《Pranking The Bad Boy》Chapter 14.

I woke up to the sound of a soft snoring.

I yawned and tried to sit up but realised that someone had their arm draped around my waist and was holding me securely.

My thoughts trace back to yesterday. Ryder had come to my house soaking wet and cut. I let him shower and cleaned his cut. Then I told him to get some sleep and he refused until I said I'd lay down with him. And now here we were.

I focused on his stable breathing. His warm breath hit my cheek and I felt myself relax at his touch.

He looked so peaceful sleeping. As if there was not a worry in the world. He looked at ease and relaxed. His lips were lightly parted and his hair messily hanging over his forehead in a cute way. I had the sudden urge to brush it away.

I tried to stop myself. I still didn't know what to think about the whole Ashlin thing. I know I had to ask him sooner or later about it.

I discarded my thoughts and reached up my hand to softly brush his hair away from his eyes. I ran my fingertips over his heeling cheekbone and soft lips.

How I missed them on mine. I looked back up to his closed eyes so that I wouldn't think about how much I wanted to kiss him.

His eyes fluttered open and he yawned like a cute puppy.

"Morning," he muttered with a husky voice.

I felt my heart going crazy in my chest at the sound of his morning voice. It was really hot. I gulped and recomposed myself.

"Morning," I said softly.

I watched him snuggle one of my pillows while still keeping his arm around me. Then I remembered what I had planned today and tried to get out of his hold.

"No,stay," he mumbled, half-asleep again.

"Ryder..." I drifted off. My voice was filled with uncertainty.

He noticed and opened his eyes fully. He seemed more awake.

"What's wrong?"

I took a deep breath and licked my dry lips. I saw Ryder's eyes move down to them. No! Kennedy! You were not suppose to be turning him on right now!

I shook my head and smiled weakly at him. "Nevermind," I said while getting up and grabbing some clothes. "I'm going to shower in Dylan's room. You can shower here if you want to. Your clothes should be dry by now."

I saw Ryder watching me closely out of the corner of my eye so I left quickly and walked to Dylan's room. I stripped out of my clothes and turned on the shower, letting the hot water run down my body. I tried to let the water calm me and wash way my stress but it was only working very slightly.

I was nervous about addressing the topic. How would he react? What would happen with us? Is there even an us?

Once I finished showering I put on some shorts and a loose top. I walked back to my room to put my other clothes away. Ryder wasn't in my room and the bathroom door was open so I'm guessing he was already downstairs.

When I was walking down the stairs, the smell of pancakes drifted around the house. Immediately my stomach grumbled. I made my way into the kitchen and saw Ryder flipping a pancake by the stove.

Where did he get pancake mix?

I watched him intently before he turned around and saw me watching. I looked away and took a seat by the island.

"I didn't think you'd know how to cook," I told him honestly.

He chuckled and pushed a plate of perfect golden brown pancakes over to me.

"Why would that be?" he asked me curiously.

I shrugged and poured some syrup over my pancakes before taking a bite.

"I don't know. Maybe it's your dark brooding nature or the fact that you're a teenage boy."

"Well, there are a lot more things that you don't know about me."

"I know more than you think," I mumbled quietly and shoved a piece of pancake into my mouth.

"What?"

"Huh? Nothing. Nevermind," I said quickly and looked up at him. I put my empty plate in the dishwasher and was about to walk out of the kitchen when I felt a hand wrap around my wrist and hold me back.

"Kennedy, what's going on?"

I turned around to look at him and pried his hand off my wrist. "I already told you. Nothing is going on," I tried to convince him but I was doing a poor job.

I was usually a really good liar but somehow all my courage and boldness that I usually had was gone.

"Cut the crap, Kennedy. I can tell there's something bothering you. So you might as tell me," he reached up and held my cheek with his hand, running his thumb softly over my cheekbone.

I pulled away from his touch. I needed focus and his touch wasn't helping me concentrate.

"Fine," I said and crossed my arms over my chest.

He also kept a straight face and motioned for me to go on.

"What are we?" I asked him without emotion.

"Is that what this is about?" he chuckled.

"Answer," was all I said.

He took a deep breath before answering. "I don't know what we are. Of course I think you're very special. Already one of the most important people in my life." He gave me a smile after talking.

"Have you ever thought about us being more than friends?" I asked him. I tried to mask my emotion as best as I could but inside my heart was swelling up at the words he was saying.

"Of course I have."

"So you want to be with me?" I asked him with a raise of an eyebrow.

"I don't know what I want. Maybe I possibly do. I guess it would be nice."

I took a step forward and slapped his chest. "Then why would you kiss Ashlin?!" I yelled.

"What?" he asked me, confused as hell. "We only slept together before you came. We stopped after."

I scoffed. "It stopped?"

"Of course it did."

That got my blood boiling. Firstly, he was talking about how he might possibly want to be with me but goes ahead and kisses Ashlin and then he lies to me about it.

