LATER IN THE AFTERNOON
*RING! RING! RING!!*
I sighed as I made my way over to the phone. I picked up, "Hey is this Y/n?" It sounded like Eddie. "You're speaking to her." I replied. "This is Eddie and Beverly called and told us to come over because she needs to show us something, I really don't know but we'll meet you downstairs?" Eddie spoke softly into the phone.
"Yeah, sure thing Eds. And where did you get my house's phone number?" I answered/asked. "Phone book." He said. 'How am I already in the phone book?' I thought. "Okay, see ya Eds." I hung up.
I made my way downnstairs and did my usual bathroom morning routine, shower, get dressed, brush teeth, and wash face. I didn't really wear a lot of makeup because I never look good in it.
That was seriously the cutest outfit I had, it was pretty old though.
Surprised it still fits me.
"Morning Y/n!" My mom greeted while she handed me a
piece of toast. "Hi mum! When did you get home? And how's work?" I asked while walking over to the table sit. "About ten minutes ago, I have to go back though. I work as the waiter there and it's really great. I guess I got quite lucky!" She chuckled. "Hanging out with your friends again?" She tilted her hed.
"Yeah." I replied standing up. She walked over to me, "I'm actually really happy that you've made some friends. Back in Florida, it was kind
of difficult to manage.." She confessed. I nodded. "We pushed that behind us. So let's not think about it." I directed and she nodded.
*KNOCK KNOCK*
"Okay well I'll be going now, see you tonight mum! And Crystal!" I blanked off when see Crystal walking down the steps, looking like one little move could've thrown her off balance. "Bye.. Y/n." She yawned the first part.
"Crystal! Tell me you've made some friends?" My mom looked towards her and Crystal shook her head. "Here's ten bucks to buy ice cream and what not." Mom turned back to me and handed me the bill. "Thanks mom." I thanked and rushed over to the door to open it.
When I walked to the door I heard mom say, "You're going out! Here's ten bucks, and when I come back from work, don't be a loner." I giggled. "Wait. Y/n, maybe I could meet these kids." My mom rushed over as I began to turn the knob. "Oh..sure?" I fully opened it and was greeted by the Losers, but I noticed Richie was a little down. "Hey guys! This is my mom." I introduced.. "H-Hello Ms L/n." Bill spoke humbly. "Hey!" Richie shot.
"Y/n has told me a lot about you." She shook everyone's hand. "Really. What has she say about me?" Richie declared. "You're Richie, correct?" She tilted her head and he nodded. "She's told me how you guys have met, how you teach her how to swim, how she trusts you, all that and more!" I grew a variety of different reds and Richie smirked and and grinned at the same time. "Okay well, I should be getting off to work now! See you Y/n." She placed a kiss on my forehead and I made this really awkward smile. "Richie, Stanley, Billy, Ben, and Eddie." She memorized.

As she walked off they began to open their mouths. "Don't say a word." I hopped on my skateboard and rode.
Stan came up with me, while the others behind. "Hi." He spoke but I chose to stay silent. "Not talking?" He teased. "What is it." I shifted my head slightly towards his view. "Its just that.. y-you're really p-pretty." He stuttered. I blushed, "Erm, thanks Stan." I shook. "Like insanely attractive." I blushed 10x harder. "Where's this coming from?" I tilted my head. "I just wanted to say that." He noted, grinning and AGAIN I almost choked on air. "Well, thanks!" I awkwardly said. I skated closer to him, wrapping my arm around his waist tightly.
"W-what are you doing Y/n?" He blushed. "Trying to stay at the same speed as you. Trust me, you wouldn't be able to catch up especially because I don't know where Bev's house is located.." I noted. "Touchē." He nodded.
Richie's POV
I rode in pure anger as I watched Y/n's arm around Stanley.
"You okay Rich, you seem a little tense?" Eddie noticed I was picking at my handlebars. "Yeah. I'm fine - just fine.." I continued to stare at them. "You don't look fine. You look like you could beat up someone with one swing." He chuckled. He looked towards my direction, "Oh! I get it! You're jealous!" He teased. "Am not." I shot back. "J-E-A-L-O-U-S!" He spelled out for me. "Eddie, shut up." I spat. "But are you?" He questioned. "Will I be bad if I was?" I felt shamed and he made these 'aw' noises. "No Rich, that means you probably like her." He summed up. "Then maybe..?"
BACK TO Y/N'S POV
"Why can't we take the alley?" Stan asked. "Because it smells like piss and it's gross! Just take the side streets for once!" Eddie spat. "Oh my God! The side streets smell the same. They smell like piss and shit!" Stan argued. "Can you tell me what she said exactly?" Eddie sighed. "She didnt say anything, she just said we need to hurry over." Stan answered and before you knew it, we arrived at Beverly's estate.
"You made it." She stopped to catch her breath, "I-I need to show you something." She finished. "What is it?" Ben asked. "More then we saw at the quarry?" Richie snickered. "Shut up! Just shut up Richie!" Eddie hissed.
"My dad will kill me if he found out I had boys in the apartment." She warned. "Then w-we'll leave a lookout." Billy justified. "Richie, st-stay here." He demanded as everyone threw down their bike. "Woah, woah, woah! What if her dad comes back?!" Richie pointed out. "Do what you always do! Start talking!" Stan suggested as we walked up Beverly's steps. I laughed earning a look of disgust from Richie. I don't know what I could've done to make him so antsy. I awkwardly followed the rest in Beverly's apartment.

