《Distraction》Coincidental.

You stand in front of your wardrobe and take a deep breath. You knew you would have to pull out one of the classic pin up dresses everyone wore. They were the complete opposite of your style, but you had to look prim and proper.
You shuffled through a few options until you find it. It was your mother's dress, black and white polka dot with a red belt to tie in your waist. You took a gulp and put it on, you matched it with red high heels and got to work on your hair. You curled it loosely so the waves fell just below your shoulders, you added light makeup but once again chose the signature crimson colour for your lips, as you pressed the lipstick to your lips you thought about Steve's thumb. How delicate he traced your lower lip. how your eyes locked in together.
Your throat starts to dry and your palms became sweaty. What the hell were you doing? You were about to go on a date with someone when you were already in love with your bestfriend. You couldn't do this. You had to tell him. You had to tell Steve. This was your chance. You couldn't keep it in any longer. You became frantic. You rushed yourself down the stairs, trying your best not to snap your ankles in the damn heels you had on. Stupid things. As you get to the bottom of your stairs you call out to your dad.
"Father I have to..."
"Hello flower"
You gasp. Howard was stood waiting for you. Your father next to him. You took a gulp and looked down a little. You were too late. He was already here.
"Hello Howard" You try and put on your best smile, for your fathers sake.

Howard steps towards you, revealing a beautiful bouquet of daisies. How Cliché and ironic of him. You took them and inhaled them, putting your best acting skills on show.
"They're beautiful, Thankyou"
"Not as beautiful as you flower" He says back with ease. You were shocked how confident Howard was in-front of your father. But your father was in awe of Howard. Laughing at every remark he said, standing straight to make himself seem taller, eventhough he was already 6ft 4, he was completely thrilled that Howard had come to him first to ask if it was acceptable to take you out. A 'true gentleman' You father called him.
You lay the flowers down and Howard held out his arm for you to take. You looked at your father and he nodded, a smile spread across his face and no drink in his hand. For the first time in years. He was sober for this moment. He wasn't even sober on Christmas, birthdays, graduation, but here he was. He had even shaved. All for a three minute conversation with Howard Stark, why couldn't he do that for you normally anyway?! You were HIS daughter! You tried your best not to show your devastation.
You linked your arms with Howard and he led you outside, of course he had a Rolls Royce phantom ready and waiting. It was the flashiest and most expensive car on the market. So he would obviously flaunt it, thinking it would impress you. I mean, of course as far as cars go it was immaculate and high end. But you'd rather be wooed by and intellectual conversation than wealth.
He opened the car door for you and you thanked him before sitting inside carefully. The smell of the leather exterior lingered and there was a wooden musky smell from Howard's cologne.

Howard made his way around the car, putting on his sunglasses in the process and a smirk curved his lips. Your dad stood at your front porch watching proudly. Making you feel even more nauseous than you already did.
You cannot stop thinking about Steve. You wanted to jump out of the car and run into his house. You felt so pressured you thought your head was going to explode.
Howard steps Inside the car and the door shutting makes you jump a little and Howard notices.
"Oh flower, do I make you nervous?" He asks in a soft tone with only a hint of excitement.
"N-no, no not at all" You shake your head and swallow. It wasn't him that made you nervous. It was how you were going to survive the next couple hours with him before you could get back to Steve. Back to the person you truly wanted. You kept wondering why you had put it off all these years. I guess this date had put things into perspective.
"Ready to go?" Howard asks you kindly.
You realise your thoughts are away with the clouds so you pull your self together and turn to face him.
"Ready" You smile back. Trying to act eagerly.
Howard pulls away and you wave at your father. Before you're completely away you see Steve and Bucky exit Steve's house and your face falls. Steve watches you with a blank expression on his face and Bucky puts a hand on his shoulder, trying to divert his attention.
It was that moment, the passing of the car, you with another man and Steve watching as you went. That made you both realised, hiding your feelings wasn't worth it anymore.
Steve watches as Daisy and Howard drives off. A knot forms in Steve's stomach and Bucky sighs.
"It's going to be okay pal, I know it will, you were meant to be with Daisy" Bucky exclaims. Trying to reassure him. Steve shakes his head.
"I still don't think we should interrupt there date Buck.."
"We aren't interrupting, we are simply going to the same place..it's coincidental" Bucky raises his eyebrows at Steve.
"Coincidental?" Steve couldn't help but laugh nervously at Bucky's attempts. Steve was grateful that Bucky was always looking after him.
"Now come on, we have to follow that damn car" Bucky sighs.
Steve and Bucky get into Bucky's pickup truck and head off.
Steve noticed Daisy's father outside on the porch. He looked different. He looked, happier. Steve took a breath and suddenly shouted out "STOP THE CAR!"
The tyres screeched and Bucky came to a sharp break just as you were getting out of the neighbourhood.
"What the hell?!" Bucky scowls at Steve.
"I can't...Buck we can't..." Steve starts to panic.
"Nope, no such thing as can't. We are doing this because I'll be dammed if I let your good guy morals fuck over your chance!"
"Hey! Language!" Steve frowns.
"Kiss my ass Steve! We're doing this!"
Bucky slams his foot back on the accelerator and continues to drive.
Steve takes a breath. He was really about to do this.
