《Bruce's Best Friend - Discontinued》Chapter 10

Bruce could make up a million reasons as to why he didn't want to introduce Percy to the Justice League just yet, but he would never out loud admit the real one; he wanted to see their reactions. Yes, the famous Dark Knight wanted to pull a prank. While Bruce was raising him, Dick would play hilarious tricks on the League and his Young Justice team that involved lying, deceit and sneaking around. Bruce was always secretly proud of his pranks, and now, it was his turn. Who would ever believe he, The Batman, had a girlfriend?

And so, he put off introducing her to them for a month, waiting for the perfect opportunity. Everytime Flash or Green Arrow asked if he had any information on the girl that saved them, all he ever said was, "I'm working on it," or "I'm close," and then proceeded to subtly change the topic.

Finally, when he felt it was the right time, he told Percy to suit up, because he was going to give her a tour of the Watchtower.

Percy was grinning in excitement as she bounded into the cave. She quickly changed into her costume and came up behind Bruce, who was putting on his own suit. He turned around to greet her by kissing her deeply, his hands settling at her waist.

"Ready to meet the League?" he asked, smirking.

"Come on, let's go!" she exclaimed and pecked him again on the lips. She then proceeded to step onto the zeta beam field.

Bruce set the coordinated for the Watchtower and then joined her.

"Oh-wait!"

Bruce looked at Percy, confused. Percy just shook her head and pulled Bruce's cowl over his head, which he had forgotten in the moment of kissing her.

"There, perfect," Percy said just in time as the zeta beam took them to the JL Headquarters.

When they arrived, Batman and Seabird stepped out, calm and collected. As they strode down the hall, heroes turned around, their faces confused and their eyebrows furrowed at the sight of an unknown super walking alongside Batman.

They walked until they reached the center most part of the orbiting ship, where the original 7 and Green Arrow met to discuss plans and missions. (AN I'm going to include GA because I'd hate to leave him out, Black Canary will be with the Young Justice team)

As entered the area, the heroes turned to greet Batman but started to stare disbelievingly at the guest he had brought.

"W-What is this?" Superman got out, still staring at the girl beside Batman. He then shifted his gaze over to his team member. "What is she doing here?"

"You told me to find her," Bruce deadpanned. Percy did her best to hold in a smile.

"You brought her to the Watchtower?" Wonder Woman said incredulously.

"Her name is Seabird and she is a hero," Batman added. Percy gave them all a little wave.

"This is serious, Batman," Green Lantern said, "Who would you bring her, unrestrained, to our headquarters?"

"Yeah, what happens if she goes all psycho and tries to kill us all?" Green Arrow put in helpfully.

"She's a hero," Batman said again.

"Batman. We had a lengthy discussion before we even let our proteges in here," Martian Manhunter said wisely.

"She's also a Bat."

"Huh?" was Flash's intelligent response.

"You know...Member of the Batfamily, a coworker of Batman, Batman's ally..." Seabird trailed off.

The others blinked, stunned at the revelation.

"What? You're a...Bat?" Superman looked extremely confused. "But-?"

"You already know her?" Diana narrowed her eyes. "You lied to us!"

Percy stepped up to save Bruce from the Amazon's wrath as she had experienced it first hand before. (AN. Not by Diana)

"Actually, that was my fault. I wasn't ready to meet you guys, so Bats covered for me."

Percy felt something probing at her mind and she brought her mental walls down quickly. She stared at J'onn with a look that said, Really? You had to do that? Then she let her walls down, just a tiny bit, to let him speak to her.

How did you do that? Your walls are even stronger than Batman's.

I've been keeping people out of my head since I was a kid. Also, I would really appreciate it if you didn't do that again.

My apologies. I just wanted to make sure your intentions were genuine.

Don't worry, I wouldn't harm any of you.

J'onn couldn't access any of her memories or read her thoughts, but he could sense that she was telling the truth.

