Chris Argent arrives in Cabeceiras, Brazil to meet with a police contact. The officer pulls a gun, he says an Argent asking to meet alone in the middle of the night requires precautions. He then demands that Argent disarm. The hunter removes a gun from a holster, another from his waistband, and a knife from his sleeve.
Chris presents the officer with an envelope full of cash. He acts insulted at the "bribe" but Chris says the money is for information. The man tells him he'll need a lot more money if he wants people to talk. He says they're superstitious and afraid. After Chris explains he can be "open-minded" about superstitions, the police officer relents and tells the story.
~~~
There are several bloody dead bodies inside a damaged, partially burned shed. From the claws visible on the victims, it's apparent they were werewolves. The officer says the police weren't the only ones investigating the mass murder. walks around the crime scene, he touches what appear to be letters written in blood on the corrugated metal wall of the shed.
Sometime later, many heavily armed men are stacking crates of guns in a bullet-riddled and rundown warehouse. There are several cars parked inside and covered with tarps. A door opens and the man on guard goes to investigate. He is knocked out by an unseen assailant. Hearing the commotion, another of the men goes to look.
The policeman explains to Argent that Derek came in broad daylight, attacking in silence, and took them out one by one. "They said he moved with impossible speed, his teeth as sharp as razors. He stood more than 8' tall."
~~~
Chris stops the officer's story at this point to question the size assigned to Derek in the retelling. The officer explains that it's a small town with big superstitions. He continues the story saying that the attacker's eyes glowed blue.
Derek interrogates the last of the men in the shed. The cornered man calls him "lobo homem" in Portuguese and then "Wolf Man" in English.
~~~
Derek is attacked from behind but easily disarms and subdues two attackers. He turns back to the man he's questioning and asks why they're hunting werewolves. The man is very forthcoming saying "Because of you, he wants you." He asks the man who he's talking about. When he hesitates to answer, Derek shows fangs and glowing eyes and lunges forward, pinning him to the concrete floor.
~~~
The policeman concludes the story, "Gerard. They all said 'Gerard.'" Chris collects his weapons and says he needs to find Derek. The officer continues, "You can't just find him. They said he turned into a wolf and disappeared into the fog." Chris insists he drove a car, but the man says "The lobisomem drives no car."
~~~
In the shed, Derek spies the cars under the tarps and goes to check them out. He removes the sheet from one and reveals what appears to be a 2018 Chevy Camaro. He drives it through the doors of the shed and out into the dirt streets beyond.
~~~
In the morning, the police officer takes Chris to the scene of the mass murder of werewolves. He explains that there were 12 bodies and INTERPOL put out a "red alert" for Derek. On the corrugated metal wall, the words "Beacon Hills" are written in what appears to be blood. The officer asks if the hunter knows what it means. Chris says it's where it all started and where it's all going to end.

Monroe has gathered all of the Hunter army and their recruits to the armory, where they are watching as she tortures Ethan and Brett, who are bound to the metal gate and are being electrocuted where Theo, Jiang, Elias, and Tierney were tortured several days earlier. Ethan and Brett, who both have their fangs out, look exhausted and in agony, as they catch their breath when the shock subsides, their faces covered in blood from their time in captivity.

