《Steam of Britain》Chapter 7: Roads vs Rails

Silvia was puffing through the countryside with a stopping express. She loved seeing people taking her picture with a description within a rail book. She loved the looks of children when she went through stations. (End Video) One day, when she was resting in a sighting, when she heard some chuffing, followed by a rant. "RAILWAYS ARE NO GOOD, TURN THEM INTO ROADS!! RAILWAYS ARE NO GOOD, TURN THEM INTO ROADS!! TEAR THEM UP!! TURN THEM INTO ROADS!!!" Silvia looked over to see a green steam roller rolling down the road.
"Hello," said Silvia, "I'm Silvia. Nice to meet you." The steam roller just scoffed. "Hmph, you're just scrap waiting to be cut up!" Silvia was shocked. "I'm sorry, what?" "Yeah, railways are outdated! You'd be more useful as a tin can!" The steam roller then rolled off, leaving a very steamed Silvia.
At King's Cross, she saw the steam roller again, helping make a road right next to the rails. "That steam roller!!" said Silvia. Just then, Trooper came up, and said, "Oh, you're already met George, huh? He's nothing but trouble."
George rolled down the tar mach well, and said, "Now that's a work of art." Alison came up, and said, "Oh, that's nice. Good to have a race with a car." "Well, the car would win by a long shot," said George, "I can't believe that they would make an engine so ugly." "WELL, I'D NEVER!!" said Alison, and she wheeshed steam at him. George just rolled his eyes.
That night in the round house, the engines all talked with George. "He's a disgrace to steam everywhere!!" said Mallard. "I can't believe that he thinks roads are the future!!" said Steve. "Railways and Roads have always worked together, and nothing will ever change that!" said Duchess. "I highly doubt he will start appreciating rails," said Bertram, "I feel he will just maybe try to stop the trains from running." "How is he gonna do that?" asked Alex sarcastically, "Sit in front of the platforms and stop the trains from leaving the station?" Unknown, George had heard the last comment. "That's not a bad idea," he said to himself.

The next morning, Max, Perry, Norvin and Rattler headed to get the trains ready. But when they got to the station, they saw that the junctions were all blocked. George sat at one of them, saying, "RAILWAYS ARE NO GOOD, TURN THEM INTO ROADS!! RAILWAYS ARE NO GOOD, TURN THEM INTO ROADS!!" The engines all whistled and honked their horns. They argued with George for some time. Soon, there was a loud horn. From the tunnel came Mack. "GEORGE!!!!" cried Max, "YOU NEED TO MOVE!!! MACK IS COMING WITH AN EXPRESS!!!!" "He's got breaks," said George, "he can stop." But Mack couldn't in time. He rammed into George, and onto the platform. George laid on his side, and said, "LOOK AT WHAT YOU DID, YOU OUT-DATED PIECE OF S-" "I'll have you know, that YOU are to blame George!" said the station master, "You deliberately blocked all the engines from entering the station, and you caused many passengers and your driver serious injuries! We will be suing the road company because of your actions, and we will come up with a fitting punishment for you." George looked at his roller, and said nothing more.
Soon, the railway board came and had some stern words for George, and might I had some very, colorful, comments. Soon, George was sent away in disgrace, and the station was worked to be cleaned and repaired. George was turned into a boiler for a house by the rails. He wasn't happy to see the rails still running. But he never learned, so he was sold to Sodor, but that's another story.

The Fate Eater
What might a man really do if he found himself reincarnated into a fantasy world as a dragon prince? How would he come to terms with his new nature, his larger-than-life family, the agendas of warring factions, and the destiny he never asked for? This is a story that intends to defy some isekai tropes, but play into others. It's mainly about exploring a rich hand-crafted world, full of its own history and mysteries. Its characters have their own lives and aspirations, and our protagonist is but a piece of the greater tapestry. This story is not about right and wrong, or good and evil. It's about a dragon-man being tested by fate, power, and time. It's about what it's like to live as an outsider who lost their home. But perhaps the most central theme is freedom. What does freedom really mean? What will it cost and how much might one be willing to pay for it? Does it even truly exist? Let's find out together.

Now Brenn must balance her wife’s delicate mental health, new motherhood, and her own complicated feelings while working with her Captain and their odd bunch of friends and allies to protect her tiny family from a small, but influential group within the Aesir government who will stop at nothing to take back Brenn’s wife and child. All the while, there are whispers of a greater and more ancient power coming to life. A power Brenn’s wife knows more about than she wants to let on. It’s a good thing Brenn is used to fighting. CW: Contains mildly graphic scenes of violence/death, topics of unwanted pregnancy/abortion, scientific experimentation on sapient beings, depression/suicide, grief, and trauma. The tone of this fiction is often dark and distinctly dystopian in lighter shades of Margaret Atwood, though where there is darkness there is always hope and light. On Hiatus Until September When the School Year Begins and Mom This story takes a considerable amount of time and mental energy to complete. I thought I had enough backlog and time to post it as a serial while COVID kept my child home from school, but it turns out while I can quickly write other pieces, I cannot produce the quality I need with this one at an acceptable rate. We'll resume in September when my days are much freer. Thank you for your patience and stay tuned for a different storytelling romp more suited for a serial platform in the meantime.