I believe you, he said before withdrawing from her mind.

The remaining leaguers were arguing with Batman about trusting her. However, Aquaman was silent. He was staring at Percy because he couldn't shake the feeling of familiarity. He felt as if he knew her and something was drawing him to her. It was similar to the feeling a subject gets in a king's presence. J'onn looked at him worriedly.

Are you okay, Orin?

Yes, I am fine. Something about this Seabird just seems extremely familiar to me.

That is odd. Perhaps later you can ask her about it.

Perhaps I will.

"How do we know we can trust her?" Wonder Woman said, waving her hands in frustration.

"Because I've known her since I was 9 years old," Bruce replied, finally sharing some insightful information.

The Justice League blinked, taken aback.

"Does that mean she knows you secret identity, Bats?" Flash asked, wide-eyed.

"Of course."

The Justice League was now gaping. He refused to tell them his secret identity and now here was this random girl who he decided to tell.

"B-But that's no fair!" Flash whined, "Why don't we get to know it?"

"He'll tell you when the time is right," Seabird replied.

Superman finally took charge of the situation. "Fine we can trust her, but what is it you want us to do with her?"

"I've already installed her information into the JL Database so she's in the system and can zeta-beam whenever she wants. I know she's not a member of the Justice League but she's extremely skilled and can be a powerful ally if you chose to let her help," Batman explained.

Percy blushed slightly and rubbed the back of her neck.

Wonder Woman narrowed her eyes before relaxing. "Oh, why not? I say she's in. We need more girls anyways," she relented.

"Her intentions are pure," J'onn announced, "My vote is yes."

"Mine is yes as well," Aquaman said, needing to know more about her.

"She seems pretty cool. I say yes," Flash commented.

Green Lantern sighed. "Alright, I vote yes."

Green Arrow folded his arms. "Fine, I say yes, but your gonna have to earn my trust."

Superman hesitated for a second before giving in. "Yes."

Flash vibrated and zipped to her side, slinging an arm around her. "Welcome to the team."

Percy grinned, mostly at Bruce, who offered a small undetected smile back.

After that, they sent Percy on small, undercover missions. She knew she still had to earn their trust, despite having a close connection with Batman. It was about 2 weeks later when the League heard the news of the Joker and Lex Luthor teaming up. Working together, they had created an army of robots that could spray non-lethal doses of Joker Venom.

When the army attacked Metropolis, the original 7 plus Percy and Green Arrow were sent to defeat them. However, Batman volunteered to go after the Joker, who was watching the army from a remote location. Percy wanted to go with Bruce, but he insisted that saving the people of the city was more important. Finally, she relented and joined the other heroes.

They zeta-beamed to Metropolis, just as the robots attacked. Superman used his heat vision to melt them and his super strength to send them flying into each other. Wonder Woman used her lasso and super strength to trip them and crush them against each other. Flash zipped around, pulling people out of harms way and being a distraction. Green Arrow sent explosive arrows at the robots to disable them. Green Lantern flew above and used his ring to create objects to smash them. Martian Manhunter shapeshifted into a dragon and chomped on the robots. Aquaman stabbed them with his trident.

Percy did what she did best. She pulled out Riptide and lunged at the robots. She hacked and slashed them to pieces and when she was finished with one, she flipped or jumped onto another, using the water molecules in the air to give her a boost. Then, she discreetly made it rain buckets of water to give herself and Aquaman more strength. The rain also helped dissipate the joke venom so less civilians would be affected. At one point, the other Leaguers stopped what they were doing momentarily to gape at Seabird.

"Batman wasn't kidding when he said Seabird was skilled," Flash muttered to himself, and somewhere, Superman nodded in agreement.

She was literally a hurricane on the battlefield. Even without any powers, the robots never even stood a chance against her sword and quick reflexes.

Finally, when all the robots were reduced to scrap, the heroes came together. The city cheered for their saviors. A reporter came up to them bravely, but Percy disappeared.