We walked through the hallway and I examined it. "What is it?" Stan asked. "You'll see." Beverly answered. "I just want you to know that 89% of accidents are caused on bathrooms. And I mean, that's where all the bacteria and fungi are.. and it's not really a sanitary place.." Eddie muttered. The door creaked open and revealed a really red room that looked like blood scattered all over the place. "Woah. This is.." I whispered. "I knew it!" Eddie gaged. "You see it?" Beverly asked surprised. "What happened in here?" Stanley asked.
"My dad couldn't see it.. I thought I was going crazy.."
"We c-can't l-leave it like this." Bill muttered. We all stepped in and grabbed some cleaning supplies. We grabbed rubber gloves, towles, and buckets. I put some soap on it and scrubbed the walls thoroughly. Eddie kept gagging, which made me gag. We dumped the blood into the bathtub from a bucket, down the drain.
I wiped off sweat from my forehead and before you knew it, the redness was all gone. I went into the hallway and Stanley spooked me. "Jesus Jew!" I jumped and he rolled his eyes. "Are you okay?" I asked. "Yahuh. This is just so weird." He explained. "Agreed." Then he poked my cheek with his pointer finger about 5 times, "Stan stop." I commanded but he didn't listen. "You're my best friend right?" He asked looking into my eyes. "Yeah! Of course Stan." He smiled. Ben walked past looking very sad, then I looked at Bill and Beverly talking and I felt really bad for the boy.
•••
"No I love being your personal doorman really! Can you idiots have taken it any longer?" Richie debated, circling around us. I was doing a few little tricks on my board. "All right, shut up Richie!" Stan argued. "Yeah, shut up Richie!" Eddie added. "Oh okay, trash the trashmouth I get it! Hey, I wasn't the one scrubbing the bathroom floor imagining her sink went all Eddie's mom's vagina on Halloween!"
"She didn't imagine it. I-I s-s-saw something too." Bill corrected. "You saw blood too?" Stan asked. "No, not blood. I saw G-G-Georgie." Bill made known, "It seemed so real, but there was this- the clown." Eddie finished. "Yeah, I saw him too." We all looked at each other with dismay when Richie said, "Wait.. can only virgins see this stuff? Is that why I'm not seeing this shit?" breaking the mood. We heard a person talking and screaming along with some squirming and yelps for help.
"Oh shit. That's Belch Hugging's car." Eddie frightenly said, "We should probably get outta here." I nodded because Beverly had told me that he was one of the bullies and I didn't want to get injured. "Wait. Isn't that the home schooled kid's bike?" Bill pointed at a bike with meat on the basket of it. "Yeah, that's Mike's.." Eddie shook. "We should help him." Beverly took a stand. "We should?" Richie murmured. "Yes!" Beverly dropped her bike flat on the street and ran, the rest doing the same. Stan, being the tidy boy he is, put on his stand. I followed Stanley into the bushes.
I panted as we made our way to a river with a group of boys, haunting that boy. Beverly thew a rock at the tall boy, on top of the kid. "Nice throw." Stan complimented. "Thanks."
The kid swam over to us so I decided go help him get on the rocks quicker. "T-Thank you." He thanked. He had dark brown eyes and clothes were wet. "No problem."
I grabbed rocks while standing back up. "Is that Henry?" I whispered into Beverly's ear. "Yeah. Just be alert." She warned and I nodded. "You Losers are trying to hard. She'll do you. You just gotta ask nicely, like I did." He rubbed his area and I gagged. "And who's this?" He directed his head towards me, "Another slut? Guess she doesn't know what's coming to her." I'm already starting to hate this. 'Henry.' "Ignore him." Stanley told. Ben roared and threw a rock directly hitting Henry's forehead. .
"What the fuck?" Henry ticked as Beverly threw another rock at the gang. "ROCK WAR!!!" Richie screeched and a rock was thrown at his forehead which caused him to fall. And as if it was on que, we all started to throw rocks. I have terrible aim but somehow managed to hit some of the boys.
"Get the hell outta here!"
"Fuck you, motherfuckers!"
"Ah, shit!"
"Fuck you bitch!"
We all dived, turned, and threw as if it were a strategy so much to the point that the kid joined too. The rest of his gang fled away leaving Henry stranded on the rocks. We all panted and glanced at each other. Stanley, Eddie, and I helped Mike with his limp. I was in the back so I watched Richie yelp, "GO BLOW YOUR DAD YOU MULLET WEARING ASSHOLE!" And flip him off. I giggled but I made sure he couldn't see it because he's obviously pissed at me."Thanks guys but you shouldn't have done that. He'll be after you guys too now." Mike cautioned.
"Oh, no Bowers? He's always after us." Eddie justified. "I guess t-t-that's one thing we all have in common." Bill said, "But not Y/n, she didn't experience this till now!" Stanley widened up. "Yeah homeschool! Welcome to the Losers' Club!" Richie welcomed.

