《Mindlessly Wandering (Shinso x Reader)》Chapter 15

Aizawa took me back into his room and slightly shut the door, leaving it open just a crack.

"Talk to me, what's going on in that little head of yours?" He asked quietly. I just stood there and looked down at my feet, shrugging my shoulders.

"Nobody just gets up at 4:30 in the morning to do something in the bathroom and then hug a certain lavender haired boy."

I thought back to the nightmare I had and seeing my father's reflection in the mirror.

Would it even matter if I told him?

Would Aizawa really care?

Why did Aizawa adopt me?

I'm such a burden to him...

Why can't I be better?

Had I just dealt with it, Aizawa could be sleeping right now...

So many thoughts were running through my head and I wanted them to stop. The more that they ran about, the more pathetic I felt.

"Was it about him?" Aizawa asked, causing me to slightly lift my head.

"So it was–"

"No, I'm fine." I interuppted not wanting Aizawa to worry about me more than he already has.

His eyes widened at my sudden outburts.

"Then why was Shinso hugging you?"

"He scared me while I was getting some water, he felt bad and hugged me because it just surprised me that much."

If I keep telling myself I'm fine, then I will be. Just don't let anyone else worry about you.

"(Y/n)..." Aizawa sighed and then caved, "Alright. If you don't want to talk, then we don't have to. But just know that I will only worry more if you don't keep me updated with how you're feeling." He said with a gruff voice and rubbed my head.

"Now, try and go back to sleep kiddo."

I just nodded my head and scurried off waving goodnight and shutting his door.

I let out a small breath and turned around to go back to my room when Shinso popped into my vision.

"Him? Who's him" Shinso asked scaring me again.

He apologised and walked back with me to my room.

"It's...it's nothing. Really." I answered.

"Well it doesn't seem like nothing." Shinso said as he got into bed next to me.

"Well, it was." I said lying down with my back facing him, "Goodnight, Shinso."

"...Goodnight, (y/n)..."

I didn't sleep at all...I was too afraid to. Afraid that I would see him again.

My body felt weak as I watched the sun rise.

Wait. . .the sun? I can see it?

I sat up from my bed and walked over to my sliding door, pulling the curtains to the side so I could get a better view.

There it was, the sun shining through a sea of clouds that were slowly dispersing.

"Shinso..." I said at barely a whisper, "The sun..."

I turned around and realized that...he wouldn't be awake.

That's right...he fell asleep and I didn't...

I turned back towards the door and slid it open so I could go outside.

There wasn't much of a breeze, and it wasn't gloomy anymore. The sun slowly crept up as time slipped away.

I was now leaning against the rail, my eyes never leaving the golden rays that made their way over the city.

I took a deep breath of fresh air in, it felt nice if I was being honest. Being cooped up in this place was making it stuffy and seem small.

"It's pretty..." A tired voice spoke.

I didn't turn my head to look as I knew it was Shinso.

"Yeah.." I agreed.

We both stood there just watching the sun rise in silence. It was comfortable, and relaxing.

Aizawa soon joined us too.

"It's nice that the storm has passed." He said leaning against the door way.

"C'mon, let's go get some breakfast." He beckoned.

. . . . .

"I didn't think you'd actually take us out to go and get breakfast." Shinso said as we walked to nearby cafe.

"We've been stuck in that place for way too long, I am rewarding myself." Aizawa said.

We walked into the cafe and sat down in a booth. This was my first time eating out, I was nervous to say the least, but excited."

The waitress handed us menus and iced waters to start with and left to go do other things.

Both Aizawa and Shinso opened their menus and began browsing the items, I did the same. Carefully looking over each thing, I still didn't know what to get.

There were so many options.

"Having a hard time picking?" Shinso asked me. I nodded my head.

"Me too, a lot of it looks super good. I think I'm going to try their cinnamon roll." He said with a smile.

Cinna-what?

The confused look on my face confused Shinso.

"Don't tell me you've never had a cinnamon roll..."

"Sorry.." I said and looked down.

"Don't apologise, just get it. Trust me. You won't regret it!" He beamed.

I looked back up and wanted to smile back...but I couldn't bring myself to do it.

Shinso awkwardly rubbed the back of his neck and moved his eyes back to the menu.

I did the same and looked at the cinnamon roll.

He said I wouldn't regret it...so should I just get this then?

The waitress came back with a smile on her face and asked if we were ready to order.

"I'll just have a black coffee, thanks." Aizawa said.

"Can I please have the cinnamon roll with a hot chocolate?" Shinso asked.

"Sure!" The waitress said, and then her eyes went to me.

The pressure I felt to speak made me feel uncomfortable and nervous. It was like she was going to judge the way I speak or judge what I order.

Time started moving slower and at this point it felt like everyone's eyes were boring into me. Instead of looking at the waitress, I turned my attention back down to the floor and fiddled with my hands.

"(Y/n)..." Shinso called, I slightly looked up, "Do you want the cinnamon roll?" He asked.

I didn't answer.

"She'll just do what I ordered please." Shinso spoke up for me.

"Alright then, I'm sorry if I made feel uncomfortable sweetie, I understand how nerve wracking it can be to talk to other people. So don't worry about it, okay?" She said and then hurried off to get our order in.

I did it again...I messed up.

Maybe it's better if I don't talk or follow anyone at all...

"(Y/n), don't beat yourself up. It's your first time going out to eat so I expected it. Thank you Shinso, for helping her out." Aizawa said.

"Yeah no problem, but is it really your first time eating out?" Shinso asked.

I nodded my head.

"Well then, you're in for a treat. Eating out is one of the best things to do. You think food at home is good? Just wait til you try this stuff!" Shinso hyped.

The waitress came back and set down mugs on our table. She slid one over to Aizawa, to Shinso, and then to me.

"Enjoy!" She said.

Aizawa and Shinso muttered a quick thanks and she went off.

I grabbed the mug and brought it to my lips.

"Careful (y/n), that's a hot beverage and they usually make them more hot at cafes, don't burn yourself." Aizawa said sipping from his cup.

"I've got mad respect that you can drink pure black coffee sir while it's still hot sir." Shinso admired.

"Thanks...?"

. . . . .

Soon enough, the waitress came out with our food and set it in there respected places. She set down a small bit of cake in front of Aizawa.

He looked back up at her, "I didn't order this...?"

"It's on the house, we're so excited to serve you Eraserhead!"

The waitress ran off again leaving us alone.

"To be a pro hero...I can't wait for the day I become one." Shinso said determined.

"Good luck with that one. It's not as glorious as some make it out to be." Aizawa chuckled.

"I don't care for the fame and glory, I just want to prove to people that my quirk doesn't have to be that of a villains."

Aizawa was silent for a moment as he sipped his coffee.

"I see.." He said, "Hurry and eat, we've got to take Shinso home, (y/n)."

I felt my eyes widen slightly at his words.

Oh...that's right..Shinso has a family of his own..

I took a bite of my cinnamon roll and it was probably one of the best things I have ever had, but I couldn't help but feel somewhat sad that Shinso was going home today.

We were in Aizawa's car, I sat in the back with Shinso.

"Turn here." Shinso said, and Aizawa made the turn as instructed, "Yup, there it is. Third house on the left."

"Alright then, make sure your parents know what happened and why you were gone." Aizawa said.

"Sir, they do know. I have a phone and they wanted to thank you."

"Oh, I see. Well, it wasn't a problem so they don't need to thank me."

Shinso took off his seat belt and looked at me one last time before he left.

"I'll see you around at school, kay?" He smiled.

I just nodded my head.

With that, Shinso left and Aizawa drove us back home.

I strangely felt excited for school to start.
