《Seeing Red》A sweet gesture.

The sun poured in through the ginormous windows, I was bubbling with excitement. I took a shower and quickly headed down for breakfast, to my surprise both the brothers were sitting at a table in the restaurant.

Charles waved at me so I walked towards them, both of them had been waiting for me to be up. I asked him why, he explained that he left behind some papers and needed them. We headed back to the room, he grabbed the file and was about to leave when I remembered something.

"Charles wait! I got you something!" I rummaged through the bag I took with me to the beach yesterday.

"What is it?"

"Here it is!" I handed him the bandana.

He gave me a big smile taking the bandana but his eyes looked pained.

"Maybe I shouldn't have gotten a navy blue one, you hate it-"

"No Tara-"

"You're always wearing these, I assumed this was a unique colour, I'll get it exchanged I'll get you a red one-"

"Tara will you listen to me!"

"Yes." I calmed down.

"I like it, the blue is unique. Thank you." He smiled.

"I'm glad you did! It's no where close to the gown you gifted me but-"

"No, it's even better. I'm going to wear it." He tied the bandana around his wrist.

He waved goodbye and was off again, both of them set off for the heliport again. I checked my phone to see a notification from Charlotte.

😂

I packed my beach bag for the day and headed down, she told me she was five minutes away. I waited for a while and then a sleek, white sedan rolled up.

I waved at her and quickly headed to the car, she had the biggest smile on her face. Mia was in the backseat, trying to squirm free from the seatbelt.

"Don't even think about!" Both of us exclaimed at the same time.

"See! I knew both of you would get along just well."

"So yesterday I talked to her about why she did not believe in friends and it backfired so bad." Charlotte sighed.

"What happened?"

"She has a sharp tongue! She said that-"

"You and papa don't have friends but you do have people who listen to everything you say." Mia beamed.

"I told you she's a bully." I laughed, "Mia! They have lots of friends!"

"Really? Why haven't I seen any of them come over for play dates?"

"That's something only they can answer."

"See! Tara's my friend we're going around town, this is our play date!"

"Oh! So grown ups do boring things and call it play dates?"

I couldn't help but laugh again, the child had no chill. She said things with no filter and that's what made her one of kind, both her parents were reserved and the kind of people that think 15 times before saying anything.

We stopped for brunch and we were off again, walking through the streets, taking pictures and looking around. The day was hot, we stopped under some shade and ate gelato, which was highlight of the day for Mia.

We were talking about how fun this day had been so far when Charlotte got a phone call, she excused herself to go answer it.

The phone call had put her in a bad mood, her eyebrows were furrowed and her lips were pursed. She patiently waited for Mia and me to finish eating, she said that we were going to have to make a quick stop at her firm.

"These engineers and architects fighting all the time is going to be the death of me." She sighed.

"What happened?"

"Disagreements on this new project in Milan, all they do is fight! Half of my time goes just in managing, I can't get any work done." She frowned.

She stopped the car in front of a very elegant building, and hopped out. I took Mia's hand and the three of us walked in, she was in action the minute we got there.

Ordering people to do things, sorting arguments out and helping them come to a middle ground. We waited in her office for a while and then she joined us.

"Okay, we can head out now, I'm sorry we had to cut short."

"It's okay! Work always comes first! You've worked so hard to get where you are." I smiled.

"You went to business school right?"

"I have two failed businesses though, and I got fired-"

"Tara! You need to stop letting your failures define you! There is so much more to you than that!"

"What are you even saying?"

"You are smart, you know how to conduct yourself around people and above all you have charm."

"Are you calling me charming?" I smirked.

"I need a manager, and you seem like a solid candidate. Think about it."

"I just got to Monaco and then uprooting everything to come here it just seems a lot-"

"You have time until September, just think about it." She smiled.

I thanked her for being so considerate and for giving me this amazing day around Nice, she dropped me off and said that we were going to explore the more happening places of Nice tomorrow.

I walked into the hotel lobby but instantly heard the receptionist call my name, I walked over to her.

"We have an envelope for you, an executive dropped it off." She handed me an envelope. The envelope read:

For Tara, from Charles :)

I held on to the envelope and walked back to the room, what was in this envelope Charles? And when will you stop giving me jump scares at random times!

I opened the envelope and quickly realised what the ID card looking thing was, he had got me a paddock pass! With a very ugly picture of me, I decided to call him up.

"Hello?" He answered.

"You could have just asked me for a better picture!"

"What's wrong with it! You look fine!" He laughed.

"No I don't!"

"You do!"

"Why did you randomly get me a pass? You said you weren't able to arrange for one."

"I felt like shit."

"What?"

"I made you cry, I didn't exactly treat you in the best way and yet when you were walking around Nice, saw a store selling bandanas and thought of me."

"You're always wearing them-"

"Stop! Let me be a good friend. Accept my gesture and fly to Le Castellet, I'll pick you up and you'll attend your first ever Grand Prix!"

"Awesome! I'm so excited! Though there's one slight inconvenience."

"What is it?"

"I don't have the money to check out, if I stayed till the end of the week-"

"Just talk to the receptionist, tell them to add it to my tab."

"Your tab? Charles this isn't a drink it's a hotel room!"

"I'm aware! I've contacted the airport authorities, they'll have a plane ready in the next three hours start packing!"

"You're kidding." I laughed.

"No I'm very serious right now, leave for the airport. I'll be there to pick you up!" He ended the call.

This was all so new and bizarre to me, I didn't know there was lifestyle like this. While I was getting to enjoy it at his expense there was no way I could afford living like this, let's not get too comfortable.
