《Distraction》You didn't know this?

As you and Steve sit in the back of the police car, you couldn't help but let your mind plough through a million questions abs scenarios.
Murdered? MURDERED?! Who the hell would want to do such a thing, did they plant all the alcohol bottles to make it look like he did from an overdose? If that was the case, they must have known your father to knew what he drank. Did your father knew his life was ending? That was the worst thought that crossed your mind. In his last moments. What was happening? Was the person who did that there? Did your father say anything? Did he leave you any clues? Holy shit you hadn't even had the guts to go back into your damn house. You were too busy trying to sleep with Steve.
Fucking hell Daisy.
Steve could see you were in a struggling battle with your thoughts. He puts a hand over yours, the contact makes you jump before you turn to him, seeing his sympathetic expression just made you feel ten times worse. Not that you would tell him that.
You lean into his shoulder and he kisses the top of your head.
Once you get the station you're escorted into the room.
A few minutes later an officer comes into the room and you look at them with a plea for answers. What were they about to tell you?
"Daisy?" They say gently.
You nod.
"I'm officer Webber, is this another family member?" They point to Steve.
You look up at him and he looks down at you.
"Steve Rogers" He leans over to take the officers hand, giving it a firm shake.
Always so polite you thought. That was Steve for you.
"Would you like Mr Rogers present for this conversation Daisy?" The officer asks gently.

You nod again and Steve takes a seat next to you.
The officer sighs before taking the seat in-front of you.
Steve once again finding your hand. You squeeze it tight. Just to make sure he was actually there. He squeezes back, almost as if he knew he had too.
"We are sorry to inform you Daisy but during the autopsy on your father we found heavy amounts of alcohol running through his blood stream"
"He..he struggled with an alcohol addiction" You admit. Steve starts stroking your knuckles with his thumb.
"I understand. His liver was heavily damaged from it. However, we believe he was..."
"Murdered. The officers who escorted me said. But that's all they said"
The officer nods. "I apologise for this, but is there anyone you can think of who might have wanted to hurt your father?"
You think for not even a second before you shake your head "No. nobody. What even makes you so sure that this was a murder?"
"There were traces of chloroform in his nose hairs and under his finger nails. My first thought is that someone had put it over his face to make him unconscious and he fought back by clawing at the cloth or whatever they had used to put the chloroform on. Hence the tracing onset the nails"
You start to cry. Your poor father. The last words he ever said to you was 'Go' Your heart was failing with grief and loss.
Steve strokes your hair and tries to calm you. The officer gives you as much time as you need.
"I will do everything in my power to find out who did this Daisy. In the meantime, I need your permission to search your house"
You nod. "Of course, but you don't need my permission. Please just, find who did this"

"We do need your written consent. Your father had recently transferred all house documents over into your name. The house is yours Daisy. By law"
You look up at the officer puzzled and the officer frowns.
"You didn't know this?" He questions.
"N-no"
"Hmm okay, I'll look further into it. But if you could just sign this warrant"
You take the pen from officer Webber as your hands tremble. You manage to scribble the paper in a flustered scribble and hand the warrant back to him.
"Thankyou Daisy. We will head straight there"
"Can I come? I mean, I don't want to ruin anything but maybe I could help find something? Maybe something that was out of place or?"
"That's a great idea Daisy. Mr Rogers may also accompany you if you like"
You turn to Steve and you nod.
Steve kisses the top of your head and then wipes the tear that's running down your face.
"Thankyou officer" Steve speaks kindly.

Stairway to Heaven
Humans are complicated, awfully fragile beings, far too weak to survive amid the other extraterrestrials that lie dormant across the galaxies. Instead of physical altercations, they would rather engage in verbal abuse, breaking an individual's psyche as a hobby. They excel at deception and manipulation, far too interested in bringing their brothers and sisters down and reaching for the top of their self-made hierarchies. Beyond their questionable nature and moral compasses, they long to find meaning in their lives and put names to the feelings that drive each passing moment. They are insatiable—far too greedy for more knowledge and a supposed understanding of their lives. It's pitiable, really, the way they struggle to find themselves while ravaging their kind through petty wars and conflicts built off of misunderstanding. Humans are complicated, awfully fragile beings. They created words and languages to fill the holes that lived inside their souls, desperate for ways to find meaning in their incredibly short lifespans. They'll waste their entire lives trying to find their so-called passions and reasons for living, acting as if they truly rule the way their lives go, supposed "controllers of their own destiny." Yet, they cannot evade the inevitable visit from death, who stands next to them, ticking the seconds down until their demise.
