《Crazier Then You (Twilight // Crazy Jane)》Chpater 26

Jane pats down her dress for the millionth time uncomfortable in the garment. She hated dresses if she could have one thing never invented it would be dresses. She hates the skin it showed she hated the attention it brought to her from unwanted men. There was only one guy in the entire world she wanted to look good for and it was Paul.
It was Paul's graduation night and a Emily told Jane she had to dress nice since it was a joyous occasion. Plus apparently La Push was more of a stickler for rules on dressing nice for the graduation unlike Forks where the guests could wear anything. Of course all the Forks towns people dressed over the top to impress the other soccer moms in town.
Jane hated it but she'd suffer through it for Paul.
Jane walks into the school hallways and immediately has eyes on her as the La Push students had never actually seen the girl. Some of them had heard about her from their pale face friends. She was the definition of crazy supposedly only making their whispers grow as she walked past.
They also believed she was the newest member of the cult they believed the boys and Leah to be in. That just made Jane smile sadistically at them until they looked away making her laugh to herself.
Janes eyes search for one person and eagerly found him joking with Jared and Kim who were also wearing gowns. He kept playing with his tassel and making jokes on how he didn't think he'd make it there.
Of course Jared teased him back on it but he soon caught sight of Jane and pointed her out to Paul who turned in a hurry to see her. Jane held an awkward hand up in a wave as he stared at her funny. She couldn't help but wonder if she too looked like a love sick fool as she looked at him in his graduation attire.
The two slowly approached one another as girls began glaring at Jane realizing this was Paul's girlfriend.
"Looks like I'm about to get mauled or something for talking to you." Jane says with a smirk looking around at all the female students glaring at her.
"Their just jealous..... you look amazing." Paul says it half breathless making Jane smile and look away with a blush. "You look handsome. I hate dresses though this thing is making me want to gouge my eyes out every time I see my reflection." Jane says lowly as some group of guys walk past her staring her down.
Of course that had Paul glaring at them and a low growl coming out that made the boys scurry away in a panic. "Don't you think growling at kids makes you weird?" Jane jokes making him ease back and smirk at her.
"Just letting them know not to mess with my girl." He says pulling her in for a subtle kiss knowing she wasn't the biggest fan of PDA.
Of course the rest of the pack had to come over at that exact second and begin to mock Paul. "Letting them know..... what's mine." Quil says over dramatically while brushing fake hair away from Embry's face. All of the pack laughed as Paul wore a scowl at them which Jane just hugged him and it made his body get less tense.
"Maybe we should go find our seat before someone makes someone else miss his graduation." Sam said lowly eyes glaring daggers into Quil who was quick to rush to his seat with the guys. Leah was there too. It she looked miserable as her arms were crossed and she continued to glare at Sam and Emily.

"I'll see you after the ceremony Paul." Jane says softly kissing his cheek before walking alongside Leah to their seats. Leah didn't speak to her much but Jane found her presence when being surrounded by male testosterone a light in the ocean type of thing. Leah, Kim, and Emily kept her sane when there were times she wanted to freak out on the shirtless boys.
Jane takes her seat in between Jacob and Leah and looks around anxiously as people still whisper. Hammerhead itched so badly to come out and fight them but Jane grounded her teeth together and begged the invisible force of Kay to keep the other personalities at bay.
She didn't want to miss this moment.
The ceremony was tedious and boring like the forks one making Janes eyes fight to stay awake until the names were being called. She cheered for everyone she knew which was only Kim and Jared the rest of the students got nothing but unimpressed looks.
When it came Paul's turn Jane couldn't fight the proud happy smile she wore. His eyes looked to her as he grabbed his diploma and Jane began clapping crazily and cheering for him.
She could hear a man clapping loudly in the crowd and yelling and whooping like the boys next to her. It made Jane furrow her eyebrows and look at the man before back to Paul who smiled closer to a grimace at the man.
