《Mindlessly Wandering (Shinso x Reader)》Chapter 6

This is...a lot
I was sitting in a booth on the seat across from Aizawa, and before me, were six different flavours of ice cream all in their own bowl.
"Alright, since it's your first time, we should figure out which is your favourite flavour." Aizawa said. He began pointing at each bowl and naming what it is.
"Vanilla, chocolate, strawberry, oreo, sherbert, and mint chocolate chip."
"Uhh..." I had a small spoon in my hand and decided to try the vanilla first. My eyes widened as I tasted it for the first time.
"Good huh?" Aizawa had a smile smile on his face as I nodded.
It's so good what the heck?
I continued to try each flavour, but continued to come back to (f/flavour). It was so good.
"So then, figured out your favourite flavour?"
I nodded my head again as I continued to eat it. I then felt a burning sensation in my head and closed my eyes tightly.
"Haha, first brain freeze probably. Yea, if you eat too much too fast, that'll happen and it's annoyingly painful." Aizawa laughed.
We quickly finished our ice cream and headed home.
"Alright, what do you want for dinner?" He asked. I shrugged my shoulders and looked at his baggy eyes.
"How bout pizza?"
"Okay." I answered.
"You finally talk to me and your first word is 'okay'?"
"I'm sorry..." I apologized and looked at my feet.
I felt him put a hand to my head which made me flinch.
"No need to apologize, I know it's a lot to take in kid." He said gently patting my head.
I've got to stop fliniching. Aizawa isn't going to hurt me. He promised.
Aizawa went to go call for pizza, and left me in the living room. I stared at the blank TV that showed nothing but my own reflection.
"I look so...pitiful."
I hate myself for looking that way...at least try to look presentable.
I shook my head to try and get rid of the bad thoughts and flopped down onto the couch.
"Alright, pizza's on its way, what do you want to do?" Aizawa came back in and sat down next to me. I shrugged again.
"You know, the TV is meant to be watched right?"
"I just wasn't sure if I could..." I answered truthfully.
"Of course you can use the TV, you don't have to ask for permission to have entertainment. This is your home. Yours and mine, meaning you can do whatever you want here."
"It's hard to get used to that...sorry." I mentally slapped myself for apologizing again.
Aizawa turned on the TV and started to surf through the channels. The screen cut to a news channel.
"We're sorry to interrupt, but we ask that you listen to this nationwide message. Make sure you are prepared for the following weeks as a category 3 typhoon will hit sometime in 3 days. The following cities should be prepared for power outages and winds up to 124 miles per hour. Hamamatsu, Numazu, Yamanashi, Shizuoka, and Kanagawa. We suggest you prepare for staying indoors for 3-4 days. Thank you for listening to this broadcast."
The channel cut out and began to play some sort of drama. I looked at Aizawa who sighed.
"Alright then, I guess I should probably go get some necessities. Anything you want in particular?"
I shook my head no as he stood up.
"I won't be long, you can just sit here and watch TV while I'm gone. If you hear a knock on the door, it's probably the pizza guy so just hand him this." Aizawa handed me some yen and headed for the door.

I tried my best to not silently freak out as he opened the door and left quickly.
"U-uhm...okay..."
He opened the door and walked back in. He grabbed a pen and paper and wrote something down.
"Here's my number if you need anything. Again I won't be long, but here it is anyways. The phone is by the toaster." He said and quickly left again.
"He's in such a hurry...I hope everything will be alright, the lady on the screen sounded really serious."
It had been about 10 minutes since Aizawa left, and I could hear the wind picking up already.
"I thought we had a couple of days before the typhoon started...?"
There was a loud crash of thunder that caused me jump out of fear.
Why did it have to be thunder of all things!? I'm terrified of thunder!!
There was a big burst of lightning and I prepared myself for the thunder. Just as it struck I fell to my knees and covered my ears.
It's so loud!!
I kind of just huddled into myself and sat in a ball on the floor with my eyes shut under a blanket.
Come home faster Aizawa. Please come home faster.
Just as if the universe read my thoughts I heard the door open and footsteps walking in.
"(Y/n) I'm back." I heard him say. I slowly stood up from the floor still wrapped up in the blanket. Aizawa gave me a confused look as lightning flashed and thunder followed again. Causing me to yelp and jump.
"Scared of thunder?" He asked with his hands still full of bags. I nodded my head.
He gave me a weird look and started to put away things that he had gotten.
It was mostly food, but there were some other things in there that I didn't know.
"Do you want some help?" I asked quietly.
"You can help if you'd like." He answered. I put the blanket down on the couch and shuffled my way into the kitchen to help put away food.
There was another flash of lightning and I tried to keep myself calm.
"Thunder can't hurt you." Aizawa said.
"I-I know, it's just loud..." I said embarrassed. The loud crash of thunder hit causing me to flinch violently. Aizawa stared at me as I tried to stop shaking.
He left the kitchen and went into his room. He returned quickly with something in his hands.
"Here, put these in your ears." He said handing me a pair of earbuds.
I stuck them in my ears and heard music playing. My eyes widen as a mix of different sounds created a melody.
I didn't know music could sound so good...all I knew were the dumb songs from school...this is different...
Aizawa kept putting groceries away as I stood there awe struck. Another flash of lightning, and dread flowed over my body as I waited for a loud crash.
But it never came. Maybe it did, but I couldn't hear it causing me to feel relief and amazement.
I felt a tap on my shoulder and turned to Aizawa who was making a pull out motion, I complained and took out an earbud.
"Why don't you go ahead and take a shower, pizza should be here pretty soon." He said, I nodded my head and thanked him for allowing me to listen to music.
I quickly left to go take a shower.
"Okay, time to put everything else away." I muttered to myself as I rubbed my tired eyes.

