《》9. Christmas Sweaters

I was shocked when I came down and Victoria was moving across the kitchen.

"Good morning?" I asked.

"Early bird." She smiled at me.

"Ahh. Is that coffee?" I asked.

"Yeah." She nodded.

"Milk?" I smiled and she hummed, moving to get me a cup.

"When do you usually leave?" She asked.

"I have to be there in 20." I checked my watch.

"Oh- I can get you a to-go-"

"Relax. I can be late." I smiled.

She immediately slowed, handing me the coffee in a nice mug.

"I appreciate it." I watched her clean up the counters.

"Is this how you usually are?" I asked.

"Pretty much." She nodded, and I smiled, drinking my coffee as she moved along the kitchen, fixing up even the smallest things.

"Would you wanna come with me when I have to go to the club later?" I asked.

"Sure." She nodded.

"We might meet a few people." I was able to relax when she did as well, sitting on the counter that was on the other side of the island.

"That's fine." She crossed her ankles.

"Alright." I nodded.

"You don't have to be late. I heard you're very punctual." She squinted.

"A lot of people hear a lot of things." I laughed.

She was right though. I was never late.

"So, how long is the signing?" She asked.

"Uhm, I've already gone over terms and shit. Literally 10 minutes and no offense but he's annoying so I'm hoping I can get out of it in 30." I sat back.

"None taken. I know how he is. He talks a lot when he's nervous." She nodded.

"Explains a lot. He needs a muzzle." I sipped my coffee.

She just laughed.

"I'm sorry, I don't mean to speak bad of him-"

"It's fine. Neither of my parents really deserve respect. Their first love is money, then my dads business, then diamonds, then maybe me." She shrugged.

I frowned.

"They missed so much."

"Hm?" She tilted her head.

"You're so interesting. I can't imagine someone not wanting to know you. My entire family can't wait till Thanksgiving and Christmas. They're so excited to actually talk to you. My dad and mom love you, I just-I don't get it." I looked at her, she was incredible.

I didn't understand.

"Some people just don't care about the substance of a person, someone can be hollow but as long as they make those other people look good, those people will always keep the hollow one around and tie them in pretty bows with white dresses and stupid ruffled socks with the annoying glitter heels and shove them in fake family photo shoots like they really matter." She looked down at her legs and I frowned.

I stood, placing my mug in the sink as I made my way to her.

"We can make Christmas cards where you wear what you want and you really do matter." I said and she grinned.

"You'd do that? Can I shove you in a ugly sweater too?" She smiled.

"Whatever sweater you want. Then people will think it's so legit because we all know I don't do the whole cutesy shit." I raised my eyebrows and she laughed.

"We don't have to, you should probably get going." She grabbed my tie.

"What are you doing?" I asked as she took it off.

She set it beside her, undoing my top button.

"When you're not physically at business work you should do this. It looks a lot better." She undid another button.

"It's considered improper." I smacked her hands away.

"But you look better." She squinted.

"It's 10 in the morning, isn't this too much?" I touched the bare skin showing.

"Not if you look good." She crossed her arms.

"Did I just get a compliment from you?" I smiled.

"Sure. Whatever makes you feel better." She teased.

"Mmhm. Call me if you need anything." I turned and looked at my watch, seeing I was very late.

He can shove his complaints up his whiny asshole.