In other words, I was pissed.

"Bullshit!" I exploded. I hated it when people lied to me about big things like this. I didn't like it one bit. "I saw you at the mall! How you were swallowing each other's faces and making plans for the night!"

He looked at me with a stunned expression. Even I didn't expect myself to blow up like this. I usually never did.

Because you care about him, my conscious voiced.

I ignored it though and kept my ground.

Ryder opened his mouth to speak but I cut him off. "Save it. You'll just make up some lame excuse anyway."

I turned to leave but Ryder turned me back to him.

"Hold up. You can't start something like this and just walk away!"

"I started it?! You were the one making out with people! Not me!"

"Well I heard you made a friend too!"

Oh he did not just drag Luke into this.

"Exactly! A friend! Not someone who I was sticking my tongue down their throat! Unlike someone else here."

"That was just to get her to leave me alone! I knew that if I didn't give her something she'd never leave me alone!"

"Then why don't I believe you?!"

"Because you don't trust anybody!"

"Well how can I, when they say one thing but do something completely different?!"

"Why do you care? We're not even dating!"

"Because I could have sworn you wanted more than to be just friends!" I yelled in frustration.

"Even if I did, we aren't together. So I can do whatever the hell I want!"

"Well then I'm glad you told me soon enough!" I yelled.

He rolled his eyes and stormed out of the kitchen. I stay rooted in my spot and heard him open the door.

"Thanks for letting me stay," I heard him call before walking out of the house and closing the door.

I leaned against the table counter in exhaustion and rubbed my forehead.

What the hell just happened?

Of course he wouldn't want to be in a relationship with you, Kennedy. Or anybody in that matter. He was a player and there was very little you could do about it. He was stubborn and there was no way he was changing his ways any time soon.

"Good morning everyone! Great to see you all here and awake!" coach said.

It was Monday morning. Aka, the day we left for our soccer game. The rest of the weekend I was locked up in my room. I hadn't been crying. As a matter of fact I was angry. At myself and him. At me for thinking he actually wanted to be together and at him for well, I think you know.

Dylan tried to get me to tell him what happened but I didn't want to ruin his friendship with Ryder. I wasn't that much of a bitch.

We were all standing in front of a small traveling bus. We had stowed our bags already so we were only left with our backpacks and whatever we had packed in them.

I, myself, packed my phone, some headphones and a book. I also remembered to bring something to snack on and something to drink.

"Let's go on in and take a seat!" coach said and we filed into the bus.

I took a seat closer to the back and put on some music while putting on my headphones. I watched as almost all the guys took a seat separately. So almost everyone had two seats. Probably incase they felt like stretching their legs or sleeping.

Then I noticed Ryder got into the bus and took the seats that were across the isle from me. I tried my best to ignore him and kept my gaze locked at the front of the bus where our coach was standing.

"I hope everyone is comfortable and has everything they need because we'll be on here for the next six hours."

Groans came from the guys and me.

"Relax! We'll take one or two pit stops along the way."

That didn't really make it any better.

"Now, if everyone is ready let's roll!"

The bus driver turned on the engine and we started driving out of the school. I saw Isla through the window of a classroom watching us and I waved to her while giving her a smile.

She waved back and smiled at me.

I was going to miss here these next few days. I promised her I'd text or talk to her any chance I get so that she'll stay updated.

I had told her all about what happened on Saturday and she said that it was so unlike Ryder and something wasn't adding up. I was unsure myself. Because it did seem a bit weird.

I put my feet on the seat next to me and leaned against the window. I looked straight ahead and see Ryder in the same position. We locked gazes and stayed like that for a few seconds.

I gulped and looked down at my lap where my hands where laying. I was fiddling with the ring on my finger and tried to keep myself busy with something.

I leaned my head back against the window and closed my eyes. I let out a deep sigh.

Suddenly I felt my legs being picked up and then layed back down over someone's lap. My heart jumped, thinking that it was Ryder but when I opened my eyes I saw Connor sitting in front of me.

"Oh, hey," I said and took off my headphones.

"Wow. Don't you seem excited to see me," he teased.

"Sorry," I laughed. "I just thought you were someone el-- I mean, I'm still half asleep," I corrected myself. I noticed Ryder stiffen a little at my words.

"So what are you doing back here?" I said and directed my attention to Connor.

I could see Ryder subtly listening in on our conversation. Wether out of boredom, curiosity or something else I had no idea.

"The guys were getting annoying and so I thought I'd come to you," he explained.

"Well now that you're here, what now?"

"I don't know. Maybe just talk and get to know each other better," he suggested.

Ryder let out an angry breath and put on his headphones before crossing his arms over his chest and closing his eyes.

"Sure. Why not?"

Sorry that the update is so late! I've had a lot to do for school and got a little busy.

Hope you like the chapter!