"Thank you, Justice League for, once again, saving us. But who was that new superhero?"

Superman looked around for Seabird, but couldn't find her, so he figured she liked to stay in the shadows.

"That was just one of the Leaguers, trying out a new costume. Turns out, they doesn't like it too much, so you probably won't be seeing them again," Wonder Woman covered, catching on.

The reporter looked highly disappointed as the Leaguers flew up to the watchtower, Green Lantern carrying, Flash, GA, and Aquaman on a green platform. When the got into the Watchtower, Superman turned to Percy, who was waiting for them.

"How did you do that?" he exclaimed.

Percy looked confused. "Do what?"

Flash zipped around, acting out battle scenes. "You know, the stabbing and the slashing and the annihilating of the robots. That was awesome!"

Percy rubbed the back of her neck sheepishly and shrugged. "I started my training early?"

Diana shook her head in amazement. "You would make a fine Amazon."

Percy looked horrified for a second, remembering when she was offered that long ago and was almost killed for refusing. "I am completely fine, totally okay without being an Amazon."

Diana looked at her weirdly but shrugged it off.

"Either way, " said Green Lantern, "You did good."

Percy smiled at them. "Thanks!"

Then her smile melted. "Where's Batman?"

Superman furrowed his brow. "Only he knew where the Joker would be hiding out and he should be here by now."

Percy almost freaked out, before remembering that Bruce told her to always keep a calm head. She tapped her comm to connect to his and spoke.

"Batman? Bats are you there?"

The comm crackled and Percy's heart stopped for a second until he came on.

"Seabird," he sounded tired and everyone could hear, "I'm-"

The suddenly, Joker's voice replaced his with a bone-chilling laugh. "Hello, Batsy's friends! Anyone want to say any last words to him? No? That's a shame. What about...goodbye?" The comm died after hearing one last cackle.

The rest of the League looked horrified.

"Oh my god," Diana whispered.

Percy couldn't breathe. The world was spinning and she couldn't hear what everyone else was saying. She fell onto her knees, her hands flat again the cold tiles. Down on earth, the oceans churned and raged. She shut her eyes tightly. He couldn't be gone. He wasn't. Percy felt the waves about to crash down onto beaches of people and quickly dropped her hold on them. She wouldn't hurt anyone. As much as she wanted to, so she could punish Hades, it was against Bruce's code to kill anyone, so it was also against hers.

Percy stood up, fists clenched, ready to take down the Joker when the zeta-beamed announced the arrival of someone. Bruce stepped through, his suit in tatters, cuts all over his body. He limped over and Percy distantly heard the League sigh and collapse in relief.

Percy just stared blankly as she walked up to him. They were only a couple feet apart when Percy's face turned angry. She slammed her fist into his stomach and he doubled over. Everyone behind her gasped. He righted himself, wincing.

"I deserved that."

"Damn right you did," Percy muttered before pulling him into a kiss to which Bruce responded immediately.

The entire League had the same slack expression in addition to bulging eyes and dropped jaws.

Flash was the worst. "B-But..huh?...W-w-what?!" he exclaimed, not fully comprehending what he was seeing.

J'onn was the first to recover and smiled. "Well, it seems to me that Batman has a lover."

"BATMAN's got a GIRLFRIEND?!" Flash half whispered half screamed.

Superman, Green Lantern, and Green Arrow definitely did not see that coming. Wonder Woman was shocked but soon was happy for both of her teammates. Aquaman was shocked as well, but his mind was still on who Seabird was. Flash was, in short, hyperventilating. He was vibrating randomly and going through so many emotions at once, the main one being, What in the fucking hell just happened?

Bruce and Percy broke apart and she smiled blissfully at him for a second before the scowl took its place.

"You're still not off the hook yet."

"Understandable," Bruce muttered.

Percy wrapped an arm around to steady him and turned to face the League.