He was quick to get off the stage and go to his seat like he supposed to do when Jane felt someone staring at her. She felt like she knew exactly who and took a quick glance to see the man staring at her stoically.
Jane just quickly looked away from the man getting a bad vibe at the way he stared at her. It had to be closer to loathing then curiosity.
When the ceremony finally ended Jane and the pack went to the hall to congratulate Paul once he exited the auditorium. The man who Jane believed to be Paul's father walked out and looked around before spotting their group. Jane could easily feel how tense all the boys and Leah got as the man began to approach them.
His smile looked forced and his eyes held something that made Hammerhead slowly inch her way towards the surface ready to defend the body if she needed to.
The man walks up to Sam first smiling and shaking hand and then Emily's. His conversation was short with them, he had small talk with everyone working his way down the group almost like he was in a hurry.
He stops at Jane and peers at her with expectation as she just looked around her unsure why he was staring at her like that. "I'm Mr Lahote. Paul's dad." He says sticking his hand out which Jane did not want to touch or shake but she didn't want to cause a scene at Paul's graduation.
Jane shook his hand rather weakly with a fake smile remembering all the bad things Paul had told her of the man. She could practically smell the alcohol coming off him already. "Jane Swan." She introduces herself using Charlie's last name making the man's smile twitch.
"I didn't know Charlie had another daughter. You don't hang out with those Cullen freaks do you?" He asks with a hint of anger there that she noticed made the gush give her looks. "No, I hate those pale, lifeless weirdos, and ima cruelly his niece" Jane says it casually making Paul's dad laugh and point at the girl.

"Oh she's a riot no wonder Paul likes ya. He never brings you a round though why is that?" He asks with an edge to his voice that makes Jane tense but shrug. "He's usually busy with work I hardly see him much. Plus I was helping Charlie take care of Bella when she was all.... Ya know crazy." Jane says with a crazy motion to her head about Bella making the man snort.
"Well maybe we can all go to celebrate together my treat." He laughs as Jane forces a smile she couldn't describe the relief she felt when she saw Paul beelining for them.
It also Paine her to see the expression of being mortified on his face as he saw who was talking to her.
"Speaking of the guy here he comes." Jane says in a rush not wanting to give the man a straight answer as he too looks and goes and gives Paul a hug.
It looked awkward and unnatural like it hadn't in a years and it made Jane hold herself anxious on how things were about to go down.
"I met Jane here she's a real kicker son." Paul's dad said slapping him lightly on the back while praising Jane. Paul looked surprised but he only did a small smile and muttered a simple. "I know she's great." He too didn't want to cause a scene at graduation or in front of Jane.
"How about we all go out to dinner at that restaurant in Port Angeles." Sam says loudly making everyone agree and wish Paul's dad would says a no go ahead but of course they were unlucky as he agreed to go.
Paul was quick to move from his fathers side to Janes and put a protective arm around her. He would protect her from anyone and everyone including his own father.
As Paul and Jane climbed into his truck he sighed with frustration leaving his forehead on the steering wheel.
"Are you okay Paul?" Jane asks lowly making him Lena back and sigh again. "I'm sorry you have to meet him. I didn't think he'd even show today I told him months ago the date hoping he'd forget." Paul says with frustration looking out at the woods across from the parking lot.
"Hey- it's just one dinner right? And after that we can go to my house and see my dad. He's excited to congratulate you too. We can even get your favorite ice cream..... and mine cuz I'm craving some chocolate right now." Jane rambles as he stares at her funny.
"You know I love you right?" He says with a small great full smile making Jane smirk. "How couldn't you love me I'm great." Jane teases making him shake his head calming down like she intended.
"I love you too Paul. And nothing he says or does tonight is going to make me love you any less. It'll definitely make me hate him more but I hate all men so-...." Jane shrugs as he nods and begins to drive them to the restaurant.
