Chapter fifteen.

The day was beautiful, the light pouring in through Hailey's bedroom window as Blair sat at the desk studying. The suns warmth was comforting on her back as she tried in vain to concentrate on the math problems before her. Instead all she could do was replay the last few weeks over and over in her head.

Meeting Cade first and thinking he was an absolute dickhead, whilst he was very good looking Blair pretty much hated him right off the bat. She desperately tried to remember exactly when it went from hate to this lust-type thing they were doing now. She decided it probably had something to do with the uncontrollable urge she had whenever she sees him to jump him...

Vague flashbacks of him at school ignoring her and teasing her at home made her think the mutual dislike for each other hadn't actually disappeared in the last few days. Perhaps nothing had changed at all? They were just having casual sex in between their extreme dislike for one another.

Blair frowned at that thought, it sounded bad when she put it that way. She really needed to discuss it with Hailey.

'Hey nerd,' Cade popped his head around Hailey's door.

Blair rolled her eyes in response, and that was the only response he would get when calling her immature names.

'Where's Hailey?' He continued when she didn't answer him.

Blair shrugged, 'I think she's at Jake's for tonight.'

'Well I guess it's just us for lunch then.'

Blair glanced over at the doorway slightly surprised but Cade had already left she could hear him thundering down the stairs.

'Lunch is ready, get your ass down here!' She heard him call from downstairs.

Blair froze with her pen poised in the air against her cheek, Cade had cooked her lunch? She hesitantly got up and walked downstairs not quite sure if it was a little joke by the usual sullen teenager.

She opened the kitchen door and spotted two place mats set at the counter top, cutlery, napkins, glasses and two plates of steaming vegetable soup and cheesy bread. Blair's mouth dropped open and she turned to Cade with an eyebrow raised.

He simply shrugged, 'I used to make this at home all the time. It's a secret recipe of mine that's amazing.'

Blair smiled despite herself, 'Modest aren't you.'

He winked, 'I can't help when I know I'm good at something.'

She couldn't help but feel the double meaning to his sentence and sat down at the table with a slight blush. This was awkward wasn't it? Her and Cade were having lunch together...alone...

It still would have been weird if Hailey was there because she didn't like Cade at all. She probably would have refused to sit down, or taken the lunch back upstairs.

Blair had a fleeting thought that she should have done that, what was she doing sitting down with him like this? What did this even mean?

'Relax, you look a little stressed,' Cade rolled his eyes at her. 'Its just soup I promise it's good.'

'Oh, no I wasn't...' Blair trailed off not bothering to explain, instead tucking in with probably too must gusto. She burnt her tongue and cried out.

Cade chuckled at her, 'You're kind of clumsy you know that? For someone with such great coordination in sports you suck at it in general life.'

'Oh thanks,' she retorted sculling down a glass of water. 'It's really nice,' she begrudgingly admitted. The soup was in fact amazing. The best thing her taste buds have ever come across and Blair was already planning having seconds before she'd finished the first bowl.

He smirked, 'I know. My mother taught it to me actually.'

That caught Blair's attention and she looked up surprised, this was definitely the first time Cade had ever offered up information about himself to her.

'Do you talk to her often since you got here?'

Cade shrugged, 'Yeah, we're pretty close. She's visiting soon actually.'

'Oh yeah?' Blair was curious now. 'Is she staying with us?'

Cade shrugged and tucked into his soup. 'Guess so. What's with the twenty questions?'

Blair flushed, 'Sorry.'

He paused with his spoon halfway to his mouth looking surprised, 'Did you just say sorry?' He chuckled. 'First time for everything hey.' Then he burst out laughing, 'In more ways than one.'

Blair rolled her eyes, 'You're a pig!'

'That's the Blair I know,' he winked and turned back to his lunch.

Blair felt herself sigh and wonder what she was going to do for the rest of the day. Hailey had definitely disappeared to Jacob's for the night, Brady had a huge race on tomorrow morning so he was having an early night. 'What are you doing tonight?'

Cade frowned at her, 'I'm not sure yet. Might go to Lacy's I guess...'

Blair wrinkled her nose in disgust, she couldn't even help it anymore. It was the standard response when Lacy was mentioned.

'She's having a party, it's not like I'm going to hers to have sex with her,' Cade rolled his eyes at her reaction. 'I don't know why I'm even explaining myself to you.'

'I didn't ask you to,' Blair defended herself annoyed. 'I don't care what you do with her or anyone else.'

'Oh but you do,' Cade smirked. 'Remember the other day at school? Or have you forgotten already and need a little refresher?'

Blair felt her face turn red at his suggestive tone, she didn't think he was referring to their fight outside the school but rather the intense make out session that followed it.

'You can sleep with whoever you like Cade, just make sure you don't come near me again if you do,' Blair retorted. 'That's all I meant.'

Cade looked up and caught her eye across the table momentarily, his eyes widened in surprise. He knew she was being serious; he just couldn't put his finger on the type of response he should give her.

'Why do you and Lacy clash so badly?'

