《The Rest of Eternity (EreMika)》Chapter 9

Eren began walking to his room, when he was very abruptly slammed against the wall. He winces slightly, before looking behind him. It was Levi
"What the.. hell?" Eren managed to squeak out.
"Look here, Yeager. You leaving without any word, was inexcusable. I should've kicked your ass into the dirt in that damn cave, but I didn't. I don't know why" He said, glaring at Eren
"I know, its just, I thought I needed to get out, and I guess I did." Eren replied, keeping his voice down, as he didn't want to wake Mikasa
"I don't want any excuses Yeager" He spat, as he let go of Eren. "Now go back to your room," With that, he slipped off into the dark.
Once he was gone, he heard the sound of a door creaking open.
"Eren?" He heard the soft voice of mikasa, "Are you alright?"
"Yeah, i'm fine," he said, moving his shoulder to pop it. "The short one wasn't happy with me" He chuckles, smiling.
"I can tell, that was a pretty loud thud, i assume from your big head hitting the wall?" She laughed.
"Hey, it's not that big" He laughed along with her.
"Anyway Eren, have a good night" She yawned, waving to him.
"Night Mikasa" He smiled back, "Sweet dreams"
She smiled, and shut the door, to go back to sleep. Eren walked to his room, to get some much needed sleep.
the next morning
Right when the sun started to peak over the horizon, Eren woke up. He stood up, and stretched, popping all of his joints, before getting dressed and grabbing a small snack, and walking out of his room, and searching for a high spot to sit on, to watch the sun rise. He decided on a cliff that he began walking up to, climbing the hill and walking over to the cliff edge, dangling his legs over the edge, eating the snack he grabbed.

"This is nice" he muttered to himself, "Peace and quiet... just what I need to think"
He sat up there for some time, just watching the sun rise up over the walls, when he was joined by someone else.
"You're up rather early" the familiar voice of the black haired girl rang through his ears.
He just shrugs, "I've been waking up this early since I left, and every time I watch the sun rise... it's beautiful."
"Yeah.." Mikasa just replied, staring out at the sun.
"Come on, sit" Eren motioned next to him.
Mikasa didn't hesitate, she sat next to him, and crossed her legs, instead of dangling them off the edge.
"You know Eren, you dangling your legs off the edge seems dangerous" She said, slight hesitation in her voice.
"I assure you Mikasa, I'll be fine" He replied, looking over to her.
"Eren.." She began, before Eren cut her off.
"If it worries you this much, I'll bring my legs up," He said, shifting back, and bringing one of his knees up, while laying the other leg flat on the ground, and resting his wrist on the knee.
"That better?"
"Yes" Mikasa nodded. "Eren really has changed hasn't he" She thought to herself. "He didn't try to argue, or get mad.." She lost herself in deep thought.
Eren began speaking, "You know... I really can't say this enough.." He sighed, "I'm sorry for how I treated you all those years ago. I was dead set on my goal of killing the titans, that I didn't know how to react to anything. I'd keep all my anger and resentment bottled up, until one thing just made me lose it all, and most of those things, was you just trying to help me"

Mikasa was still zoned out, so she didn't hear what he said. Eren, not noticing, continued.
"I guess I just want to say, thank you," He said, brushing some of his hair aside. "Thank you for sticking with me, even though I never did anything to deserve it, thank you, for no matter how much I pushed you away, for staying with me. Those two years away, made me realize, how much I actually needed you." He said, smiling.
Mikasa tuned in for the last few sentences, and when she heard what he said, she began to blush a little, subconsciously moving slightly closer to Eren.
then it hit her, Eren Yeager just thanked Mikasa. That's something on its own, but to thank her for something that he used to hate her doing?
"Did you just say thank you?" She asked him, "Did you, Eren Yeager, just day 'thank you' to me?"
He smirked, "Oh i'm about to take it back"
"Nah nah, you can't do that she said, smiling.
Something came to Eren, as he was looking at Mikasa. The sun hitting her pale skin, made it seem like her skin was glowing. Her smile made him feel warm, and pure. He never realized how beautiful his childhood friend looked. He immediately shook the thought out of his head.
"Don't be silly Eren" He thought to himself, "You're just friends, nothing more. You can't afford to be nothing more, can you?" He questioned, before shaking that thought out too.
"Stop thinking like this Eren, you're just friends.. but you could me more" He mentally slapped himself, before returning.
"Hey Mikasa..?"
"Hm?"
"You look.. really pretty.."
