《Heart (Depth Sequel)》8

Well Isabella's Junior year flew by way too quickly. Isabella and Scarlett went back to back and lead their team to a second consecutive state title and they both were honored as Under Armour All-Americans again.
MY DAUGHTER'S A FUCKING BEAST.
Isabella also went to prom with Scarlett and I tried really hard not to cry when I saw Isabella in her dress. She just looked so beautiful.
To celebrate the girls success the Heath family joined Lindsey, Isabella, and I on a vacation to the Bahamas after the girls Junior year finished. We asked Alex to bring her family, but Alex's parents are taking their whole family, all the sisters and their families, on a family vacation.
We've been in the Bahamas for four days and right now Isabella, Scarlett, and I are outside hitting a volleyball around while Lindsey, Christen, and Tobin are making lunch
"Can I ask you girls something?" I say.
"Sure." Isabella says.
"Why didn't you two want to play soccer?"
"Uh for me I didn't really want to be compared to you and Mommy...Sorry."
"Yeah me either, but with my Mom's." Scarlett says.
"That's cool...and you girls don't need to be sorry. We just want you to be happy and if playing volleyball makes you happy then like always we'll always be in the front row of each game cheering you on." I say.
Isabella makes a hard wayward hit and I chase after it and dive to hit it.
"Nice hit mom." Isabella says.
"Thanks." I say and try to get up, but my vision get's blurry. "I-I-Isabella." I barely get out.
"Mama what's wrong." Isabella says and I feel her put her hands on my face.
"G-get your m-mother."
"MOMMY." Isabella yells. "MOMMY COME QUICK."
"Bella?" I hear Lindsey say.
"MOMMY SOMETHING'S WRONG WITH MAMA." Isabella yells and then I hear three sets of feet running on the deck then I hear the sound of people running on sand.
"Baby what's wrong?" Lindsey asks when she gets to me.
"I-it's happening again." I say.
I'm then lifted into someone's arms and then I feel air on my face indicating who ever is carrying me is running.
"Put her in our bedroom." Lindsey says.
I'm then placed on our bed and I squint and see Lindsey searching for something in our closet.
"I need one of you to stay and do CPR and I need the other one to take Bella and Scarlett out of here." Lindsey says after she finds it.
"I'll stay." Christen says then comes over and starts doing CPR on me.
"I'm not going anywhere." Isabella says.
"Now Isabella." Lindsey says.
I grab Isabella's hand.
"Listen to your Mommy baby." I say.
Isabella sighs then nods and kisses my forehead. Tobin, Scarlett, and Isabella leave the room and Lindsey opens up the defibrillator.
"Where the fuck is that thing?" Lindsey says to herself and looks around the room.
She's looking for my portable EKG machine. Sadly we have to have a kit so Lindsey can treat me incase something like this happens.
"Bedside table." I say and Lindsey gets it out.
Lindsey puts the EKG machine on me and takes a base line reading.
"Okay it's still going on so I have to continue." Lindsey says and I nod. Lindsey then gets the defibrillator ready. "Ready?"
I nod and Lindsey puts the pads on me and lets it analyze my heart.

"It says you need a shock...I'm sorry baby." Lindsey says and I move my hand around and find one of Lindsey's hand.
"Do what you need to do Princess." I say then look at Christen. "Look away please." I ask and she removes her hands and looks away so Lindsey removes my bikini top.
"Ok. 3...2..." Lindsey says and I release her hand on 2. "...1." Lindsey presses the button and I receive the shock and holy fuck that hurt.
I let out a grunt and try not to scream in pain then there is beeping coming from the machine. Lindsey looks over everything then looks at me.
"You're okay baby." Lindsey says.
"Thank fuck. That hurt like shit." I say and Lindsey puts my bikini top back on then Christen looks at me.
"What the hell Cairo." Christen says then lightly smacks my arm. "Don't scare me like that."
"Sorry." I say and Christen leans down and kisses my head then leaves the room at shuts the door behind her.
Lindsey then removes everything and puts it up then comes over and cuddles up to me and puts her head in my neck. We stay like this for a while until my neck gets wet and I see Lindsey start to shake.
"Princess look at me." I say and Lindsey removes her head from my neck so I put both of my hands on her face. "I'm so sorry. I'm fine now baby. I'll be okay."
"What if you're not? What if this happens again and you don't make it? Baby I can't lose you. Isabella can't lose you. I need my wife. I-" Lindsey says, but I kiss her to cut her off.
"Babygirl I'm so sorry this happened. When we get home you, me, and Isabella will all go to the cardiologist and the three of us will decide what to do. Okay?"
"Okay." Lindsey says.
We then get off the bed and Lindsey helps me change out of my bikini and then helps me into a crop top and shorts. We then leave our room and walk down the stairs and down to the kitchen only to see the Heath family, but not our daughter.
"She cried herself to sleep." Tobin says.
"Oh." I say then grab some lunch and go sit outside on the deck in a lounger and just think about everything.
