《The red one | Sam U'ley》Chapter one

"Come on river, let go home," Charlie said as he ushered me into his cop card. I sat down without a word and shut the door myself.
Home....
A word I no longer use or think of. Not since the death of my mother and father. I had to watch them be murdered in front of my eyes. It's been two months since there death. I'd been living with my aunt Renee since, but they were traveling and I didn't like moving so my uncle Charlie took me in.
It didn't take long for us to get to forks. We arrived at his house. It was beautiful.
Wasn't too big or too small. It was the perfect size. I unloaded my once suit case and walked in.
My cousin, Bella. Was out with her boyfriend Edward so I didn't really have to interact with anyone. Not that I don't love Bella, I do. But I wasn't really in the mood for a conversation. Charlie showed me to the extra spare room they had and let me do my own thing.
The room was on the smaller side, but I didn't mind, I actually liked it. It made me feel safe; being in closed off spaces.
I unpacked my clothes and other things. I placed the only picture I had of my parents on the desk next to my bed and sat down, staring at it.
The day that picture was taken was a week before they were murdered. We had all gone on a picnic together in the woods and had an amazing time. I loved them with all my heart and it hurt so much to know they were dead and I couldn't do anything about it.
I sighed as I wiped the single tear that fell from my eye. I sat up and looked out the window that was in the room. The only extra room they had was in the attic so I have a very big window of the forest. It was beautiful. I grabbed my phone and jacket and walked downstairs and saw Charlie laying on his couch. I walked over to him and softly shook his shoulder. He looked up from the tv and to me. He gave me a small smile.

"I was wondering if it was okay for me to go to the store and get a few things for my room." I asked. Charlie gave me a look.
"River, your 18, you don't need to ask me to go places. Of course your welcome to go. You can take Bella's car she won't mind" he said. I nodded and gave a small smile as I gave him a small kiss on the cheek. I grabbed Bella's keys and got into her car. It wasn't exactly a beautiful car, but as long as it worked it was nice.
I drove over to the reservation because I had heard there was a beautiful plant shop there. It took about 20 minutes to get there. I parked and got out. I walked inside and it was, indeed beautiful. As I was gawking at the beautiful plants and flowers I didn't notice something tap my shoulder. I jumped and gasped and turned around only for the man to raise his hands up to show it was only him.
"Hey, sorry I didn't mean to scare you" he said. I let out a deep breath and looked at him. He had long black hair and was very tall compared to my shorter height.
"It's okay," I said as I tried to avoid eye contact. I really didn't like talking to people it made me feel like they were thinking the worst things about me.
"I just wanted to know if you were new here. I know everyone in forks and the reservation and I haven't seen you before." He said in one breath. I let out a small laugh at the way he rambled. "I'm Jacob by the way."
"Yeah, I'm new here. I just moved here to live with my uncle and cousin Bella." I said. He looked at me with a confused look.

"Bella, as in Bella Swan?" He asked. I nodded with a small smile.
"No way, I didn't know she had a cousin." He said with a smile. I could tell he liked her just by the way he looked when I said her name.
"Yeah well, I'm not interesting enough to be talked about," I said with a small laugh.
"Okay this might sound a bit weird, but I was wondering if you wanted to hangout and help me work on this car," he said. I nodded. I really liked helping people even if I didn't know how to.
"Sure, tomorrow sound good?" I asked. He nodded and waved bye as he left the store. I could tell me and him would be good friends. I grabbed a few plants that were very pretty and some followers and made my way back to Charlie's house.
When I got back I walked inside to see Bella and Charlie sitting together on the couch. I set the plants down and walked behind them. Bella turned around with a smile and gave me a hug. I hadn't seen her in years.
"River, oh my. You look beautiful." She said as she let me go and looked at me. I blushed a bit. I wasn't use to compliments. I looked down and couldn't help but notice a bandage on her arm. Maybe she cut herself on accident?
I thanked her and returned the compliment. She had gotten so much taller and beautiful. I said my good nights and headed up to my room with my plants. I placed them around the room and hung some of them up. It looked much more like a room for a person now. I sighed and laid down facing the window.
I grabbed the picture of my parents and looked at it as I started to cry. I missed them so much it hurt. I brought my hand up to my mother's face. She was beautiful. We looked so much alike according to my dad. I had her long dark brown hair, while I had my dads bright green eyes.
I sat the picture down and wiped my tears. I got up from my bed and looked outside. It was dark. Forks looked even more beautiful at night. I got up and walked downstairs and outside. I needed fresh air.
I put my shoes and jacket on and walked into the woods. Not too far. I stood motionless and looked around.
The trees here were beautiful. Leaves were sprawled out on the forest floor making the grass almost appear gone.
I lifted my hand to one of the large stumps and stilled. Nature did have a special place in my heart. Just thinking about it makes even a bit happy. I wish people would treat it better though; destroying it without a second thought.
I loved my hand moved my body back towards the house. Before I was able to take the step thought a sound of a twig snapping had me stop.
I slowly moved my head up to see nothing. It was probably an animal. I hurried back to the house and shut the door behind me, making sure to lock the door before walking upstairs.
