"Are you going try out today?" Metri asked me as soon as she saw me enter the gym.
"Yeah. I think I will." I said.
I finally made up my decision. I decided that I would tryout since my Metri keeps asking me to.
"Melo, Gelo!" Metri said running over to the practicing boys. "She said she going to try out ."
"Metri didn't i tell you to stop interrupting my practices?"
"No." She said with an attitude.
"Well I am now. Get out my practice."
"Can we join?" I asked.
"As long as y'all don't interrupt and get them off track."
"Aight." We say at the same time.
We go into the locker room and change. I change into white Nike gym shorts with a white Nike dry fit shirt and a grey white and black sports bra.
I put on some black Nike elite socks. (Y'all pick my shoes)
I grab my basketball and head out to the practice. Me and Metri stretch and do a few drills.
"Alright we're going to do. We're going to do conditioning so everyone with asthma take your pumps and even if you don't have asthma y'all should take some breathing medicine to because I'm not going easy."
About 5 boys run over to there bags and get there pumps. I go to my back pack and take out my pump.
"Let go sprints Down and back is one! We're doing 10!" He blows his whistle.
"Leys go boys and girls." Coach said.
I'm pretty fast because run track.( I forgot to tell y'all this.) but I also am conditioned because of soccer.
After the 5th one I'm pretty tired. Not as tired as half of the team. Gelo, Eli and Melo aren't that's tired either.
They are breathing hard but they're not laying on the ground dying like someone others.
"You boys are getting beat by girls! Pick it up !" Coach blows the whistle.
I'm in front along with Melo, Gelo, Eli, O and Metri.
This is the only time I've ever been grateful for hills.
"Last one let's go boys." I yell out.
We start our last one and I put everything I have into this one. I run all the way down to the wall. For ever 3 steps I take Melo take 1.
Totally not fair.
"10 minute break and then we are doing stadiums."
We all groan and go get a drink of water.
I go over to my bag and lay on the court.
"Kaylee I haven't ran that much since freaking 8th grade." She said huffing and laying on a bench.

"We run everyday after school." I say as fast as I can.
"Yeah but we don't do sprints like that everyday. We only do hills twice a week." She said.
"You know the floor is dirty right?" Gelo said sitting down on the bench ahead of where I was laying.
"Thats nice to know ." I say closing my eyes.
"You're pretty fast Kay kay." Eli said.
"Yeah I know." I said. I really didn't want to talk right now my lungs feel like they are about to burst and my heart feels like its stopping. Oh the joy of having asthma.
I reach my hand up to my bag and get my pump. I take two more puffs and roll on my back.
"I hate running."
"But you play soccer, basketball and run track... how you hate running?" Metri said.
"It's just so much work." I sitting up.
"You so lazy." She said.
"I'm lazy? I had to pull you out of bed to do hills."
"Why you telling my business like that girl?" She said .
Stadiums! Let go."
I actually hate my life.
It's after school and everyone who is going to try out for the girls team is here. Everyone is getting stretched .
"You ready for this?" Metri asked.
"Yeah I'm a lil nervous though." I said lacing up my... (your pick.)
"Alright girls. We're going to start with lay ups."
"Whats a lay up?" A tiny girl asked.
"Please leave." Coach Madison said. "I'm trying to when a trophy this year I can't deal with people who don't know simple stuff."
The girl ran out of the gym crying.
I understand if you've never played before but damn not know what a lay up is? You gotta come prepared.
"Anyone else have a stupid questions?" She asked. "No? Okay. Let's start."
She told us to split into two lines for left hand and right hand lay ups.
One side went and then the other side went and then you switch lines and so on and so on.
We did that for a while then we went to drills. We did basic ladder drills and. after we did the basic ladder drills we combined those with a lay up.
So basically she was standing at the end of the ladder and she handed us a ball and we went up for two.
"Hey coach!" A loud voice said coming into the gym.
"Shut up Eli I'm doing something." She said. This lady is almost as tough as the boys coach maybe tougher.

After we did the basics she showed us more difficult drills. Me and Metri already knew how to do them so we completed them easily a long with a few other girls. As for the rest of them ... I don't know we need to discuss that.
I could feel the eyes of the boys basketball team on us. I guess they wanted to predict who there lady huskies were gonna be.
"And your names are?" The coach asked me and Metri.
"Kaylee Williams." I said.
"DaMetria Miller. But I go by Metri."
Metri hates her full name she thinks it sound ghetto. Coach just nods her head and goes back to yelling and the other kids.
"We're gonna do jump shots at the three point line."
She made us do this weird drill were we shot from the left corner then we ran to the right corner and shot then the top of the arch.
When we got the hang of it everyone look like they were going in a zigzag.
"Come one girls. You gotta get the ball in the basket." She said.
I could tell she was getting frustrated. Half of these girls were air balling it or basically just throwing it at the basket.
One of the girls literally launched it at the basket from behind her head with both of her hands. She looked like she was throwing a soccer ball in.
"Break!" Coach yells and walks out the gym.
I walk over to the boys team and sit down in front of Melo.
"You look good out there." He said to me.
"Thank you." I said drinking my water.
"I look better." Metri said.
"Bitch don't hate."
"Shut you black ass up." She said laughing.
"Yo man likes it doe." I kiss my finger and make sizzling sound when I put it on my butt.
"Quit buggin." She said.
"You two are some fools. Go back to work kids." Gelo said pushing us.
We both laugh and walk done the bleachers. I was looking at Metri and wasn't looking ahead of me.
"Yo watch where you going bitch." The familiar voice of Victoria says.
"This the second and last time you gon call me a bitch." I said getting in her face.
"Get out the way shorty." She said.
"Just cause I'm short don't mean we cant post up cause it's really nothing. I can still fight yo white ass on the court and off." I said. "If you wanna step outside we can."
"You're not gonna hit me." She said pushing her blond hair away from her face.
"Bet. Call me out my name again and see what happens." I said staring her down.
"Okay that's enough." Metri said pulling my arm. "Let's go Kaylee before you get yo short ass into trouble.
" man she really trippin." I said calming myself down.
"You go Kaylee. You go girl!" O yelled in a girly voice making me laugh.
"Shake it off shake it off." Melo yelled / sang.
"Just Kodak on her!" Eli yelled.
What would I do with out these boys?
"Scrimmage. Kaylee and you with the red shirt on team captains." She pointed to me and none other than Victoria.
We start the game and I got the ball.
"Go to the basket!" I yell being guarded by Victoria. She's pretty good but not better than me.
I pass the ball to Metri and she shoot for three and makes it.
About 20 minutes go by and have 2 more minutes until we're done. My team is down 2.
I get the ball and I am guarded by Victoria.
"Don't be sad sweetie. It's okay than im better than you will ever be." She said loudly making the boys go "ooh"
I get low and do a jab step and stand back up creating space.
"Not good enough." She said.
I dribble the ball between my legs a few times.
I fake right then go left. She catches up quickly and holds her hand out. I go between my legs twice do a behind the back, pretend to drive. I do a quick spin move making her trip an have to use her hand to stay up. I step back while shes unbalanced making her fall all the way this time and shoot.
The ball seems like it's in the air for ever until is finally hits the nets
"Ohhhhhh!" I hear the boys go crazy. " I got that on live too!"
"Let's go baby!" Metri said as we do our handshake.
I see Victoria sitting on the court and I yelled to her.
"Don't be sad sweetie. It's okay that I'm better than you will ever be." I repeated what she said to me earlier.
"You go Glen CoCo!" Gelo yelled.
I know you shouldn't kick someone while there down but what's better than proving somebody wrong AND using there words against them?
Thats right ... nothing!