As the couple walk in their the last ones to arrive since they had taken awhile talking about Paul's father. Of course the man himself began laughing and pointing at the boy. "My son would be the one to have a quickie before dinner." He laughs drunkenly as Janes eyes widen but she simply rubs Paul's back that had went rigid.
The boy wore a scowl as he sat next to Jane who was sat next to Sam. She definitely felt protected between the two men for once instead of intimidated.
Paul's father sat across from Paul and she could constantly se spur of the corner of her eyes he was staring at her funny. Paul seemed to notice too and pull her closer to him to ease both her and himself.
Jane really hated this dress now.
As she stared at a menu and lowly discussed with Paul what to get she smiled as she already knew she'd be getting the regular chicken tenders like she got from the diner in Forks.
"What about you? What are you getting?" She asks peering over his shoulder as Paul points at a burger with three different cheeses on it.
"I'm gonna steal a bite." Jane informs him making him smile finally for the first time since they got there. "So ima plowed to steal a tender right?" He asks already knowing the answer as she snorts. "Yeah right you eat like a bulldozer I have a nibble of your stuff you inhale mine." Jane whispers as he smiles even bigger. "That was one time." He says knowing full well it was many times.
He constantly finished her food for her and once they watched a movie in Janes room one night and he had absent mindedly ate all her popcorn as she watch in a trance. When she went for some the whole bowl was empty making her gasp and look at him offended.
"So- Jane. How did you and Paul meet?" Paul's dad asked making his son smile twitch. Yes it was a happy memory for him but eh didn't want his father to say some rude comment about it and ruin it.
"Oh uh- we met when Bella got lost in the woods. I found her but got lost myself and luckily Sam, Jared and of course Paul found us and got us home." Jane says with an awkward smile knowing she had cussed Paul out that night and actually tried to hurt him. Well.... Hammerhead did.
"That's nice. I'm just gonna cut to the cause here I hear you got voices in your head or something so are you like schizophrenic or something?" He asks rather bluntly making Paul's body begin to tremor when Jane rubbed his arm under the table.
"No- I just have multiple personality disorder. So basically other people- living inside my head." Jane trails off knowing how it sounds and Paul's father seems to pick up on it too. "Soooo your crazy?" He says making Paul bite his tongue to fight saying something to cause a scene but he did not want his father disrespecting her like that either.
Jane just shrugs and forces a smile at the man she really was trying to keep the peace but every comment he said made her want to cuss him out. It made Hammerhead want to deck him, Katy burn him, and Lucy electrocute him. "Arnt we all." Jane says while sipping her water making Paul's dad laugh and agree but Jane could still see in his eyes he was disgruntled by her illness.
The pack was continuously having awkward small talk as Paul's father kept trying to simply talk to Jane or Paul. The pack kept looking at them weary and guilty of the man ruining their time. But Paul was simply counting down the seconds until they could leave and get far away from the man.
Luckily when the food arrived conversation seemed to die out as people ate. Paul gave Jane a bite of his massive burger making her hardly do a dent as he chuckled at her.
"You can have one of my tenders." Jane says letting him grab one and eat it. He kisses her forehead as a thank you making her wipe the spot he got sauce off. She gave him a fake disgusted look as he smiled teasingly at her.
The entire time Jane could feel his father glaring at them. Jane thought he liked her from what they had spoken about but one look at him and she could tell he was getting fed up by something.
Was it Paul being happy?
When everyone was done eating Paul finally felt like he could relax as they began to stand to leave. He helped Jane stand up and lead her to the parking lot where everyone said their goodbyes. Emily whispered to Paul how she was sorry his father had tagged along but they could celebrate tomorrow night alone. Paul was great ful and thanked her but tried to decline but Emily wasn't going to let that happen.
Jane then said her goodbyes to the pack as well she didn't hug them for obvious reasons just a wave and smile.
