《The Son Of Artemis book 3》Chapter 17

We walked in seeing the twelve occupied thrones of the Olympians, with Ares in a full body cast, forming a U around the hearth, where Hestia sat tending the hearth's fire, and Hades standing off to one side just brooding at the fact that he doesn't have a throne, and is effectively ousted by his own family. I know a few sympathize with him about it though...sorry off track ADHD.
"Welcome Heroes" Mom said welcoming us three.
However the Ophiotaurus deemed this was the perfect time to interject with a "mooo" drawing my attention to it off to the side in a water bubble by Grover.
Grover looked up then and saw us, "You made it" He bleated excitedly, rushing over to us. As he got closer, I noticed just how much nervousness he had, "Bessie and I made it! but you have to stop them. You have to convince them to not do it" He stuttered nervously.
"Do what" Thalia asked
Grover didn't get to respond as Poseidon seemingly processed everything, "My Son" he shouted, directed at me, " I thought you died long ago"
"You dare call me your son, Poseidon"I spat, which really seemed to confuse him for a moment.
"You are my son, Boy. You should treat me with the respect as any father should have"
"YOU ARE THE REASON MY BIRTH MOTHER IS DEAD. YOU ARE THE REASON I AM NEVER ABLE TO HEAR HER VOICE. YOU ARE THE ONE THAT SENT THAT CYCLOPS AFTER US TO KILL US" I shouted, "I'VE DISOWNED YOU LONG AGO"
Poseidon only seemed to get angrier with every word, before turning to Artemis, "YOU DARE TURN MY SON AGAINST ME HIS FATHER"
"You did that yourself, Poseidon" mom spat, saying Poseidon like how she usually says boy in an insulting manner.
"YOU WILL FACE MY WRATH FOR TURNING HIM AGAINST ME GODDESS" Poseidon yelled readying his trident but it wasn't long before he was pinned to his throne by two silver arrows and one gold one.
Zeus had seemingly got what he wanted by then as he summoned his bolt and shot a blast of lightning into the air silencing all. "ENOUGH" He shouted, "We will deal with this later. And Poseidon if you dare move against my daughter or grandson I will have no problem deeming you a traitor to Olympus" but the gods as usually started to argue with each other, about dealing with it now or later.
During this time I joined Hestia at the hearth with Grover, Thalia, and Annabeth. "Milady, how are you" I asked
"I would be better if my champion would stop using titles for me" Hestia scolded me lightly

"And as I have said before, to not use them for you would be to disrespectful of me"
Hestia sighed, "I know, but I wish you would comply to my wish about that"
"So you're my aunt Hestia" Thalia asked
"yes niece I am" Hestia answered
"I didn't expect you to look..." Thalia started but paused looking for words
"So young" Hestia supplied
"Yeah that"
"I prefer this age" Hestia said, "I am most comfortable this way" she added summoning a piece of toast handing it to Annabeth. "And you you need to eat lightly. So long with out food and drink is not good for the body" Hestia stated towards Annabeth.
Annabeth just slowly nodded and started nibbling on the toast.
"Heroes" Mom yelled, drawling us away from our conversation with Hestia.
"The council has been informed of your actions. They know of mount Orthys rising in the west, of Atlas's attempt at freedom, and of the gathering of Kronos's armies. We have elected to act" Mom informed us, however, there was mumblings of disagreement making me believe that not all the gods agreed on this.
"At Lord Zeus's command, my idiotic younger twin and I will hunt down the most powerful monsters, to strike them down before they can join the Titan's army. Lady Athena, shall check the various prisons of the Titans ensuring they have and will not escape. And Poseidon has been given permission to bring forth the seas wrath on the Princess Andromeda and sink it." Mom said
"and as for you my heroes..."mom said before turning her direction to the rest of the Olympians, "these demigods, and my absent lieutenant due to injure, have done a great service to Olympus. Would any deny that" she asked them, glaring specifically hard at Poseidon, while just glancing over the other gods.
"well I have to say sis, " Apollo started, " these kids did okay". He then cleared his throat...oh no
"Don't you dare speak that Haiku brother" Artemis said, and Apollo just pouted on his throne, muttering about how no one likes his poetry.
"Yes first class heroism indeed" Hermes stated, probably trying to stop mom and Apollo from fighting, they may have reduced their fighting but they are still siblings, "All in favor of not disintegrating them" he asked
The tentative hands of Demeter and Aphrodite went up, "Wait just a minute" Ares said from his body cast, "Those two are dangerous. It'd be much safer while we've got them here"
"Ares they are worthy heroes, we will not be blowing them to bits" Zeus stated, "They have done well"