An hour or so later Lindsey comes out and takes my trash and hands me a drink.
"Is she..." I say, but lose my voice at the end.
"She's still asleep baby." Lindsey says and I look at the ocean.
"I'm so stupid." I say causing Lindsey to sigh and straddle my lap.
"No baby you're not. You're just being a good parent and protecting your child."
"She probably hates me." I mumble
"No Cairo, she doesn't." Lindsey says.
I don't respond. I just put my head in her chest and hug my wife. Lindsey hugs me back and we stay like this for awhile until she pulls away from the hug and kisses me then gets up and goes back into the house. I stay outside and stare out at the water and I do this for what seems like a few minutes, but in actuality is a couple hours. I know this because the sun is now setting.
Just as I'm about to head back inside I hear the back door shut causing me to turn around and see my daughter with a tear stained face.

I stand up and open my arms.
"Come here baby." I say.
Isabella runs and jumps into my arms.
"I was so scared Mama." She says then I put her down.
"I'm so sorry baby."
"Why didn't you tell me?" Isabella says then starts hitting my chest.
I know she's just doing it because she was scared, afraid, and probably angry.
"Should we stop her?" I hear Scarlett ask.
I'm guessing everyone is watching.
"No. Just let her get it out." Lindsey says.
"Hey hey it'll be okay baby." I say and grab Isabella's hands and wrap them around me causing her to hug me like I'm going to disappear.
"I can't lose you Mama...I need you." Isabella says.
"I need you to Isabella. I'm so sorry I didn't tell you. I didn't want to scare you."
Lindsey and I never told Isabella why I retired. She's never asked why so we didn't tell her about my condition.
"Mama?"
"Yes Bella Boo."
"What happened?" Isabella asks.
"Hold on." I say. "Princess can you come out here please?"
Lindsey comes out and we all sit around on the deck. Isabella still has a vice like grip on me so I sit down and pull her onto my lap.
"Okay so I have a condition called Long QT Syndrome which is a heart rhythm condition that can potentially cause fast, chaotic heartbeats which may trigger sudden fainting spells or seizures. I've known about it since I was fifteen and..." I say then look away from Isabella. "It's what caused me to retire."
"I thought you just retired because you want to raise me."
"I did, but this was the main driving force."
"Mama how long have you known?" Isabella asks.
"Since the day she retired." Lindsey says and Isabella looks at me in questioning manner.
"I never told anyone until that day sweetie." I say.
"Is it treatable?"
"There's no cure. It can only be managed with medicine...idiotically I haven't taken any medicine for it because up until today I didn't trust taking medicine since it's the reason I have this condition in the first place."
"Are you gonna die?...Don't you dare lie to me. You promised you wouldn't." Isabella says.
"This doesn't change my life expectancy, but if what happened today goes on for a long period of time then yes I may die."
"Mama." Isabella croaks out then puts her head in my neck.
"Hey hey it's okay baby...come on let me see those eyes." I say and Isabella removes her head from my neck and looks at me. "There's those beautiful eyes."
"Please don't leave me." Isabella whispers.
"Sweetie when we get back home the three of us will go see a cardiologist and the three of us will decide what to do okay?" I say and Isabella nods.
I wipe the tears from her face and Lindsey moves her chair closer to us and rubs Isabella's back while holding one of her hands.
"Tell us what you're thinking Baby. Just get everything off your chest." Lindsey says.
"I don't wanna lose either of you. I know I act all grown up, but in reality I'm just a scared little girl who needs her Mama and Mommy. I don't want to wake up one day and have to live without either of you."
Well this conversation just got a whole lot deeper.
"Isabella I need you do something for me okay?" I ask and she nods. "I need you to trust me and close your eyes."
Isabella does so I take one of her hands and put it on my heart.
"Isabella Océane Horan I am not going anywhere anytime soon." I say and Isabella takes a deep breath and nods.
Lindsey takes Isabella's other hand and puts it on her heart.
"Isabella Océane Horan I am not going anywhere anytime soon." Lindsey says and Isabella takes a deep breath again and nods.
I then take my hand off Isabella's then reach over and grab Lindsey's hand and put our conjoined hand's on Isabella's heart.
"Isabella open your eyes baby." I say and she does. "One day your mother and I won't be here anymore..." Isabella looks confused then I see a look of realization in her face. "But we will always be with you." I say and push on her heart with our hands hoping she gets what I'm saying. "Isabella I know today was scary for you and I'm so sorry for causing that."
"Can we not talk about this?"
"Bella it's better to talk about this now then when it's too late." Lindsey says and Isabella sadly nods.
"Life can be a bitch Isabella...but it can also be an amazing thing...I never told you what happened when I got to Iceland did I?"
"No." Isabella says
"You almost weren't born Bella." Lindsey says knowing I still have a hard time talk about what happened.
"W-what do you mean?" Isabella asks.