That left Paul's dad who stood a little sloppy on his feet, he was clearly more drunk now and he was still going to drive home. Paul wasn't going ti try and stop him because he knew it was pointless.
"Maybe we should do desert- or just grab some beers." Paul's dad said with a big smile making Jane fight to not let her smile and fake facades fall. "Actually I'm going to take Jane home. She's gotta help Charlie with some stuff before bed."
After Paul says that his fathers eyes look to Jane as he looks to realize something and winks at his son. "Of course. Wear protection though I ain't ready to be a grandpa yet." He laughs and he gives his son another stiff hug before turning to Jane and giving her one as well.
Jane bit her lip and fought like hell as her body began to slowly heat up, Katy fighting her way through the invisible force to protect the body. Paul's father let go just in the nic of time making her release the breathe she had been holding.
Paul looked livid and stepped in between his father and Jane making father glare at him again. "Is there a problem here son?" He asks with an edge like he was purposefully wanting to pick a fight.
"Jane doesn't like being touched." Paul's says it firmly making his father scoff and look at him like he's crazy. "She touches you so must not hate it that much. Besides I'm allowed to hug who ever I want I'm a full grown man boy so don't go picking a fight you can't finish." His father spat before walking to his truck with stomping feet.
He drove out of the parking lot recklessly and Jane finally felt her body relax that had been a statue the entire dinner.
"I'm sorry," Paul says with sigh close to tears he really was ashamed of his father. Jane pulls him into a hug rubbing his back and telling him it was okay. He kept trying to tell her it wasn't but she would simply shush him. They stood like that for a few minutes until he was calmer and then they drove to the nearest gas station grabbing two pints of ice cream.
Jane a house was still lit up and Charlie was still awake drinking a beer and watching some sports game on tv.
"How was graduation?" Charlie asks standing and giving Paul the usual form handshake. "Good sir it was definitely a night to remember." Paul says with a smile making a Charlie give him a pat on the back for approval.
"Well it's late so I'm off to bed but don't try nothing funny. I got eyes in the back of my head and ears that could hear a pin drop." Charlie says with a serious look even though both knew this to be false. Paul spent the night with Jane all the time since the vampire had broken into her home. Edweirdo had been doing it for nearly 2 years now as well.
"Don't worry sir that's not gonna happen." Paul says with confidence making Charlie nod. He was glad the boy wasn't pressuring Jane, Paul had quite the rumors about him but he really seemed to shape up for Jane.
I'm Charlie's eyes Jane deserved the best and Paul seemed like a good option for that.
The couple put on a horror movie and curled up next to each other eating ice cream as they watched the movie. Paul was finally happy and doing something he wanted all day and that was to have fun and celebrate his special day.
Once the two were done with their ice creams they sat on the couch even closer with hands now free. Paul held Jane close to him as she laid on top of him with her hands flat on his chest. His hands stayed glued to her waist and stayed there not wanting to push her into changing personalities.
Jane sighed with contempt as she curled into his neck more making him smile against the top of her head.
"I love you Paul." Jane says lowly making him smile. "I love you too Jane- I'm still sorry about my dad." Paul begins to say making her shake her head. "It's fine Paul. Trust me it's better I meet your dad then you meet mine right?" Jane said deathly serious and it seemed to work as Paul tensed.

8 166Living With Magic
Arthur, a young magician, is struggling with crippling social anxiety. The issue has reached a point where he likely won't graduate from University. Reaching a crossroads, he must decide whether to try and return to a family he despises or make his own path in the world. Is the magical power he has actually beneficial in the real world? Authors Note: I'm terrible at writing a synopsis, but over time I hope to write a better one. One of my favorite series of books is the Magicians by Lev Grossman and I hope to follow that same line of thinking within my story. How would a society built around magic actually exist and is power and magic actually as great as other stories make it out to be? The story and characters will be completely original and I will try to update the story on a regular basis. Also, any feedback would be greatly appreciated.
