You walked down the busy street trying to find your parents. You had lost them in the crowd about thirty minutes ago when you had wandered off after seeing a small black kitten left in a cardboard box. You were carrying that same kitten while you asked people if they had seen your mother or your father. No one tried to help you and it was getting dark.
A small girl like you should not be around at night and your parents had always told you-you weren't strong enough to defend yourself in the night. While you had disagreed at the time and demanded that they let you learn to fight, they waved you away saying, "You're only six and we don't have the money to put you in a class anyway."
You do love your parents but sometimes it's hard to trust them. They haven't always been there for you when you needed or want them but you always pushed the doubts and negative thoughts away and excused it for them being busy. But as of this moment, you almost believe they didn't bother to look for you.
"Excuse me, little girl?" A hooded man said, suddenly popping out from an alley. You stopped and glanced at the other men in the dark, your stomach suddenly had butterflies. "Are you lost?"
"Y-yes, do you know where my mommy and daddy are? Their names are (M/N) and (D/N) (L/N)." You looked up at the man in front of you. He seemed to be younger than your parents and some of the guys looked to be teenagers. You hugged the now squirming kitten as you take a small step back.
"Aw, is that your cat?" He taunted you as he took a step closer with his hands out in front of them. Your nose crinkled in disgust as you got a waft of sweat and other stenches you couldn't describe.
"N-no, I f-found it." You stuttered out. Suddenly, the kitten has been ripped away from you and it gave out a loud cry. "Hey! Gi-give it back!"
You reached out for the feline but the man kept moving back with his hands wrapped tightly on the poor thing. The cat was squirming and crying out in dismay and its hurting you as you jump and move forward to reach out. You were lured into the alley and you start to notice all of them surrounding you. You let out a whimper, spinning around in a circle. Your heart was racing, you were breathing hard, and your vision was getting blurry.

You heard a much louder cry from the kitten and you gasped. You suddenly felt angry at the man laughing as he squeezed the little one in his grasp. Out of desperation, you punched him on the stomach hard. When he leaned down, you quickly followed it with a high kick on the crotch. The man doubled over and dropped the kitten to the ground, which let out a small yelp and landed with a thump. You scurried over and grabbed the kitten and landed on your bum. The others were closing on you quickly and all you could do was curl up in a ball as they hit and kick you. You made sure the kitten was out of their aim and you start to scream in pain and panic.
"SOMEBODY, HELP ME!" You sobbed and were grabbed by the collar of your dress but clung to the kitten and started to kick anyone who came near you. A large thump was heard and you were dropped, scrapping your knees on the concrete floor. You hugged the mewling kitten to your chest as you looked at the large and spikey person. Your eyes widened to see their skin green, a shell full of spikes and wore a red bandana. You believe he was a snapping turtle just from the looks of it.
"Alright, guys, we can do this the easy way or the hard way." Their voice was deep and sounded angry.
"Look, freak, this ain't your business." The man you had hit shouted out from behind you. You try to scoot away from him but he roughly grabbed you on the hair. You cried out and you didn't do anything but look at the turtle, pleading for help as tears continued to run down your face. He noticed and growled before taking out weapons you didn't know the name of.
"Oh, you just made it my business when you decided to bully a little girl."
"Get him!" You watched with amazement as he fought them all off with red glowy things sometimes showing up. You think it's magic but you realized you need to hide somewhere when a guy landed beside you, knocked out cold. You behind a trashcan and try to peak out occasionally. It quieted down after a while but you remained hidden, you didn't know if the big turtle won or they did.