Another surge of electricity courses through them and they both scream. Monroe dramatically steps out of the shadows where she was originally standing as she begins her spiel.
"Take a good look. We keep that current of electricity coursing through them because otherwise, they'd break through their bindings. Because otherwise, they'd break free and kill us.
Monroe walks to the front of the crowd, which notably includes the McCall Pack's classmates, Sydney, Gabe, and Nolan, among several dozens of others. She stops when she's less than a foot away from Ethan and looks him in the eyes with a sneer.
Ethan, not impressed, growls back at her. "I'd start with you."
As if in response, Monroe starts to electrocute the werewolves again, causing them to roar in pain.
Monroe turns her back to Ethan and Brett so she can face the crowd, her distraction giving them a few moments of relief from the electricity. "The people who came before us used arrows and crossbows to fight them." Monroe holds up a simple arrow to emphasize her point.
"Yeah of course they'd use both. Only one of those would be kinda useless. What would they do with just an arrow? Stab them?" Brett comments, not able to bite back his sarcastic remarks.
"This is all they had to protect themselves-- a sliver of wood," Monroe continues, completely ignoring Brett.
"And metal. I don't think you'll kill much with just wood. We're werewolves, not vampires,"
Monroe turns back toward Brett, who gives her a weak smirk, and grabs him by the wrist.
"While he has claws that can cut into bone, and fangs to tear us apart! He's stronger, faster, and his ability to heal can only be described as extraordinary."
Brett turns his head to the side to look at Ethan. "Can they really cut into bone? I never knew that."
Monroe lets go of Brett before scanning the crowd, finally stopping when she sees Sydney. She points at her with the arrow in her hand. "You." Sydney looks around before realizing that Monroe is talking to her, a realization that causes her to become somewhat shy and uncomfortable. "What's your name?"
"Sydney..."
Monroe walks closer to Sydney to talk to her. In the background, Nolan looks anxious and twitchy. "You've seen them up close." Monroe continues when Sydney remains silent. "Don't be shy."
Sydney takes a deep breath before she tells her story. "There was a lacrosse game... We got trapped in the library."
"And what did you do?"
Sydney looks embarrassed. "Nothing. All we could do was hide."
Monroe nods, expecting this answer due to having been in the same position with the Beast, and smiles at her fakely as she puts a reassuring hand on her shoulder. "It's okay, Sydney. I did the same thing... Until I got tired of hiding." Monroe lets go of Sydney and starts speaking louder again, addressing the rest of the crowd. "Tired of being afraid. And I decided it's their turn to be afraid!" To emphasize her point, Monroe walks over to Brett and stabs him in the abdomen with the arrow.
He growls in response, his eyes glowing golden before electricity courses through the gate again.
Everyone in the crowd seems to mutter in agreement with Monroe, aside from Sydney, who looks conflicted about this, and Nolan, who flinches and looks away, something that doesn't escape Gabe's notice.
"It's their turn! Their turn to hide. Their turn to feel alone!"

Deputy Farrel pulls over the Sheriff's car. The young man advises the sheriff to stay out of the way because "we're not coming for you." Noah says "If you're coming for my friends, you're coming for me."

