"You guys kissed?" Youngmin pretended to faint, after listening to her friend's story about yesterday, "While you guys were on your shift? No way."

"No." Eunji shook her head in embarrassment. She actually wanted to keep everything that happened yesterday a secret, but she couldn't resist telling her closest friend. Especially since Youngmin was the one who organized the whole thing in the first place, "We did not, Youngmin."

Remembering yesterday's events, she couldn't help but feel her heart ache slightly.

"What?!" Her friend was more shocked than she was before, blinking her eyes rapidly, "But you said he grabbed your face like this and pulled you towards him like..this." Youngmin imitated the situation.

At least from how Eunji described it.

"Stop!" Eunji felt her cheeks turning red again as she tried to hide her face by putting it on top of the desk, "Not like that—"

"Then how?!" Youngmin started to become impatient, "I can't believe that you kissed someone earlier than me! And I'm in a relationship.."

"We. Did. Not. Kiss for god's sake!" Eunji repeated, her eyes already searching for the boy, "Jungwon! Come here for a sec."

The boy looked confused but didn't hesitate to listen to her as he approached the two.

"Tell Youngmin that we in fact did not kiss yesterday." Eunji looked at Jungwon with expectant eyes, massaging her temples in annoyance, "She doesn't believe me."

Jungwon on the other hand just glanced at Eunji in silence. His eyes screamed confusion and for some reason she noticed disappointment written all over his face.

"I didn't kiss her." He replied obediently, making Eunji nod before clearing her throat.

"See?"

"But I was just about to." Jungwon added, causing Youngmin's jaw to drop to the floor.

"Jungwon..." Eunji spoke with threat lacing her words as she glared at him, before standing up.

Quickly she grabbed his hand and dragged him outside the classroom.

"Why?" He asked, when he noticed the girl's rage.

"We both decided to not talk about yesterday's events." Eunji breathed out and looked into his eyes.

"You were the one mentioning it first."

"But why would you go into such details?!" She let out a groan.

flashback

The gap between them became smaller and smaller, but their racing hearts wouldn't slow down no matter what they did.

With the moon behind them and the night's coldness surrounding each of their frames, the atmosphere seemed almost too perfect to share their kiss together. Almost.

While Eunji felt his cold hand cool down her warm face, Jungwon could feel her warmth contrast with the coldness in his heart as he tried to calm his mind and recollect his thoughts. He failed.

That's when a thought crossed his mind, causing him to abruptly stop in his tracks, his eyes widening.

'

And the atmosphere was torn down in a snap.

Jungwon grew breathless as he grabbed the girl's shoulders, quickly pulling her into his embrace.

"I'm sorry..." He kept apologizing in a small whisper over and over again, while the girl in his arms was confused.

"Jungwon?" Eunji tried to pull away but this only caused him to tighten his hug around her.

"I-I shouldn't have done that to you, I'm sorry." His voice trembled, "I don't know what got into me.."

The girl's heart dropped.

"Jungwon, It's alright. Calm down." Eunji hesitantly hugged him back, feeling his body tense up at her touch, "I-It's okay."

It would have been a lie to say that Eunji wasn't disappointed. But right now, all she felt was concern for the boy in her arms.

"What happened?" Eunji whispered after a while, hoping that Jungwon had calmed down, "What...just happened..?"

When she attempted to break apart from the hug for a second time, he stopped her again, "Eunji, don't. I-I'm too ashamed to look at you right now."

But Eunji didn't listen. She gently pulled away from him and cupped his face with her hands, "Jungwon, I told you. It's okay."

"I-I never felt this way before." He confessed, looking down to avoid her eyes, "All..all of this. It's strange. I don't know how to handle it. I couldn't control what I was doing, I'm sorry."

"No, It's fine." Eunji sounded calm. The complete opposite of what was unfolding inside her, "It's not like I stopped you either.."

"I'm sorry." He apologized.

Again.

"For what?" Eunji tried to reassure him, "Nothing happened, Jungwon."

And she was right. Nothing happened.

Just something that could have almost happen.

Almost.

"What is going to happen to us?" The boy finally looked into her eyes.

Was their friendship ruined?

Because of his mistake and slip of action?

"Nothing." The girl smiled, her lips were stiff, "Nothing will change between us."

And she was right.

Nothing would ever change between the two of them.

Not even her feelings for him.

They would remain, no matter how hard she tried to resist them.

flashback end

"Jungwon, you don't get it. We wanted to go on as if nothing has happened." Eunji asserted, her eyes fixed on him.

She suddenly noticed how tired his eyes were. So dull. He must have gotten as little sleep as she had.

It was concerning her.

Did that mean yesterday's events were keeping him up at night the same way happening with her?

"You are right." Jungwon sighed, looking down shortly, before he put on a smile, "Let's go back and explain to Youngmin that nothing happened."

I went home with a heavy heart.

Me and Jungwon.

We almost kissed.

K-I-S-S-E-D.

I grabbed my pillow, screaming right into it to relieve everything that I've been holding back up until now.

Of course, I was aware of the fact that we decided to forget about it for now.

And of course, it did hurt me a little.

But there had to be reason why he reacted the way he did.

Knowing that Jungwon was the one who initiated the kiss meant that there was something.

My feelings for him weren't completely in vain.

"Why can't I get over you? Why?" I mumbled to myself, holding up the dress that I wore at the Fang-tastic Festival, before letting myself drop on my bed.

I knew that there was something burdening Jungwon.

Something that's been emotionally torturing him up until now. Maybe something that was holding him back from letting people come close to him.

And I've decided to find out what it is and get rid of it.

Because my biggest priority was now making him the happiest and most carefree person to ever walk on earth.

"And I will succeed no matter what!" I smiled widely, feeling my heart pound against my chest again after remembering what happened between us at the party.

Ah, these annoying butterflies.
