《Hatake Pride》Part XVI

~Kashin~
The next morning Shino Sensei had us outside for physical training, shuriken techniques specifically. I don't exactly know if he was trying to see how good our hand-eye coordination was, or trying whether or not we had the basic skills for this. He tried to explain to us that we were at the academy to learn, so it didn't matter that we messed up now, but the other kids in class were so excited that they cut him off by starting to throw shuriken. I looked from the shuriken in my hand to the target and then back at all the kids watching.
'Maybe I should cut my skill level again...' I think to myself, narrowing my eyes at the last layer of the target.
I brought my arm across my chest, twisting the shuriken before hurling it at the target.
'Uh!?' I stare at the shuriken that embedded itself squarely in the middle of the bullseye.
'Ok, then...' I pull six shuriken out and hold them between my fingers.
I take a breath, looking at the target before crossing my arms and closing my eyes, maybe if I don't aim I'll miss... I thrust my arms out, keeping my eyes closed before I heard mumbles and murmurs from the kids behind me.
'I guess I missed all of them then huh?' I open my eyes to look at the target but paused and gasped.
Every single shuriken hand embedded themselves in the bullseye all in a neat line.
"He's really good..." I heard Shikadai's voice.
'Damnit! Why can't I miss?' I grit my teeth at the target.
"Hey, Kashin?" I turn to look at Boruto standing behind me.
"Why'd you close your eyes?" He asked me.
I stared him dead in the eyes... the corner of my eyes catching the shocked looks set on Shikadai and Inojin's faces.
"He~ he closed his eyes?" Shikadai
"And still got all of them?" Inojin.

"Were you trying to miss?" Boruto added.
I stared at him, swallowing before speaking.
"I don't know what you're talking about," I told him before walking past and away.
I retrieved my shuriken, standing to the side as I watched the other kids try their hand at the sport. Shikadai and Inojin didn't do too badly themselves, but the next kid to do well was a boy named Metal Lee. He did this whole dragon dance stance before throwing his shuriken at the target, both landed in the bullseye so I won't judge, but it may be more efficient if he subtracted that little side dance.
I watched him ready himself to throw his next shuriken but once he realized that Shikadai, Inojin, and I were watching, his confidence in himself seemed to drop to below 10 and he threw the shuriken quite poorly. I tilted my head, not exactly sure what happened before shouting reached my ears and I turned to watch Boruto run up with a Demon Wind Shuriken in his hands.
'Eh? What's he doing?' I think.
"Demon Wind Shuriken... go!" And with that, he threw the shuriken toward the targets.
'Metal!' I suddenly remember looking back at the bob haired boy walking toward the targets.
"Metal!" Everyone paused to watch this whole thing unfold but I ran toward him.
He looked like he wanted to try and catch the shuriken but his face went pale again and I knew he'd pull back. I skidded to a stop next to him, successfully knocking him out of the way before the Demon Shuriken caught one of the straps on my clothing and pulled me with it as it hit the targets. The left side of my body hit the target along with the shuriken and together we knocked the target over before falling to the floor.
'Ow...' I breath sitting up and pushing the shuriken off me.
"Kashin!" Boruto, Shin-sensei, and the class rep ran up to me.

"Are you alright?" Shino-sensei asked me.
"Yeah, I think so..." I checked my body for injuries.
"Thank you for saving me..." Metal whispered from beside me.
"No it's ok... are you alright?" I asked the shy ninja.
He looked to the ground nodding.
"I'm sorry about that guys." Boruto apologized.
"Was this supposed to be another one of your pranks Boruto!?" Shino-sensei reprimanded Boruto.
"Where'd you even get that thing Boruto?" I ask standing and dusting myself off.
"I don't know... in a locker..." He answered.
"'A' locker... as in not yours?" I added.
He sweatdropped, and we all turned to face Iwabe as he ran to us complaining about Boruto using his Demon Wind Shuriken without his permission.
"All of you..." Shino-sensei grabbed our attention.
"Come to the teacher's office after class." He told us.
"Us too?" Shikadai asked referring to himself and Inojin.
"Why?" Inojin asked.
"It's called collective responsibility..." Shino-sensei added.
'Damn... Father's going to have my head for this...' I think to myself rubbing my forehead.
So, once we had reported to the teacher's office, Shino-sensei had given us an earful about messing around in class and how we were setting a bad example for our peers. I sighed.
'I try to save a kid from getting his head sliced off and I get stuck with the delinquents for punishment...' I think to myself.
"Do we have to go?" Metal asked Shino-sensei.
"You three will be in charge of supervision, making sure these four don't cause any more trouble," Sensei said.
'Supervision? Well... ok then...' I fold my arms.
So off the seven of us went toward the Great Stone faces, where multiple workers could be seen trying to repair the damage to Lord Naruto's face.
"Aww man, you can't be serious," Boruto whined.
"That's right, the one you slammed into with the train," Shikadai told Boruto.
One of the workers then approached us and told us what we needed to do, said we needed to be careful though, the rock needed great care. So we got started, chipping and chiseling away at the stone, as we tried to remold Lord Naruto's head. I looked at the broken rock around his headband then down at the hammer and chisel in my hand, looking around at my classmates I stealthily grew one of my chakra tails, sliding it along my back and through my sleeve before using it to cut away at the rock instead. It was much easier to control and worked much smoother than the utensils the others were using. I managed to get my part done smoothly without anyone noticing my tail before wiping my forehead free from sweat, retracting my appendage before grabbing my water bottle, and walking over to our class rep.
"Here," I say handing her the bottle.
"Thank you," She smiled, taking a sip.
"Sorry about getting you caught up in all this Sumire," I tell her.
"Oh it's ok really, I don't mind," She blushed but smiled.
"Hey Metal... Metal!!" I heard Shikadai exclaim.
I then heard a very worrying crack, feeling the platform we were standing on shake as cracks made their way all the way up Lord Naruto's face.
"Get down!" I pull Sumire into me and dive us both out of the way just as a landslide of rock falls onto the platform, breaking it and leaving a big hole in the mountain we just fixed.
"Awwww come on!" I heard Boruto complain.
"Kashin! Are you and the class rep ok up there?" He called.
"Yeah, we're fine," I say standing and walking to the edge of the platform, looking over the new damage.
'Haaaaa, great...' I sigh.