I was definitely much more tired today than usual.
Could it be the stress of having a kid? Nah, (y/n)'s a good kid, it's probably cos school will be starting soon.
I heard my phone ring and looked to see who it was, I didn't recognize the number so I hesitantly picked up.
"Hello?"
"Hey is this Shota Aizawa?"
It sounded like a teenager so it must of been the pizza place.
"Yes this is him." I answered.
"I'm really sorry, but due to the upcoming typhoon and weather conditions we're canceling all orders." The kid answered guilty.
"It's alright, I expected it to happen when we got the news so I went out and bought stuff to make pizza."
"Oh alright then, sorry for the trouble sir. Have a good night."
"You too, bye." I hung up.
Letting out a deep sigh I went and got stuff out to make pizza.
Pita bread, cheese, tomato sauce, pepperoni, ham, pineapple...am I missing anything?
I sighed and made a mental note that this was going to take a while.
Out of the corner of my eye I saw (y/n) was making her way into the living room.
My god she is quiet.
"The pizza place called and said they were canceling all orders, so I improvised." I explain as she walked over to the kitchen.
"That's okay." She said.
"So, how this works is you start by spreading the tomato sauce around the pita bread, like this." I say as I poured some sauce on the bread then spread it around evenly with a spoon.
After I was finished I gave the stuff to the (h/c) head and she copied me.
"Okay, now you put the cheese on top, then you can put on whatever toppings you'd like."
She put on her toppings and when I assumed she was finished, I grabbed the two pizzas and stuffed them in the oven.
"Great, now we wait." I said making my way over to the couch, (y/n) following behind.
"Alright, what should we watch while we wait?" I asked her, she looked at me and shrugged.
"Well last time we watched Big Hero Six, do you want to watch something similar or something different?"
"Uhm...I'm not sure." She said quietly.
I handed her the controller and told her to scroll through movies until she finds one that looks interesting.
"But...I don't know...what to choose?" She turned to look at me with the same dead eyes she's had since the day I met her.
"Just find something that catches your eye, like when you found Big Hero Six."
She looked back towards the TV and started to scroll through the movies.
"Is this one good?" She stopped on the movie Bolt.
"A lot of people enjoyed it yes."
". . .did you enjoy it?"
"My opinion doesn't matter. Just turn on whatever you want to watch kiddo."
She let out a soft hum and then kept scrolling through movies.
"What about this one?" She asked as she stopped on the movie Brave.
I just nodded my head and gave her a thumbs up. If I was going to be completely honest, I liked every Disney and Pixar movie there was to offer and I've seen pretty much all of them.
Though most of the sequels were really bad on Disney's part, but Pixar has some okay ones.
(Y/n) was debating on watching either Brave, or Bolt. Until she came across Tangled and she looked at me for approval.
"That movie is good." I stated and then she nodded and started the movie.
The small girl grabbed a blanket and wrapped herself in it, leaning against the arm rest as the movie started.
About ten minutes in the oven beeped letting me know that the pizza was done so I got up to take it out.
(Y/n) followed me into the kitchen even though I told her to wait in the living room and continue the movie.
"Okay, here's yours," I said handing her a plate.
"Thank you." She said quietly as she waited for me to grab mine.
Then we both went back to sit on the couch and played the movie. Her eyes never left the screen, she was very much drawn in.
I chuckled to myself everytime she gasped or grinned. Even if she wasn't smiling with her eyes.
I wish I could make you happy faster...it hurts to see a kid so emotionally hurt that she can't even smile completely.
The movie was coming to an end, and (y/n) was on the edge of her seat. Just as Eugene got to Rapunzel's tower, the power cut out.
Everything shut off, and we were left in a dark room.
"Was that...the end of the movie?" She asked quietly.
"No, the power cut out because of the storm." I explained.
There was silence after that. I didn't hear any sounds come from her as we sat in the dark for a little bit.
"Are you alright?" I asked.
. . .
There was no answer.
"Give me just a second," I say standing up and feeling my way towards the kitchen.
I felt around for the cabinets and opened them one by one looking for lanterns and flashlights.
When I finally found a flashlight, I turned it on and continued looking for more things to bring light.
I ended up finding candles, two camping lanterns and one more flashlight.
"(Y/n), come here please."
I heard small footsteps making their way over to me.
"Can you hold this for me?" I asked handing her the flashlight.
When she did I thanked her a started lighting the candles. Then I turned on the lanterns.
"This one can go in your room, and I'll put this one in the living room and kitchen area."
"What about your room?" She asked.
"I'll be fine with a flashlight."
Silence filled the room again as we stared at the flickering candles. I wasn't sure of what to do, or what to say.
"How does the movie we were watching end?" (Y/n) broke the silence.
I looked at the small girl in front of me with wide eyes. I wasn't expecting her to ask how it ends.
"Well I can't go and tell you that. You'll have to finish it and watch it for yourself."
She slumped her shoulders a bit and made a little humming sound as if she were upset. She couldn't finish the movie because of the power outage, and I needed to save my phone battery, so she'll have to wait to know what happens.
I thought for another minute about what we could do for the time being.
"I think I'm going to go to bed now." I heard her say.
"Oh? Okay, if you need anything just let me know alright?"
"Mhmm...goodnight." She walked away to her bedroom, taking the lantern with her.
"Goodnight."
Right, then I guess I'll turn in as well.
This will probably be a long couple of days.