Scott has now walked into the kitchen, where the stress of the sensation of fear and tension causes him to sigh exhaustedly and look at the floor. After a moment, Scott hears a noise behind him and turns to find Malia, wearing only her underwear and one of Scott's flannel shirts, who puts her arm around him.
~~~
At the armory, Monroe continues her speech to the other Hunters. "Their turn to be hunted." In a gated room, where the newly-merged Anuk-ite seems to be both listening and inflicting his fear-inducement powers on all who are gathered there. "I was alone when I killed that Hellhound-- a creature they said couldn't be killed." Under the influence of the Anuk-ite's powers, the crowd starts to clap and cheer in response to Monroe's words, which does nothing but make Nolan even more uncomfortable. "You know who else was alone?"
Monroe looks over at Nolan, who is barely containing his anxiety and panic over what he's done by involving himself in this army. "Nolan." Monroe beckons toward her with her hand. "Come here." Gabe, whose blank expression prevents Nolan from being able to tell what is about to happen, pushes Nolan toward Monroe. "You wanna know what Nolan did?"
When Nolan joins her in the front, Monroe rests her left hand on his shoulder while Ethan, still exhausted and panting in the background, listens in horror, the arrow still sticking out of the left side of his abdomen. "On his own, late at night, he risked his life to try to take out Scott McCall and Selene Vulpes-- the Alphas." Monroe squeezes Nolan's shoulders affectionately as the Hunters in the crowd all nod and mumble, impressed by this news.
The werewolves react differently to this news. Ethan glances over to Brett and notices the werewolf's glowing eyes and labored breathing that didn't come from the electrocution alone.
"This sixteen-year-old boy put enough bullets in that house, I'm surprised it's still standing!" Monroe looks out at the crowd with a smile. Most of the Hunters are cheering and fist-pumping in glee, but Sydney looks uncomfortable at this brutality, and Gabe looks jealous that Nolan is getting the praise when it was actually he who was behind the McCall House shooting. After a moment of applause, Monroe gestures downward with her hands to indicate she'd like to continue.
"How is hiding in the shadows with a gun risking your life?" Brett growls under his breath as he stares down Nolan. It seems Ethan, Monroe, and Nolan are the only ones able to hear him from the lack of response. "You didn't win anything, you cheated."
"You won't have to be alone!" Monroe exclaims, ignoring Brett. She turns backward and flips up a nearby switch, turning on the overhead lights in the room so that all of the guns and other weapons on the shelves around them are visible to the others. "Thanks to Gerard, you have an armory-- guns, weapons... And, most of all, you have each other." Ethan, still panting from exhaustion, starts to panic at where this speech is heading, but Monroe simply ignores him like she ignored the other werewolf. "I don't wanna pretend that this will be easy. I know it goes against our nature as protectors. But, you're going to have to be like Nolan and Sydney. Keep their bravery in mind as you step out tonight and do what you know you have to do."
Monroe suddenly sneers and turns back to Brett, rushing toward him and ripping the arrow out of his side with such force that a small geyser of blood flies out, causing him to once again roar in agony. Monroe holds the bloody arrow up above her head as nearly everyone in the room cheers, claps, and fist-pumps loudly.
After a moment, Monroe beckons Sydney toward her. "Sydney." Sydney, looking uneasy, slowly walks toward Monroe, who squeezes her hand tightly. "Get him out of here."
When Monroe lets go of Sydney's hand, she sees that the army's leader has placed the keys to Ethan and Brett's shackles into her palm. Sydney, eager not to do more harm to the werewolves, gently unlocks their shackles as she does what she's told. Monroe then gets a strange look on her face before she turns to Nolan, who is shifting anxiously from one foot to the other and generally looking conflicted about where he stands, metaphorically and literally. Monroe holds the blood-coated arrow out to Nolan, who gingerly takes it from her.
"You, too." She turns to someone in the crowd, who holds her eye for a second. "Help them with the other one." Nolan forces himself to join Sydney in hauling Ethan out of the room; though Monroe didn't explicitly say it, it is implied that Nolan is meant to help Sydney finish the Werewolf off. The young man from the crowd helps Brett down and follows after the duo. Monroe then turns back to the rest of the Hunters with a proud smile. "Help yourselves."
More whooping is heard from the rest of the Hunters as they disperse in order to check out the weaponry Monroe and Gerard are offering them. They begin pulling shotguns, assault rifles, and crossbows off of the shelves and being examining them more closely.
Meanwhile, Nolan and Sydney, both of whom look as though they're sick to their stomach, help Ethan into the nearby hallway, half-carrying him about halfway down before he becomes too heavy and forces them to stop. Ethan is extremely weak from being tortured and can barely maintain consciousness long enough to get information about what has happened since he was taking captive as he leans against a nearby steel barrel for support. The man helping Brett drops him next to the other werewolf.
"Where is he? What have you done with him? Where is he? Where's Jackson? Where's Jackson..." Ethan questions breathlessly.
"Save your breath, you're gonna need it." The man comments just as Ethan's eyelids start to flutter, and he ultimately passes out from exhaustion.
Sydney and Nolan share an unhappy look before Nolan looks down at his hands, which are covered in Brett's blood from holding the arrow Monroe handed to him. The metaphor about having blood on his hands doesn't escape him as he begins to ruminate on his actions since joining the army.
"The hell are you two doing here?" The young man asks as he glances behind him at the teenagers.
"What do you mean?" Sydney asks nervously.
"The two of you seem to be the only ones having even the slightest bit of trouble with the brutality of this. Even though you're just as, if not more, terrified as they are."
"That's almost ironic coming from mister emotionless," Brett comments as he tries to catch his breath. The two meet eyes. "Just tell me if she's alive." The man raises an eyebrow before nodding. "I don't know what you're doing, Aquila, just don't get yourself killed," Brett mumbles before losing consciousness.
"The fuck you worrying about me for," The young man mumbles with a slight smile on his face.
"Who are you?" Nolan then asks.
The man stands up and turns to the two teenagers. "The name's Luke Aquila, I'm a hunter,"
Lydia is talking in her sleep as she twists and grips the sheets tightly. She awakes with a start and says, "Where's Jackson?"
~~~
Liz suddenly jerks awake, her eyes glowing purple before she blinks away her shock. Theo, who was laying next to her, also wakes up and quickly picks up on her distress.
"Hey, are you okay?" Theo asks as Liz tries to catch her breath.
"I think I just saw a meeting of Monroe's army through the eyes of the Anuk-ite," Liz replies.
"I take that's a no?"
Liz turns to face Theo. "Brett's alive."

