"We are the champions!" I sing along with the rest of the team as we dance around the changing room, alcohol being spilt everywhere and confetti being thrown.

I come up behind Alex and wrap my arm around her neck, kissing the side of her head as we party with the team. She holds onto my arm and smiles up at me making me swoon right there and then.

"What's up?" Alex asks turning to face me

"Just thinking," I say holding onto her fingers and smiling at her

"anything you want to share," She asks looking at me concerned which just makes me smile.

"I need to ask you something actually," I say feeling a little nervous

"anything," She says looking me in the eyes

"I know I've already said this but I need to say it again, I really really like you Alex, more than any other person I've met and I don't want to wait any longer, the World Cups over and I've finally fallen back in love with soccer. So Alex Patricia Morgan will you be my girlfriend?" I ask extremely nervous for the reply I'm going to get

"I thought you'd never ask" Alex replies and pulls my face down to hers.

I kiss her again not caring about the room full of people but only about Alex Morgan, the woman who I've learnt to care and trust for, the woman who I know will always have my back and the woman who I've fallen in love with.

Not every story has a happy ending, but somehow, somewhere, I was given mine.
