"Do you want to go to the cafeteria with me?" Eunji automatically turned around to the boy who was busy staring at the notes she wrote from today's lesson.
"Cafeteria?"
"Yup." The girl tilted her head, "Why? Never been to one before?"
"O-Of course..I just didn't expect you to ask me instead of Youngmin." Jungwon got slightly embarrassed, shaking his head. Eunji couldn't stop smiling when she noticed his ears turning slightly red.
"Get used to it then." The girl winked at him, while he on the other hand stared at her in surprise, "I will be asking you a lot more things from now on, so brace yourself."
Jungwon mumbled, "I'm starting to regret it..."
"One day in our friendship and you are already starting to piss me off." Eunji pretended to be angry and took his arm to drag him after her, "Let's go. We should hurry up before the queue is too long!"
_
"Abundance!!" Eunji hurrayed, hugging every food item she managed to buy, despite them almost being the last ones arriving at the cafeteria, "I'm going to devour all of it."
Stuffing her face with the milk bread she bought, she tilted her head at Jungwon.
They decided to go to "their" spot again, since it was the only place where they could freely talk without having to fear any eavesdroppers.
"What's wrong? You seem kinda out of it." Eunji narrowed her eyes slightly. The boy didn't get anything for himself, "Wait, don't tell me vampires don't eat..?"
Jungwon stayed quiet at first, turning to glance at her.
"They don't."
Her face fell, "Right...that makes sense."
Sighing, she continued to munch on her milk bread in silence.
Eunji always felt bad every time she was the only one eating and she expected them to eat every meal together from now on. How could she forget that vampires didn't eat human food? "I thought you forgot to buy yourself something, so I got you a sandwich...Nevermind then."

Noticing her gloomy expression, he hurriedly took the sandwich she bought in his hand, before biting right into it, "But..I do. I eat."
"Really?" Her eyes lit up again, "Is it good?!"
Jungwon smiled at the girl in front of him, chewing into the mixture of toast, lettuce and tomatoes and acting as if he enjoyed it, "I-It's delicious...yeah."
"Do you want another one?" Eunji smiled brightly and continued to eat happily herself.
"Let me finish this one first." He chuckled awkwardly, swallowing his first ever sandwich bite with a lot of effort.
"There's...something I wanted to ask you." The girl babbled as she was about to hurriedly take another bite.
That's when Jungwon put his hand on top of hers to stop the girl, catching her off guard completely.
"Eat slowly, Eunji. You are going to choke at this rate." He passed her a water bottle which she gladly took.
"Don't treat me like a child. I can manage." Eunji retorted stubbornly, feeling her cheeks warm up for the 10th time today, "What I wanted to say was— Can you read other people's minds?"
Jungwon had to stop himself from bursting out laughing, "W-What?!"
"I'm dead serious."
"No. Vampires can't read minds. At least we don't." He explained patiently, making her nod slowly.
"I'm glad you can't." She whispered to herself unconsciously as the boy looked at her curiously.
"Why..?"
"Forget about it." Eunji turned beet red before she quickly attempted to change the topic, "How did you manage to catch that?! I was whispering.."
"I am sitting right in front of you." He stated calmly, "But I do have pretty good hearing."
Eunji's eyes widened, "Does that mean...you can hear everything?"
"Not everything...But a lot."
"Can you hear what the teachers are talking about in the building right now?" The girl was fascinated and wasn't afraid of showing it, "Are they talking about my bad grades?"

Jungwon looked in the direction of the school building before he answered, "No."
"They are not badmouthing me?"
"No, I can't hear them."
Eunji groaned in disappointment, pushing the boy's shoulder, "Are you serious? I thought your hearing was good."
"It is." Jungwon couldn't help but laugh at the girl's dissatisfaction, "But I need a trigger for it to work. A word that catches my attention. If I actually heard everything at the same time, I would probably go insane."
"A trigger? Do you mean like your name?"
"For example." He nodded, looking at her impressed.
Or your name. Jungwon added in his head, but decided to keep it to himself.
"Woah, this is so interesting." The girl's eyes were practically sparkling, making the boy chuckle in amusement, "Tell me more about you. About your abilities."
Jungwon paused for a short moment as if he was thinking of how to keep it as short as possible, "All of my 5 senses have been amplified ever since I was 6...I'm pretty fast...and strong? Yeah, I think that's about it."
"What about blood?" Eunji went straight to the point, while he on the other hand was taken aback, "Do you...feel the urge to bite people?"
"If It was that bad, I don't think I would be here." Jungwon tried to play it off as a joke, but he became serious right after. "Ever since I was small I was trained to keep myself under control. At least to a certain point. My father always wanted to integrate me in the society of humans after he met my mother. After all I'm part human myself."
Eunji stayed quiet, letting every single information she just collected sink in.
"Of course there are times when human blood is needed." He continued, remembering the day she found out about the blood packs he carried with him, "You can see it as a drug. And we are the ones who are addicted."
(a/n: kids don't do drugs.)
"Does that mean you can get like rehab?"
"That's the only difference. There's no rehab. We will never be able to stop our thirst completely to the point where we can actually live without it." Jungwon's voice started to shake slightly, "There are a lot of alternatives. Like animal blood, so I try to avoid human blood as much as possible..."
The boy laughed it off, but the girl noticed how his stunning eyes turned sad, "But you know...sometimes having a father who owns a hospital comes in quite handy."
Eunji was now completely silent, making him feel unsure all of a sudden. He never was good at reading people's feelings. Whatever the girl was thinking right now, he had no idea what it was.
She even stopped eating her favourite milk bread! That's how immersed she was in the conversation.
Did she finally come back to her senses and see him as the monster he was?
For some reason he was scared.
"I would never bite a human, Eunji." Jungwon added, trying to reassure her, "I won't bite you."
Just when he was about to continue, he felt dizzy all of a sudden, followed by a sharp pain as if someone had punched him right in the gut.
"I-I'm sorry.." He spoke breathlessly, standing up shakily, "Uh..I have to leave." And the next moment he ran off, making her finally snap out of it.
"Wait, Jungwon! Your sandwich!" She yelled after him, when it suddenly struck her,
"Oh no."