"You can come out now." The same deep voice called out. You peeked out and noticed the gang all lying on the floor groaning or knocked out. Standing up, you ran towards your savior and hug him while being careful not to squash the kitten.
"Thank you." You choked out, you were starting to cry again. You felt him tense up and just as you were about to let go, he wrapped his arms around you after kneeling down.
"You're welcome."
Months later, the turtle— who's name is Raphael— visits you in your bedroom window as many nights as he can. You had told him you got lost and along the way to your home, you told him about how your parents are like. He didn't like how you were being neglected but you brushed it off. He helped tend to your wounds but him being so big, it was a bit difficult but you found a way.
You made him promise to visit you occasionally and he happily kept it. Both of you always did some fun activities when he visits and never failed to make you smile. You always try to sit on his lap or his shoulders as much as possible and cuddles because he always gives the best. You have visited the lair before and met all his brothers and you do look up to them as your big brothers, it's Raph that you trust and go to the most. He taught you things and is always honest with you.
Light knocking caught your attention and you grinned. Dropping your crayon, you ran to your window and looked through the curtain to see a smiling Raph. You quickly snapped open the lock and pushed your window up, bouncing from one foot to another.
"Hey, Pipsqueak." He greeted.
"Big brother!" You jumped and hugged him while wrapping around his neck. He automatically hugged you back. He set you down and knelt down in front of you and realized your face formed into a pout.
"Can't stay for too long, I have a mission to complete tonight. Think you can take care of yourself tonight?" You nodded with a look of determination on your face.
"I can take care of myself! I'm a big girl!" You said with your chest puffed up.
"Uh, yeah, you are a big girl." You giggled. He lifted a fist up, a gesture you found out was a fist bump. Just as you were about to, you stopped and ran to your desk.
"Oh, I almost forgot!" You grabbed the drawing on your desk, the crayons rolling off to the floor but you didn't care. You ran to him and showed him a picture of him and you holding hands and on the top saying 'Best big brother ever!'. When the red-masked turtle saw the drawing, he teared up because you decided to take the time to make something for him.
"I wanted to say thank you for everything you've done for me." You said shyly, he looked at you with a toothy grin. "Do you like it? It's ok if you don't."
"I don't like it." You deflated. "I love it!" You giggled as he picked you up and peppered you with kisses making you laugh and squirm in his grip.
"I'll put this drawing up on my wall. You did an amazing job with this." He said after a few moments. He placed you down and headed for the window with you drawing in his hand. "I'll see ya later, sis."
"I'll see you later." You waved watching him fit through the large window and hear his brothers gushing and teasing him. You beamed and closed your window and locking it just like Raph wanted you to. You're glad you met Raph because it means you met the greatest big brother ever and his family. After for so long, you felt truly happy.

The Ruins of Magincia
They say all things end in time, but the exalted City of Magi would’ve begged to differ. Yet when an attempted coup goes wrong, the city finds itself brought to the very brink of destruction. In the wake of the calamity that left no survivors, the autonomous infrastructure still operating the ruined city seeks to restore what was lost. Luckily for it, the Mana-devoid Universe it awoke in holds an unexpected surprise: a planet full of sentient life forms. All capable—with a little help—to become the next generation of Magi. Back on Earth, Millie McArthur is a pregnant out-of-work mechanic struggling with the prospect of moving back in with her parents after leaving her unfaithful fiancé. That is until she finds herself just one of the hundreds that have been shanghaied by the callous artificial constructs still manning the ruins of Magincia. Now, she must struggle to learn magic, compete for resources, get good 'grades,' and fulfill the seemingly arbitrary requirements for her future job in this broken city. All while keeping herself, and her son, alive. Is the miracle of magic really enough to make up for all the pain? The Ruins of Magincia is a dark fantasy that's heavy on the drama (LitRPG aspects are very light). Chapter lengths can be anywhere from 7k-12k and there's no current release schedule as I'm focusing on wrapping up volume one.

Home of Laplace
I opened my eyes to an unfamiliar mountain peak standing tall above me like seeing a skyscraper from the street. Soon the chilling burn of the snow that covered me began to invade my senses and I flung my torso upward, sitting up straight. I grabbed my head in confusion as my eyes surveyed the area around me: The corner of a mountain wall stood menacingly in front of me accompanied by thin, dangerous looking paths on either side. The likes of which only adrenaline-seeking psychopaths would use. I turned my head backwards and felt my heart drop as what looked like an infinitely long freefall met my gaze. I was sitting on the ledge of a snow-covered mountain. "CRKKKK" A heart-shaking croaking sounded from above me further up the mountain and I jolted backwards at the impossibly loud sound. 'Shit, wasn't there nothing behind me?' The sound of cracking stone accompanied the heart dropping sensation of descension. As I plunged down backwards, the last thing I saw was the deep-set brown eyes of that blue-skinned monstrosity further up the mountain. ----------------------------------------------------- Levi Laplace is a former genius biochemistry student that died a simple and laughable death on earth.