"When I got to Iceland I was in a very dark place and I-I almost took my life."
"Mommy." Isabella whispers as she looks at me.
I now know just how upset she is. She only calls me mommy when she's very very upset.
"I never knew why I didn't, but the moment I laid eyes on your Mommy I knew that somehow the universe decide it wasn't my time to go yet...and everyday I'm so thankful that I lived that day...because I am married to the woman of my dreams and I have the perfect daughter." I say.
"I don't want you either of you to die. You're my mom's. You're my hero's and nothing is ever suppose to happen to you." Isabella says.
"Bella life is like that. We don't get to choose when our time is up, we just get to choose how to enjoy the time we have." Lindsey says.
"No matter what happens in the future..." I say then Lindsey and I grab one of Isabella's hands. "Isabella, your Mommy and I could not be more proud of the young women you have become. We love you so so so much and are so proud to be your parents and to be able to call you our daughter."
"I love you too." Isabella says and then we have a family hug.
"Now..." I say and wipe the tears from my daughter's and my wife's eyes. "Let's eat."
"Before we go inside can I ask you something?" Isabella says.
"Of course." Lindsey says.
"Can I sleep with you two tonight?"
"We would love nothing more than that." I say.
"We come baring gifts." Christen says from behind me.
We turn around a see the Heath family with a couple of boxes of pizza.
"We thought that since today has been stressful we should just order pizza and chill out here." Tobin says.
"Sounds great." Lindsey says.
The 6 of us go and sit at the patio table and start eating and talking.
"So Scarlett...How's our daughter treating you?" I ask.
"Mama" Isabella groans causing the adults to laugh.
"Bella treats me like a princess Mama C." Scarlett says.
"Good...We raised her well then." I say.
"And Bella how has our daughter been treating you?" Tobin asks.
"Like a princess Mama T." Isabella says.
"Good." Christen says.
"Hey Mama C?" Scarlett says.
"Yes Scarlett."
"Okay well I was going to ask you something, but now I have two questions."
"That's fine."
"Um my parents explained what happened, but...are you okay?"
"Yes sweetie I'm okay. I didn't mean to scare you."
"Good...And why do you always call me and Bella by our first names instead of our nicknames?"
"Well because like Lindsey and I did with Isabella, your parents gave you your first name for a reason. And to give you that specific name the reason must be very special and important to them so I call you Scarlett because your Mom's spent a lot of time thinking of your name." I say.
"Well alrighty then."
Throughout the rest of dinner I'm very quiet and only speak when I have to which catches the adults attention.
"Girls could we have some adult time?" Tobin asks after we've finished eating.
"Sure Mama." Scarlett says.
"Sure Mama T." Isabella says.
Scarlett and Isabella grab the trash then head inside the house.
"Everything all right?" Lindsey asks.
"I don't know if we did the right thing." I admit.
"What did you three talk about?" Christen asks.
"The only thing we heard was you say let's eat." Tobin says.
"Well the conversation started out with us explaining Cairo's condition then turned into the 'we won't be here forever' conversation."
"Damn." Christen says.
"Yeah...I just hope we did the right thing." I say
"YOU DID." I hear Isabella yell.
"Dang it Bella." Scarlett says. "Now they know we were listening."
"WE CAN STILL HEAR YOU." The four adults yell.
"SORRY." The young couple shouts.
"I love those girls." I say.

Savage Hunters
Giant monsters roam the land Civilization is frozen in a savage age. For the beast slayer Alden, power and survival are one and the same. The ancient evil that once ravaged his village and murdered his ancestors has returned. At the same time, politics hurls Alden and his crew into gladiator pit battles for control of the throne. When Alden takes possession of a cursed sword promising untold power, the hunter is determined to save his people by slaying every giant monster standing between him and the throne. But the angry ghost trapped inside the blade has other ideas. Buckle up for the brutal LitRPG ride of a lifetime Savage Hunters is an alternate-world neolothic fantasy. Characters grow their powers with explicit stat blocks presented right in the text, including levels, attribute scores, and unlockable skill trees. Experience is accumulated by battling enormous monsters the size of buildings. Political intrigue and romance elements ramp up as the series progresses. I originally wrote this story after playing Monster Hunter with my niece. She was 12 at the time, already an avid reader, and wanted to read my other published books. I'm a licensed psychotherapist specializing in severe trauma so I tend toward darker fiction. I told her my usual books are too brutal for her but I'd write her something special. The result was this series, which has been praised by both teens and adults for its depth and universal appeal. It begins with an emphasis on cultural elements because I consulted with a trained anthropologist to craft this neolithic setting down to exacting social detail. After these opening chapters, it rapidly shifts to an action-packed adventure. The first 3 books are fully written as of November 2020, totalling approximately 69 chapters. The first book has been professionally edited already. The following two books require some editing which I'll do on a chapter-by-chapter basis as releases progress. I welcome reviews and comments. Writing is a passion, and reader engagement makes my labor all the sweeter.
