Chapter fourteen.

'Are we going to celebrate like this every time we win?' Brady asked already stumbling over his words.

He, Blair and Hailey were standing in the kitchen finishing their round of shots.

'I don't know how you can do that,' Cade commented from the corner, with his trademark Red Bull can in his hand. 'Especially you girls, you're always so sick the next morning.'

'What so you're telling me you've never gotten drunk before?' Blair demanded, feeling much more confident around Cade now she had gotten her head around their little situation. As soon as she realized what it was they were doing she was able to try and stay more in control. Plus she just won them a volley ball game – she was over confident in every way.

'I didn't say that,' Cade answered smartly raising an eyebrow in her direction.

'So what's the story then?' Hailey piped up after she'd downed another shot.

Cade shrugged nonchalantly, 'No story.'

Blair studied his face closely, well as closely as one can do when they're feeling this tipsy. She thought she saw his facial muscles twitching slightly at the interrogation.

'What I'd like to know is where Blair here got the mad skills,' Cade smirked over at her changing the subject swiftly.

Blair couldn't help the laugh, 'what can I say, I'm good at sports with aiming, you can't argue with my ball skills.'

'Yeah her ball skills are ace,' Brady giggled. 'You should know Cade.'

An awkward silence fell over the small kitchen, well as silent as it can get with music blasting from the living room.

Hailey laughed, 'What's that supposed to mean?'

Blair was giving Brady some intense evil eyes while Cade joined Hailey in laughter, 'You're too funny Brady.'

Hailey seemed a little confused but thankfully dropped it.

'So anyway, I don't know about you guys but I'm dancing my ass off tonight,' Hailey smiled and made a bee line for the living room with Brady close behind her giving Blair a scared look as he left. He didn't particularly want to be murdered by her.

Blair looked up at Cade awkwardly, 'Er, so Brady saw us kissing earlier and knows.'

Cade smiled at her and didn't say anything.

Blair shuffled awkwardly on her feet and stared back at him, 'What?'

Cade bit his lip still smiling at her, 'You drive me crazy you know that?'

'I've heard that before,' Blair replied trying to sound confident, but his tall stance and steady gaze was unnerving her. In fact the kitchen was seeming way too small for the both of them.

She was even kind of annoyed at herself for feeling like this. She thought she was over the whole shaky legs/wanting to jump on Cade feelings.

'So...um...' She began and trailed off realizing she had nothing to say.

He chuckled and prompted her, 'Yeah?'

'I've got nothing,' she admitted wanting to smile but still very frozen in her spot.

Their trance like state was broken when a group of people stumbled into the kitchen releasing Blair from her spot and she stumbled backwards knocking her hip into the corner of the counter. She cried out in pain, both hands moving to hold her side where she'd hit it, applying some pressure to take away the stinging sensation. She was so preoccupied trying to hold in some tears that were threatening to escape she hadn't noticed Cade walking over to her and standing right in front of her. His hands went to her shoulders, soothingly rubbing them.

'Are you ok? What happened?' He asked and Blair glanced up at him surprised to see he was genuinely concerned.

'I bumped my side against the corner,' she replied softly still feeling the terrible pain in her side.

Cade smiled gently, 'Aw poor baby.'

Blair glared at him, 'Don't make fun of me, it really hurts!'

He chuckled, 'Where did you bump it? Show me...'

His hands were still rubbing her shoulders, their stomach's pressed up against each others and she could feel an intense tingling sensation down her legs. She couldn't even lean back to allow for some space between them.

His hands slid down from her shoulders, along her arms causing goose bumps to jump up excitedly down her body. 'Where is it?'

Blair reached down and lifted the side of her camisole up to her mid drift slowly, her gaze looking up, eye level with his chest. Cade stepped back ever so slightly and Blair almost sighed in relief.

The sigh died on her lips when his hand gently touched the large bruise forming on her side, she held in a gasp as he hooked his fingers around the belt loop in her jeans and pulled it down a few centimeters to see the whole bruise. His fingers were playing around lightly on her skin, leaving a tingling sensation around the area.

She very nearly lost it when he knelt down in front of her, glancing up at her with a wickedly suggestive grin and placed a feather light kiss on the bruised area.

'Kissed it better,' he murmured standing up and resting his hands on the band of her jeans.

Blair didn't even care if half the bloody school walked into the kitchen at this point as she leant forward both hands clutching his face, hair anything she could hold onto and kissing him. He let out a small groan as they pushed backward hitting the counter again, his hands slipping under her shirt drawing circles on her bare skin.

'Can't... do this...' She tried to get out but he wouldn't stop kissing her enough to finish the sentence.

Blair eventually pushed him off weakly.

'Here,' She finished the sentence blushing wildly.

Cade laughed and stepped back re adjusting his shirt. Thankfully the kids who had come into the kitchen earlier had left so they didn't have to worry about anyone else catching them.

'Meet you upstairs in ten.' He didn't ask her as he spun around and headed back into the party.

Blair was tempted to be annoyed at his cockiness but didn't bother pretending she actually cared. She went straight for the stairs only minor hating on herself for being so easy, but her whole skin was on fire from his touch and she knew she had to have him.

...

'Blair?'

Blair froze as she was exiting the bathroom the next morning, caught by Hailey.

She was wrapped in her towel after sneaking straight in from Cade's bedroom to the shower. She wondered if Hailey had noticed she didn't sleep in their bed last night? Then she mentally hit herself, of course Hailey would have noticed!

'I hope you don't hate my guts!' Hailey jumped in quickly before Blair could even think up an explanation why she didn't sleep with Hailey.

Blair froze, slightly confused.

'I know I'm a terrible friend, I suck so much,' Hailey continued mistaking Blair's silence for annoyance. 'I just wasn't even thinking, and told Jacob he could sleep over and we were so drunk, it just happened!'

'What happened?' Blair finally asked definitely confused.

'Jacob slept in my bed with me, so you had no where to sleep! I'm a horrible person!' Hailey practically wailed.

Realization dawned on her and Blair felt even worse. Here Hailey was, feeling terrible because she thought Blair was banished to the couch for the night. When in reality she was having sex secretly with Hailey's cousin. Talk about worst friend ever.

'No, seriously, it's fine Hails,' Blair protested awkwardly.

'I'll make it up to you, I promise,' Hailey babbled on. 'I'm spending too much time with Jake.'

'You're not, honestly it's fine,' Blair forced herself to smile while secretly feeling terrible. Maybe Blair needed to reassess what kind of friend she was being. Maybe it was time to tell Hailey what was going on?

Just then Cade appeared in the hallway, clad in a pair of boxers Blair was very familiar with, grunted at the girls and disappeared into the bathroom shutting the door firmly.

Hailey groaned, 'Bloody Cade, he's really starting to annoy me now with the bathroom thing! Could he take any longer, seriously!'

Blair coughed awkwardly.

'And last night he was so rude to everyone, he made an appearance for like five minutes and disappeared to his room the rest of the night. Antisocial much?' Hailey continued rolling her eyes.

Blair's face drained of colour when she realized she too, had disappeared into Cade's room for the whole night. Had anyone noticed her?

Hailey's face didn't give anything away so Blair assumed she was safe.

For now.