"What?" she asked innocently. Bruce just stared.

J'onn glided up to them. "I'm glad you're not dead. And congratulations. You deserve to be happy."

Batman nodded at J'onn in thanks.

Flash zipped up to Percy and pointed a finger in her face.

"YOU'RE, " he then pointed it at Bruce, "dating HIM?!"

"...Yes?" Percy said hesitantly because Flash looked like he was about to pass out.

He groaned and held his head. "I definitely need to go lie down. This is weird."

Percy laughed at him and Bruce smirked. If anything, at least his prank was a success.

The rest of the Leaguers were shaking their heads in shock, amusement, and disbelief.

Suddenly, Aquaman spoke up.

"But why do you seem so familiar to me? Do I know you?"

Percy and Bruce looked at each other and he nodded. The time was right.

Bruce pulled the cowl off his face. Superman gasped.

"Bruce Wayne?" his jaw dropping again.

"Yes," he said, "I'm Bruce Wayne."

"You know," said John also surprised, "It kind of makes sense now. The money and the playboy act. Plus you fund the tower so..."

Green Arrow gasped. "It was you, at that party!" to which Bruce nodded.

A couple weeks ago, Bruce and Percy attended a formal party with many rich business owners. Oliver Queen had also attended and they had met. Oliver thought all the random subtle Green Arrow and Batman references were just a coincidence, but now he gaped at Bruce for having an inner troll. Then he thought of something.

"But that means you're-"

Percy pulled the mask off her face. "Persephone Jackson, but you can call me Percy."

Some of the guys openly stared at Percy before catching themselves, scared of Batman's wrath. Aquaman gasped loudly. He recognized those eyes and that name.

He knelt before her. He may be the King of Atlantis, but this was the princess of all the oceans.

"My Lady," he spoke in Atlantean.

Percy frowned and replied in the same tongue, "Rise King Orin. You do not need to bow to me. We are equals."

Aquaman rose but continued to look at her in awe.

Everyone else, except Batman, looked highly confused.

"Are you Atlantean?" Superman asked.

"Nope," Percy replied, which just baffled everyone even more.

Now it was Diana's turn to gasp. She had recognized Percy from the stories she heard growing up.

"You're her, Persephone Jackson, the daughter of Poseidon! You fought Kronos and Gaea in the Second Titan and Giant wars!" she exclaimed in Greek.

"Yep, that's me..." Percy said back in Greek, blushing.

"Are you an Amazon?" Superman asked.

"Nope," Percy replied.

"THEN WHO ARE YOU?" Flash exclaimed in frustration. Now everyone, except Aquaman, Diana, and Batman looked confused and had a WTF expression on their face.

Percy sighed. "You know about the Greek Gods right?"

Everyone nodded, having fought Ares before and having heard a couple stories from Diana.

"Well, I'm a demigod daughter of Poseidon."

Everyone was gaping, again.

"You're half-god?" Green Lantern asked, incredulously.

"Yeah..." Percy trailed off, "I mean so is Diana!"

Batman leaned towards her ear, "You might need to explain it to them."

Percy snickered. "Well, the gods go around, having affairs with mortals and I was the result of one of those affairs."

"She's the daughter of one of the most powerful gods in the world, who also happens to be my King," Aquaman stressed.

"'Result of one of those affairs?' Please, she was born to lead armies into war. And she did, twice," Diana added.

"She's been training since she was 6 years old and is the greatest swordsman in the world," Bruce put in, while Percy glared at him.

Cue more gaping.

Surprisingly, Flash was the first to sober up.

"That is so cool!" he fangirled, while Percy blushed and buried her face into Batman's shoulder, "Can we make her a full-time member of the League?"

Percy hesitated for the second before Batman spoke up.

"I was thinking we keep her as a secret weapon."

AN. Please comment! Also, thank you for the suggestion about Bruce going on a mission and all.