Dungeons & Demons
*!* This story is currently being continued on a different page, following years of hiatus and extensive rewrites *!* Please follow the link to read the up-to-date version: https://www.royalroad.com/fiction/53863/cycles-of-ruin Basil von Doom is a powerful dungeon keeper with a simple mission: to bring ruin and destruction upon civilized worlds at the height of their decadence and stagnation. Much like his father before him, the new master of House Doom is a prodigy of war, yet the venerable minions of his household still hold strange loyalties toward his missing ancestor, silently comparing the legendary rage of his father to the more pragmatic approach of the son. Adding to Basil’s frustrations is the lack of accomplishment he feels for his work, with the dungeon keeper often taking on handicaps just to give his enemies a fighting chance. With all the power and wealth one could ever dream of already within his grasp, Basil now finds that the achievements of others kindle more joy in his heart than his own crushing victories. Thus Basil has taken up mentoring the next generation of dungeon keepers to try and diagnose the cause for his own lack of passion. With his apprentice, Elnora, managing most of the daily work around the dungeon, Basil can finally turn his attention towards his personal concerns, such as tackling the shadow of his legendary father that still looms large over him.

God complex
A hero is summoned to another world, vanquishes evil, yadda yadda, saves the kingdom and lives happily ever after. There is no such hero in this story. Just a desperate youth with great ambition and very little to lose. A zero to hero style story set in a country clearly inspired by modern USA with just as many issues and the minority of mages often pulling strings from the shadows. I am also hoping the whole thing won't turn out edgy enough to cut me. I want to rely on actual good writing rather than cheap powertrip gimmicks. edit: Please don't mind Zetari's salty review. He is quite literally making up any use of the torture and human experimentation trope and says MC is blank after 4 chapters where he conveniently stops reading just at the start of his first character development. For extra entertainment, I will be uploading chapters two at a time and compose a relevant poem through the chapter names. [participant in the Royal Road Writathon challenge]

Humanity's End
Given a year to prepare by the mysterious ‘system’ for contact with the wider galaxy, humanity must work to ensure the Earth’s defense is ready to meet any challenge. Sadly, most of the world seems dedicated to tearing itself apart as the year-end deadline gets closer. The west is in barely contained Chaos, while the east descends into internal conflict and war. The Pillar Forts, one of the few successful projects of the United Nations headed by the United States, stand ready to defend humanity against any invasion that may come through the strange Connection Pillars that appeared on each continent. Massive steel and stone walls that surround the Connection Pillars. They are filled with deadly men and women trained in all manner of warfare, each trained in the newly acquired System with skills and magical abilities that they put to deadly purpose. Beside these brave warriors, tanks, helicopters, artillery and more stand ready to defend humanity at each of these powerful installations. But, can they overcome the disparity in levels and experience between themselves and the forces that threaten them and the rest of humanity? Main Characters Jessica Brown- A young African American girl. Her 18th birthday in Detroit was the same day the systems message appeared. She discovered she was Level 7, much higher than most of the rest of the world. Why she is blessed, or cursed, with the power she doesn’t know. But what she does know is that she rather likes the feeling that comes with manipulating magic. The week after her birthday, government workers started testing every person in the US in a massive census effort of skills and abilities. Jessica Brown found herself conscripted into the US Magical Corp, a new branch of the US Military, and shipped off to a Pillar Fort. Somewhere hot and muggy in her ancestors’ home of Africa. As she grows stronger, she finds she has some connection to the pillars. While everyone else sees beauty or danger when they look at the pillars, after connection is made all Jessica can see is a Tree. A tree the size of the entire universe. Isaka Smith - is a third generation American and farmer who just wants to be left alone. But she is dragged into the situation by events beyond her control. When people in her small town had to deal with rioters and looters after the system announcement, she rallied them to defend themselves, earning her a trait that the government found extraordinarily useful. After a visit to a local reservation, she finds herself conscripted to lead one of the many small support towns erected around the great pillar forts. Not near her old home, but in far-flung Africa. John McIntire, the “Fighting Bull” -The commander of the African Fort, but because of circumstances beyond his ability to contend with shortly after taking command after being re-activated from retirement, he finds communication with his chain of command increasingly difficult. The US government, hell, even the United Nations, seems to have fallen into complete and utter chaos. The African Union is embroiled in a bitter civil war just outside his door, and supposedly, most of the world governments are in similar situations. Meanwhile, John must do his best to be ready to facilitate diplomacy, or to match the hostile argument of whatever force might come through the pillar of light when the year timer finishes counting down. Can our heros defend Earth from outside threats, while it tares itself apart? Or will they need to rebuild from the ground up? DEDICATION: This story is dedicated to my father who passed away recently. Jim Holloway, you’ll be missed you old silverback gorilla. Love you dad. Always have, always will.