Blair shrugged, 'It's really none of your business.'

Cade nodded, he respected privacy. He hated being grilled. Besides if he really cared he could just ask around school. 'What are you doing tonight? Hot date?'

Blair couldn't stope the smile that crept across her face at his question. The idea that she would have a hot date on a Saturday night was a little bit hilarious. 'No, not tonight.'

He looked a little amused at her, 'Why don't we hang out here then? We have the house to ourselves. Only seems fair to make use of it.'

...

The living room was eerily quiet in the still of the movie.

Blair shot a sideways glance at Cade who was staring at the screen absolutely enthralled. It wasn't really her kind of movie, but she had offered to let him pick for some unknown reason. She watched with bated breath as the main character approached the utterly deserted house in the middle of the woods. She knew she should have been bored, able to pick exactly what was coming next. Although she had to hand it to Cade, he'd definitely picked one of the more scary horror films she'd ever seen.

She clamped her hand over her mouth to stifle a scream and locked eyes immediately with Cade who was staring over at her in amusement.

'Didn't think you were one of those girls,' he commented wryly.

'One of what girls?' She whispered back her eyes unable to tear away from the scene unfolding.

'Those lame scaredy cats who squeal and jump in scary movies.'

Blair glared over at him and rolled her eyes

'Oh shut up and watch your movie,' she retorted honestly kind of glad for the distraction so she could look away from the film.

He smiled and turned back to the TV, the gap between them seemed large and spacious now that Blair thought about it. Every slight noise she heard made her wish she was sitting right next to him, and not on the complete other side of the couch.

'Don't do that,' Cade warned her.

'What?' Blair asked innocently, she didn't know what he was talking about and he seemed kind of annoyed.

'Act all scared and the picture of innocence,' he shook his head at her. 'I know you're not, and you're making me want to bloody comfort you.' He looked a bit disgusted with himself for saying it.

Blair couldn't help the laugh that escaped her mouth. The thought of Cade comforting her was actually hilarious. 'You going to give me a hug and a pat on the back and say everything's alright?'

Cade smirked, 'That among other things.'

He sounded so suggestive and Blair eyed him warily, trust Cade to make comforting sound dirty.

They both turned back to the movie, only watching it for a few minutes before Blair was jumping in her seat again.

Cade rolled his eyes at her, 'Come over here.' He patted the seat beside him. He was only a meter or so away but Blair eyed the space warily and shook her head.

'I'm fine.'

'Blair,' he warned catching her gaze in his.

She wasn't sure if it was the heat in his stare, or the eery music still playing in the background but Blair found herself sliding across the couch so she was sitting next to Cade. He moved his arm around the back of her seat, his hand playing on her shoulder almost soothingly.

Blair uncharacteristically found herself leaning into him.

'Don't get used to this.' He warned her.

'What? You being nice?'

He chuckled, 'Yes. Remember, we don't like each other.'

'Of course, how could I forget between all the sex we have,' she retorted sarcastically.

Cade grinned down at her surprised, 'Shut your smart mouth.'

'Shut up yourself, you know I...' Blair trailed off as Cade leant down and kissed her.

'Don't tell me to shut up,' he blinked carefully down at her, his finger trailing from her hairline down her cheek along her jaw.

Blair shivered under his touch, and opened her mouth to argue with him when suddenly the front door swung open and two figures stepped into the living room, the door clanging against the wall.

Blair felt a huge intake of breath and let out a scream before she could stop herself, practically throwing herself onto Cade's lap in horror. In hindsight she knew screaming out loud would only attract the intruders right to her but she couldn't help it after the movie they had watched.

'Blair! Woah calm down,' Hailey's scared voice called out from the front door. She reached out and switched on the hall light enveloping herself and Jacob in the light.

Blair felt herself visibly relax and immediately felt ridiculous.

'We interrupting something?' Jacob grinned wryly as he sat down opposite Blair and Cade eyeing the movie still playing on the screen.

Blair quickly stood up realizing how bad this must look, her practically sitting in Cade's lap.

'Not at all bro,' Cade responded easily ignoring the blushing Blair. 'I bet Blair couldn't sit through this movie without freaking out, and I was completely right.'

Blair glared at his cover story.

'So what was the bet?' Hailey asked Blair curiously. She was definitely surprised to find them actually hanging out together.

'What bet?' Blair asked quickly trying to sound normal and not totally flustered.

'The bet we had about you watching this movie...' Cade said slowly with an eyebrow raised at her.

'Oh right,' Blair said awkwardly. 'That bet.'

Now everyone was looking at her like she was an idiot.

'It was uh...' She trailed off desperately thinking.

'It was if she could sit through the whole movie without freaking out, she got to make out with me,' Cade explained sporting a cocky grin.

Hailey burst out laughing at this.

'She failed though, so I'm sorry Blair but you miss out.'

Hailey was nearly rolling on the floor laughing, 'I hardly think Blair would have agreed to that Cade but nice try.'

Blair looked over at Cade and boy, if looks could kill.