The next morning, Nolan, who looks tired and anxious after the previous night's events, walks into the school library. The rest of the students, who are mingling throughout the aisles of books and the study tables as they gather to do schoolwork, look up at him and begin whispering amongst each other. Their heads all turn to look at him warily, only serving to make Nolan more uncomfortable than before. When one teenage boy walks out of one of the aisles and sees Nolan, he immediately becomes panicked and walks in the opposite direction from him. After a moment of Nolan standing awkwardly in front of a shelf of books, Liam's voice is heard calling out to him as he and Cheryl approach the young Hunter.
"Doesn't feel good, does it?" Liam gives him a hard look as if to silently communicate the parallel between how Nolan is feeling now and how Liam felt after he and Gabe turned the school against him for being a Werewolf.
Cheryl gives Nolan a moment to appreciate the connection before she jerks her head in the direction of the other students. "You know why they're all looking at you like that?" She asks.
Nolan looks around anxiously before turning back to the werewolves. "They're afraid of me?"
"They're afraid of what you're gonna say, and who you're gonna say it to," Cheryl corrects and pushes herself away from the bookcase she was leaning on.
Nolan looks down at his feet and gulps nervously.
"Nobody trusts you anymore," Liam adds.
"Then why are you here? How come you texted me back?" Nolan asks
"Yeah, why are we here?" Cheryl asks as she looks Nolan up and down in disgust.
Liam, clearly still holding a grudge for everything Nolan does, sneers at him in an intimidating fashion. "Because this time, maybe I'll kick your ass," Cheryl smirks in pride. Liam takes a step closer to Nolan in a silent warning, and Nolan immediately begins explaining himself to prevent any bodily harm.
"I said I was going to help. I can show you something-- something I know you're gonna want to see."
Liam pauses for a moment, clearly torn between his distrust of Nolan and his need to gain more information about the Hunter threat. He glances at Cheryl, who has her eyes narrowed at Nolan. The female werewolf turns to Liam with a distrustful look. "Where?" she asks.
Nolan glances at her nervously. "At-at the hospital."
Liam looks at Nolan suspiciously. "Why can't you just tell us what it is?"
"Because I have a plan."
Cheryl laughs at that. "You? You have a plan?"
Nolan continues to stutter his replies, clearly desperate to prove to Liam and Cheryl that his intent to help is legitimate.
"Yeah. Yeah, I-"Nolan stops talking and takes a deep breath to calm himself down before he continues. "I'm gonna show you what you need to see at the hospital. Then, you're gonna kick my ass so that Ms. Monroe thinks you had to beat the information out of me."
Liam and Cheryl freeze for a second as they consider the idea. Liam then turns to Cheryl who raises her shoulders with a small smile.
"Yeah, I'm good with that plan," Liam replies, his tone now agreeable instead of aggressive.

Lydia has just walked through the back door of the McCall House, shutting the door behind her before calling out for her friend. "Scott?" Lydia seems unnerved by how quiet and empty the house is as she makes her way through the kitchen and into the living room. "Scott?"
Suddenly, Peter appears behind Lydia, who doesn't initially notice him as she wanders toward the staircase. "Hello, Lydia."
Shocked by the sound of Peter's voice, Lydia spins on her heel and gasps before closing her eyes in annoyance as she catches her breath. "Uhh... What are you doing here?"
Peter's uncharacteristically nervous demeanor regarding his presence at Scott's house manages to come through his attempt to look casual. "Looking for Malia. What are you doin' here?"
Lydia looks at him pointedly before rolling her eyes. "...Looking for Scott. Obviously."
"Why?"
Lydia frowns in frustration. "Why are you looking for Malia?"
Peter takes a deep breath before speaking what is very clearly a lie. "...Parental concern."
Lydia narrows her eyes, making it obvious that she doesn't believe a word he's saying. "Huh."
Knowing he's caught, Peter tries a different tactic. "Why didn't you just call Scott?"
"Why didn't you call Malia?"

In 1866, ships of several nations spot a mysterious sea monster, which some suggest is a giant narwhal. The US government assembles an expedition to find and destroy the monster. Professor Pierre Aronnax, a French marine biologist (and narrator within the story) receives a last-minute invitation to join the expedition. As the expedition travels south around Cape Horn into the Pacific Ocean, the crew finds the monster after a long search and then attack it, but the ship is damaged with the three main protagonists thrown into the water. They are quickly captured and then meet the enigmatic Captain Nemo. ~ Twenty Thousand Leagues Under the Sea is a classic science fiction novel by French writer Jules Verne and was originally published in 1870.
