《Living With My Bully》Ch.9 Not My Type of Plans For a Tuesday Afternoon

A/N: Quick little note to tell you that I had an idea for a Valentines Day special buttttt it may come a while late. Probably because I haven't been updating a lot and if I was, the Valentines Day special would be coming out on time. Maybe I won't make a special at all? But I'll figure it out. For now, enjoy this chapter! We're gonna meet a new character *wink* *wonk*
Terrence Mccoy(Tyler Posey):
"For tonight's homework-" I zone out of what my teacher was saying and into my own thoughts. What is life anymore? I just want to eat and watch Netflix all day. School, a fancy term for hell, is just awful! You're stressed out to the point where you feel like crap! Who invented such a thing? The teachers and work can all suck it! I'm just-
"Ms. Mitchell!" I hear my English teacher shout. "What?" I reply bluntly, without thinking. The whole class snickers at my careless response. "I would hope you're paying attention to the lesson but it appears not." She says, crossing her arms. "And? I don't see why that's so important." I say, mindlessly. Im too tired for this..that's what I get for staying up late..I just want to go to the Sullivan's house.
My English teacher scoffs. "Watch that tone, young lady! That is not how you speak to a teacher!" She exclaims. "Yeah, yeah, whatever," I yawn, "what time is it?" I ask her, rubbing my eyes. "Are you falling asleep in my class?" She asks me. "Who wouldn't? This class is boring as hell.." I mutter loud enough for her and the class to hear, "I don't want to be here." I add, ignoring the surprised looks in getting.
"Woooooo, go Iris!" I hear Lucas shout from across the room. I forgot we share this class at this time. I glance at him, shrugging, before looking back at the teacher who looked frustrated.
She's glaring at Lucas but then looks back at me. "So you don't want to be here, huh? Well, that's fine with me. Detention, after school." She announces. The class gasps and my eyes widen, my senses coming back to me. I hear Lucas clapping and cheering for me. "Would you like to join her, Mr.Brown?" She asks him. Lucas just shrugs, not caring.
My eyes are still wide when the English teacher looks back at me. "Why are you so surprised, Ms.Mitchell? You were the one who wanted to leave." She states. "I wanted to leave the school, not to a different room in the school.." I mumble. "Well, you didn't specify so this is what you get." She says and leaves it at that.
The bell rings, signaling its lunch time. I groan and put my things away in my book bag. As I'm walking out the door, Lucas joins me and walks beside me.
"I'm so proud of you Iris, I knew you had it in you!" He exclaims like a proud parent. I raise an eyebrow. "Why are you so proud?! I just got detention!" I exclaim, still in shock. "And? That was awesome! I can't believe you spoke back to the teacher!" Lucas adds, also shocked. "I can't believe it either..." I mumble to myself but Lucas hears me and notices the worry in my tone.
"Don't worry, you'll be fine. If you want, I'll get detention too, I don't want you to be uncomfortable in detention by yourself." Lucas tries to reassure me. I shake my head, "Thanks, but no thanks. I don't want you to get in more trouble than you normally do." I say, chuckling a bit. Lucas smiles, "Alrighty, but you might see me there anyway." Lucas says, chuckling and then waves a quick goodbye as he walks ahead to where Adam and Ross are.

I smile at the group. They're always together and although they don't seem like bad boys, they have their moments. Adam smiles and waves back. Ross stops talking about whatever he's talking about and simply waves back before continuing his conversation again. Typical Ross..
I head into the lunch room and walk over to my usual table. As I wait for Kayla, I start my homework from earlier classes. I forgot to get the English homework... I shrug. Whatever.
When I told Kayla about what happened in English, she acted the complete opposite of Lucas. She was more of a disappointed parent, she did not take the situation well. Lets just say I wont be hearing properly for a while....including a few other unlucky students that were nearby during the incident. I'm just glad I told Oliver that I couldn't ride home with him after school, hopefully he got my text.
***********************************
I take a deep breath and open the door to detention. Everyone in the room looks back at me, some of their eyes widens, others smirk. "Ah yes, Ms. Iris Mitchell, I heard about what happened today. I'm very surprised as well as disappointed." Mr. Doyle, the teacher in charge of detention, announced.
Someone behind me puts their arm around my shoulders, I relax in their grip when I hear who it is. "Lay off, Mr.D, its her first day." Lucas tells him, grinning. Hopefully my last day too.. Mr.Doyle sighs, "Hello again, Mr. Brown." Mr.Doyle greets, unamused. "Wow, you sound so happy to see me again." Lucas says sarcastically, walking in the room with me as his arm is still around my shoulders.