"I am proud of my daughter as well father but there is a security risk" Athena stated
"MOTHER" Annabeth protested weakly, "how can you"
"It is unfortunate that my father Zeus, and the sea scum, decided to sir children. As we know children from the big three such as Thalia and Percy are dangerous" Athena stated
"And you would be willing to put the outcome of the great prophecy in the hands of Peter then, Athena" I questioned, "Aren't prophecies inevitable anyways once they are spoken. There's multiple counts in which attempts to prevent a prophecy has actually caused it to come true" I added
Athena hummed n thought, "It still doesn't change the fact of the danger of allowing you two to live. Meaning that Ares, as thick headed as he is has a point"
"Right" Ares proclaimed, "Wait a minute, Who are you calling"
"Oh please" Dionysius slurred, "Save the fighting for later"
"And you're protecting these punks"
"Am not" Dionysius protested, " Athena do you think it is safest to destroy them"
"I do not pass judgement. I only point out the risk. What we do is for the council to decide" Athena stated
That however, infuriated mom, "I will not have them punished" She stated angrily, " I will have our heroes who do us a great favor be reward rather than destroyed. If we destroy them we are no better than the Titans. If that is Olympian justice I will have none of it"
"Calm down sis" Apollo stated, however, Demeter, Hera, Zeus, and Hestia looked at him like he just made a grave mistake
"CALM DOWN" she questioned loudly, "MY ONLY CHILD'S LIFE IS ON THE LINE AND YOU TELL ME TO CALM DOWN" she finished shooting an arrow into Apollo's shoulder
"sorry sis" Apollo whimpered, "Please continue your righteous anger" he added with a small bit of sarcasm, to which mom just scoffed turning her back on him.
"I will have them rewarded" Mom stated, with barely controlled rage glaring at Athena.
"Well" Zeus said, " I suppose we could, but we can all agree that the monster must be destroyed" and a lot of heads nodded
"So you want to destroy Bessie the ophiotaurus" I asked
"You named the ophiotaurus bessie" Hera questioned
"yes" I stated, "but you can't destroy her she's innocent. And killing something innocent for something they might do, is just as wrong as Kronos eating Hestia"
"Hey" the other children of Kronos and Rhea, that were consumed, protested
"Let's be honest you all aren't as innocent as she is" I said, which got a lot of reluctant nods of agreement
Zeus however was being skeptical, "He knows only one of you need to sacrifice the beast's end trails, to gain the power to destroy us. Both of you turn sixteen in about 17 months. How can we trust you not to"
"Please sir you must trust them" Annabeth protested, "You must trust them"
"trust a hero" Zeus questioned, to which Thalia and I rolled our eyes. I may have told Thalia about Zeus liking to be overly dramatic.
"Annabeth is right" mom said, "We should have started preparing for the prophecy's completion once it was uttered. We must trust them to carryout the prophecy" Mom argued
The majority of the gods seemed to be in agreement, but Ares Dionysius and Poseidon were opposed to this. Zeus however, stopped all the arguments yet again, "The Ophiotaurus shall live here under heavy guard"
"brother" Poseidon protested
"I will not have this sort of bargaining power be held by you" Zeus stated, "Be happy I agreed to let the sea creature live"
Zeus was about to continue on, but I interrupted him, "Grandfather, since taking action has been mostly agreed on, wouldn't it be wise to train Thalia and myself, as we are presumed to be the one's of the prophecy, yourselves. And maybe a strategist and general or lieutenant to assist us in leading the demigods in the final battle as well so we can focus on fighting the titan lord" I proposed
"Father this is too dangerous" Athena stated, " What if they be influenced into turning against us"
"So it's of your opinion that under the strict eyes of, presumably, an Olympian training us that you all would be too blind to see any attempt of manipulation on us" I asked
"If we are blinded, even momentarily, that outcome could be unfavorable" Athena stated
I could see Zeus and the other's thinking the argument over, "And if we go with your position of none of us getting any training. Wouldn't leaving us unprepared to fight the titan lord be just as bad if not worse than him manipulating either of us" I asked, which seemed to stump Athena momentarily, as I didn't think she was planning on having to defend her view point.
"Both my point and yours are equally risky and share a bad outcome, " Athena admitted
"Let's just put the motion to a vote" Zeus stated
It ended up with Zeus, Hera, Demeter, Mom, Aphrodite, Apollo, Hephaestus, and Hermes in favor, and Poseidon, Athena, Ares, and Dionysius voting against"
"Motion passed and since we won't be killing these heroes, I imagine we shall honor them...let the triumph celebration begin" Zeus stated in his kingly manner making the matter final

The Tentacle of Fate
The tale of the Human Empire, the Demon Empire, and the Alliance of Beastmen is a tale as old as time itself. It was a tale of war, of love, of hatred -especial of the racial variety- and it was a tale that the races scattered across the globe thought would never end until a single species would reign supreme. Yet at times it seems that truth is stranger than fiction, they never expected the world would be united in the most unexpected of ways...

Homecoming | A Chronicles of Ascension Story
When Jethen was captured by slavers, his childhood was torn from him and left shattered half a world away. When he finds himself back home decades later, by methods he does not fully understand, he finds that the life he has lived has changed him far more than he knew. In a home he no longer knows. Places and people at the same time familiar and foreign, he must decide - stay and help with his parent's business, or return to the land that remade him and the family he made there. --------- Homecoming started as just a short story to break an episode of writers block. It has since morphed well beyond that into a novel in it's own right, and may well end up with a sequel. The writing of Homecoming became a bit of a self induced challenge to improve my initial, first brush, writing quality. Each chapter was written raw, given a once over read and edit, and then posted. In this way I am forcing myself to write better from the start. I do hope you enjoy the story and will leave a comment or review, and if you see an issue, feel free to let me know as well. I know it is not nearly perfect, and it will get a full and proper edit once I am done. Never hurts to fix things along the way though. As an additional note. The story has undergone a structural rework and has been reposted in an updated structure and sequence of chapters. If you have read this story already, I invite you to do so again in this new structure.
