaks in a few ghost costs to get money. Satan and Belphegor are perfectly capable, but they both make it a point to spite me."
"What about Asmo?" The corner of your lips tugged upwards unintentionally at the thought of the male. Lucifer's eyes flickered to your expression for a moment. "Easily distracted, so he's a bit slow on deadlines."
"What about me? Don't you think my work is slack or something?"
"You're not bad."
Sheesh, man. Was that a compliment or not?
"Then why ask me?"
You began to write on a few papers with a pencil.
"I just told you, you're not bad." Lucifer sighed. You could only chuckle in response.
"You could just be honest and tell me I'm good."
The male neither confirmed, nor denied your words.
Neither of you two spoke for about a minute or so, focusing on the task at hand. Or at least, you were.
Lucifer suddenly hummed in a moderately loud manner, garnering your attention successfully.
"That's strange."
"Hm?"
"Asmo's supposed to have vacant periods too, based on the error." Lucifer mused out loud. You couldn't help but stop moving at the information.
'...Right. I didn't ask him.'
"...And?" You forced yourself to keep going. "What's so strange about it?"
"Well, I assumed he'd come running to you or the student council immediately."
"..."
...
How depressing...
Was Lucifer ridiculing you or something?
A spare pen fell off the desk due to your negligence. Lucifer watched as you backed the chair away and picked up the pen, albeit in a slight sulky manner. His eyes narrowed.
Once again, silence enveloped you two as nothing but a pencil gliding through paper was heard. Lucifer was silently reviewing previous paperwork as you carefully processed information from the paper and scribbled on a scratch paper.
You failed to notice him sneaking discreet glances in your direction.
Finally, he spoke up.
"...Is it appropriate to ask what 'that' was about?" He began. You paused.
"What is that?"
"...You told Asmo your relationship was nothing more than mere 'acting.'" Lucifer clarified.
Great. Lucifer brought you here to talk about Asmo.
"How do you know about that?" You retorted.
"..." Lucifer didn't reply for a few, almost as though he was hesitating. Exhaling lightly, he closed his eyes momentarily.
"...If you two would have moved your conversation somewhere more inconspicuous, then I wouldn't have heard it on my way to the room."
"...Hm." Sure.
"..."
"..."
"...So?"
Unsure of how to answer properly, you only grinned. "I didn't take you for a guy who'd be interested in dramas, Lucifer."
"Well, you pegged me correctly the first time. I'm not." He shook his head. "I'm only concerned for Asmo himself."
Rolling your eyes teasingly, you continued to write.
"Whatever. Basically, when Asmo started this relationship, he admitted that he only wanted a relationship for...experience."
"Experience?" Lucifer repeated.
"Yeah. I guess I found it to be a little odd, but I agreed." You shrugged. "So that's what I'm doing. Providing Asmo what he wished from the start."
"...So you're not treating this as a normal relationship?"
"Well...yeah."
"...(M/n), you don't seriously think Asmo is that shallow, don't you?"
"I don't know Asmo that well."
"You do." Lucifer remarked unhesitatingly.
Your eyes flickered to him for a split second. "Sure."
"..."
"..."
"Then, why bother doing it now?"
Not interested in dramas my ass.
"Nosy, are we?"
"(M/n)."
"Alright, alright. What's so strange about doing it?"
"It's not about the act, but the timing."
"Is today a special day or something?"
"No. It's more of...how random it is "
"I think that's the point." You flipped to another page. "It's not something to be expected, Lucifer. That's why it's random. It's no longer random, when you expect it–"
"..." Lucifer looked quite positively done with your shit. "...I don't need you to reiterate what random is."
You rolled your eyes playfully, scanning the document for sufficient information. "Anything wrong?"

An infinite time... one devoid of the rules life and death that have been set upon me... a time that I should own... and one that I do own, from on, and forever. 8 196For the Hoard
Ergo the dragon is enjoying his seasonal hibernation when human explorers from another world invade his lair. Sucked into an unknown land, and reduced to a fledgling dragon by the loss of his hoard; Ergo must struggle to survive in a world that has been utterly subjugated by humanity. More importantly, will he ever get to finish his hibernation!? note: while I ticked the boxes for sexual/traumatizing content, I mostly did that to keep my options open. I don't currently have any planned, nor do I expect it to be a significant part of the story. After all, the main character is literally a dragon.