"You're in here almost every afternoon, it's not a surprise anymore." Mr. Doyle responds. Lucas removes his arm and sits in a seat on one side of the room, still eyeing Mr.Doyle at the same time. He gestures to me to sit in the seat next to him which I do. "Oh we all know, I'm your favorite." Lucas brags, still grinning. "Yeah, sure." Mr.Doyle replies sarcastically as he continues working on some papers.
I can't help but chuckle at their bickering. Lucas smiles at this and nudges me a bit to get my attention, I look over at him. "You can just do your homework or whatever, Mr. Doyle won't bother you, not when I'm around." Lucas reassures me, smiling. "Thanks, I guess I'll just do my homework." I say and pull out whatever homework I didn't finish at lunch. Lucas nods and goes on his phone.
Just as I reach question seven on my history homework, someone opens the door to detention. "Late again, Mr. Sullivan." Mr.Doyle says, catching my attention. My eyes widen and I look back to see Oliver take a seat behind Lucas. His eyes widen when he meets mine.
"Where have you been? I thought you left me with this shrimp over here." Lucas asks Oliver, pointing at me. I glare at Lucas, whacking his arm. "Sorry, it's a nickname." he apologizes, shrugging a bit.
Oliver ignores Lucas and I and glances down at my notebook that has a few small stickers on it of Mickey Mouse and other Disney characters. "So, you like Disney?" Oliver asks, raising an eyebrow. "Well-" "-She loves Disney, Kayla says it keeps her calm." Lucas interrupts me, laughing a bit. "Disney songs keep Iris calm." Lucas adds, snickering. I chuckle a bit at Lucas' joke at the end.
Before Oliver could say anything someone else walks in. I look over my shoulder to see him. Terrence Mccoy. My jaw drops. He got detention? No way. He walks up to Mr.Doyle and speaks with him. Oh, nevermind. I guess he needed something from him.

"Wow Iris, at least try and make it seem like you don't like him." Lucas suddenly snickers from behind me. My face flushes and I shake my head, looking back at him. "It's not like that." I say.
Not gonna lie. Terrence Mccoy is a cutie and he's sweet and all but I don't think he's right for me. He's popular too, being quarterback of the school's football team and captain of the algebra club. He's smart, good looking, kind, generous, and is a gentleman. I remember when I had a crush on him. Who wouldn't have a crush on him though?
"I admit he's cute and he can play well, but you got these two goods right in front of you." Lucas brags, gesturing to himself and Oliver. I shake my head, laughing a bit. "Right.." I trail off, giggling.
Lucas motions for me to look behind me and when I do, Terrence is staring at me. He must've heard me giggling. I wave shyly and smile, he smiles and waves back at me. "Go get some of that, Terrence!" Lucas shouts from behind me. My face flushes again and I quickly turn around and hit Lucas' arm again who is laughing hysterically. Glancing back at Terrence, his face is red and he avoids looking over here again.
Mr.Doyle rolls his eyes and stands up. "Students," everyone faces him, "I have to leave the room for a moment and deal with some buisness, I'll be back in ten to fifteen minutes. Don't go anywhere," Mr.Doyle announces, directing the last part to Oliver and Lucas. "You got it, Mr.D!" Lucas exclaims, saluting Mr. Doyle.
"It's Mr.Doyle..." we hear him mumble before leaving the room, Terrence following after. Before Terrence leaves the room, he waves goodbye to me and I don't have enough time to wave back before he's already out the door.
The talking in the room gets louder. I turn back to the guys, "That was weird, he directed that to you-" I stop talking when I see Lucas packing up all his stuff although there's still thirty minus left of detention. "Alright, lets go." Lucas says, standing up. "Wait, what?" I ask confused. "We're leaving. Don't worry, Oliver and I do it all the time." Lucas tells me, throwing his book bag over his shoulder. Now I understand what Mr.Doyle meant..
"I cant leave, that'll get me into more trouble." I reply. "If you want Lucas, you can go without me. I'll come over your place later." Oliver says. "You're gonna stay? With her?" Lucas repeats, gesturing to me. Oliver nods. Lucas sits back down, "Yeah, that's a bad idea, you'll rip each other apart." Lucas states. Oliver laughs a little, "Don't worry, we won't. If anything, I'll leave soon too." Oliver tries to bargain with Lucas.
