After a few minutes, our breathing evened out and Jasper raised his head. For the longest time we just stared at each other until he broke the silence.

"How did I get so lucky as to have a mate like you?" He asked.

"I think you got that wrong" I laughed. "How did I get so lucky as to have a mate like you?"

He gave me a questionable look, as if waiting for me to explain. I knew he wanted an answer and I was going to give him one.

"I'm surprised you haven't thrown me out by now. I'm just the weird albino freak who can shift." I said, slowly getting quieter at the end because of his growling. To be honest, his growling was a little freighting but also fascinating and a turn on.

"You're not an albino freak." He protested.

"See, that's what I mean! You say these things and it makes no sense! Why would you want someone like me?" I shot back. He closed his eyes for a split second before opening them again, but they looked different. His eyes were rimmed in black.

"Do not ever downgrade yourself! I don't want to hear you call yourself an albino freak and I sure as hell don't want you even thinking it! You are beautiful, intelligent and kind and most of all you are an angel, my angel. Do you understand?" he near shouted. I slowly nodded to show my understanding.

"Good." he whispered

"Your eyes, they were different." I breathed out. "Rimed in black. Why?" I felt his grip on me tighten just a little as I asked.

"I have an alter ego, the Major. He is my inner vampire. He comes out if I'm pissed, in danger or in a bad situation. Now that I found you, he will also come out if you're hurt, in danger or in a bad situation." he explained.

"Do all vampires have alter egos like you? I mean, is their inner vampire present like yours is?" I hesitantly asked.

"No. As far as I know, I'm the only one." he responded. "Even now your not afraid. You still don't think I'm a monster?"

"No" I answered. "Actually, I was wondering if I could meet him. The Major. Can I meet him?" His facial expression was priceless and full of disbelief.

"Your serious. You really want to meet the Major?" He asked.

"Yes, yes I do." I stated. I watched as he took a deep unneeded breath before closing his eyes.