Lucas glances back and forth between Oliver and I before getting up again. "Fine, but you better not hurt each other." Lucas gives in, sighing. Lucas leans closer to me, "If he hurts you, just tell me, then I'll deal with him personally." He whispers in my ear. I nod, chuckling. "Well, adiós mi amigos." Lucas says in a terrible Spanish accent and then jumps out the open window of the detention room.
I now see where Oliver gets it from. I look back at Oliver who looks at me. "So, what are you in for?" Oliver asks, making detention seem like prison. Well technically, it is. "I spoke back to the English teacher." I say, shrugging. Oliver nods, shrugging a bit also. "Eh, not bad. I remember those days, talking back to teachers." Oliver recalls, smiling at the thought.
I shake my head, smiling. "What about you? What are you in for?" I ask, cupping my head in my hand while leaning on my elbow. "The usual..."Oliver simply states, smirking proudly. Okay so either pranks, fights, or talking back..why don't they just suspend him? I nod, understanding.
"Why were you late to detention?" I ask as Oliver moves up and sits in the seat Lucas was sitting in last. "I just didn't want to come but I didn't want to leave Lucas." Oliver explains. "Aww bromance." I snicker. "Oh shut up, I told you before that I don't roll that way and besides, we've been friends since kindergarten." Oliver says, smiling at the memory. I smile, seeing Oliver like this, he actually looks happy.
Mr.Doyle walks back in the room. "Only a few more minutes, then you're all free to go." He announces then takes his seat in the front of the class. He scans the room and then sighs. "Mr.Brown has left once again..but Mr.Sullivan, you stayed?" Mr.Doyle questions, surprised that Oliver is still here. "Yes sir," Oliver replies. "And why is that?" Mr.Doyle asks, curious. Oliver just shrugs and takes out his earbuds and listens to music. Mr.Doyle glances at me and I quickly look away but I can still feel his gaze on me. Then he looks away.
***********************************
I pack up my things to leave then I get called up to the front by Mr. Doyle while everyone else leaves. I gulp nervously and walk up to his desk. "Is there a problem?" I ask, trying to not show how nervous I am. "No, I just wanted to say that I'm sorry for your loss. The school was informed after school on Friday of the incident." Mr.Doyle informs me. My eyes widen. Does that mean they know where I live now? Will Oliver be happy about that?
I relax when I realize he's waiting for some type of response. "Oh uh, I didn't know you were told." I respond, rubbing my arm nervously. "We're told for emergency reasons. I was going to ask, where you've been staying since then?" Mr.Doyle asks. "With relatives!" I shout quickly, "Ahem...with relatives.." I repeat, more calm and quiet. "Ah well, have a good rest of the day and hopefully you don't have to come here again." Mr.Doyle says. "No promises..." I mutter, hoping he didn't hear me and then I rush out of the room.
I walk out into the parking lot. Where did we park this morning? I look around until I hear a car honk. I look over to see a familiar black SUV and a grinning Oliver inside. He pulls the car over next to where I am and he leans over and opens the door for me. "Thanks," I say, hopping inside the car and closing the door behind me.
He begins driving back to his house. "What did Mr.D ask you?" Oliver asks, glancing at me but stays focused on the road. "He told me he was sorry for my loss.." I tell him. "Anything else?" Oliver asks. "He asked me who I was living with." I say. Oliver glances at me again. "Oh yeah? What'd you say?" Oliver asks, raising an eyebrow. "Well at first, I shouted 'with relatives' in his face and then repeated it so I didn't seem uneasy about the question.." I explain to Oliver, smiling at my stupidity. "You weirdo," Oliver chuckles, "Y'know, you could tell teachers where you live. They don't tell students anything..unless they're assholes." Oliver tells me.
I laugh and then my eyes widen. "Wait, you're saying I just lied to a teacher for now reason?!" I exclaim, looking at him. "So what?" He says, shrugging as if it's no big deal. "I just lied to a teacher, what do you mean 'so what'?!" I explain. Oliver doesn't reply, I sigh and look out the window.
"Well if it helps at all...I'm glad you kept your promise." Oliver tells me. I look back at Oliver surprised, then I smile. "I don't break promises." I stare truthfully and look out the window again. Unbeknownst to me, Oliver looks over at me and smiles.
Wait! If the whole school knew that I was going through a tough time right now, why did they give me detention?! They could've layed off for once! What the hell, that's unfair!
