《Chasing Rain ✓》Calm Before The Chaos

A kiss of yours on my wounds can heal it all up because all my body wants is affection.
-Rain
The car was making it's way to the graveyard.
Amber was sitting next to Damien looking outside the window. I told Amber that we are going to see her grandparents. She has been utterly quiet since then worrying me.
While Coco was sitting on mine. Damien was constantly glaring at my baby as if he has committed some sort of a sin.
"What is wrong with you Damien? It is a mere puppy.", I stated.
"I just hate these creatures with every fiber of my body.", Damien hissed.
Coco made a whining sound as I patted his coat. I looked down at him and passed him a goofy smiled.
Suddenly the car came to a stop. I looked outside the window there was some traffic.
Coco let go of a cute little bark as he stated wagging his tail. I removed my hand as he clumsily got down my lap and unfortunately went to Damien and started nudging on his right thigh.
"Piss of.", Damien groaned making coco to whimper.
I slapped his chest and glared at him which he return with his emotionless cold eyes. I picked up Coco and again placed him on my lap.
I started looking outside the window while petting him with my left hand. The traffic has cleared and we were back on to moving.
The graveyard in our town was quite far from my house so it will take sometime to reach there.
"Rain"
I heard Damien's voice but I didn't turn around. Call it childish but still. I had a feeling that there was a deeper reason to why Damien hated dogs but his rude behaviour towards a 1.25 lbs creature is vile.
"I am sorry angel.", Damien said softly and I finally turned around in his direction.
"You can't understand why I hate these creatures. But I will try for Amy and you.", Damien stated as he ran a hand through his already messed up hair.
"Then make me understand. I won't force you but if I can open up to you so can you. Even I won't judge you.", I stated.
"It is not about judging it is about running away. But I will tell it to you in due time.", Damien stated as I furrowed my eyebrow thinking how bad it could be?
But considering it was Damien we are taking about. Anything can happen.
The car again came to a stop. I looked at Damian confused.
"Flowers.", he said as he decided to pick up Amber and get down of the car.
"What flowers do they like?", Damien asked me.
"Mom liked lilies and dad liked what mom did.", I stated.
Damien nodded his head. Then he looked at Amber who was extremely quiet. Damien looked back at me and raised his eyebrow.
"Don't worry Amber they will love you.", I said.
"You are nervous.", Damien asked astonished.
Amber nodded her head.
"You have nothing to be worried about. If anyone should be worried then it should be me.", Damien said.
I sighed.
They were worried as if they were worried alive. But it pleased me seeing that they care about my parents. Alive or not.
Damien picked up Amber and made his way to flower stall. I closed my eyes. Putting in all power together to meet them after so long.
Will they be angry? I thought.
Obviously they will be. They have all the rights to be.

I looked outside the window to see Damien and Amber coming back with a bouquet of lilies in Amber's hands.
Damien placed in Amber first and then himself sat at the corner. may trying to stay away from Coco.
The car started as I got lost in my thoughts. The time when I couldn't understand the difference between life and death.
My five year old self was running around the house not wanting to be caught by my mom who was adamant that today I have to wear the cardigan grandma made for me.
"Love come back here. You need to change. Your grandma wanted you to wear this.", momma pleaded but I shook my head. Mirth shinning in them.
Momma huffed as she left the room with the cardigan on the bed.
It was a beautiful lavender shade cardigan. So soft and pretty. But there was no fun if I wore it that easily.
"Princess"
I heard dad's voice.
I looked up to see him standing at my room's. So mom sent her best soldier.
"Please wear it Rain. We need to go and meet your grandma.", Papa said softly.
"Has she woken up?", I asked.
Two months back he told me that grandma has gone to sleep forever but I don't understand how can someone sleep forever?
Daddy came close to me as he picked up the cardigan to dress me but I dodged him.
"Rain.", Daddy said sternly.
I giggled as I lifted my hands. He sighed as he dressed me up in the cardigan. I was already wearing my leggings so it wasn't difficult.
But it could have been if I wanted to make it. I looked at papa to see he was frowning. I used my hands soothen the lines on his forehead.
He sighed as he took my hands and kissed then. I closed the distance between us as I hugged.
He looked sad today.
Whenever I would be sad he would hug me and make me cookies but I couldn't make cookies so he needs to be satisfied with a hug.
He picked me up as we started making our way downstairs. I saw my mom with a bouquet of daisies in her hands.
"Daisy makes your day easy."
That is what grandma used to say.
Dad placed me insided the back of the car. While mom sat in the front with dad driving.
"I want to sit in front.", I huffed.
Mom chuckled as she picked me up and placed me on her lap. I moved a bit till the time I didn't find a comfortable position.
"Happy now marshmallow?", Daddy asked and I nodded my head passing him a grin.
Dad started the car and soon we reached a quiet place. There were no houses near it.
Dad opened our door as he picked me up while helping Mom down. I looked around curiously. I had never seen such place.
Soon we entered it and we stood in front of a particular stone. Something was engraved on it but I couldn't read it.
"Rain say hello to grandma.", dad stated and I looked at the huge stone in shock.
Grandma was sleeping below it!
Dad placed me down as I went near it. I felt tears gather in my eyes. She was sleeping out in cold. Won't she catch cold?
"Papa can't we take her home with us? It is cold here.", I argued.
"She can't come home with us.", dad stated as I shook my head.
I was adamant. I wanted to take her home with us.

"No she will come with us.", I cried as I ran out of the place covered with stones with people lying below it.
"Rain!", I heard dad's voice but I didn't stop.
"Rain"
I heard a voice. I looked around to see it was Damien. I was daydreaming. I took a deep breath though it was shaky.
"We have reached.", Damien stated.
I nodded my head as I heard a tiny bark. Coco was in Amber's lap but when did she take him from me?
"Rain if you don't want to do it then it is fine. We can go back home.", Damien stated but I shook my head.
I gripped the locket lying next to my chest. I can do it.
"I will meet them.", I stated.
We got down and made our way inside the cemetery. I knew where my parents were. They were buried next to each other.
We let Coco be in the car with the driver. Amber was in Damien's arm as I led the way with two bouquets of lilies in my hands. Soon we stood in front of two graves below a huge tree.
"Ma", I called out looking at her grave.
"Papa", I whispered softly looking at his grave.
"How do you both do?", I asked but as expected no reply. Maybe I wanted them to come back and say we were good, bad or as they felt. But I was only greeted by silence.
"I am sorry I never came to visit you but you know I talked to you each night. I was just scared to be here.", I stated.
A soft breeze blew as if they were saying it was fine. I smiled to myself. A tear slipped down my eye.
"I never wanted you guys to leave me. Ma I wanted you help me sneak out for a party and papa at least for you to walk me down the aisle. Was it too much to ask for?", I questioned.
Another breeze blew urging me to continue.
"I am not mad at you both nor am I sad. I am in a worst state; I am lost. Papa you always showed me the path when I was lost. You use to say that rather than finding a door find a window. Because the door leads you the certain while the window to the uncertain.", I stated as more tears were falling down.
"You know what; I have become just like my name, always crying.", I stated with a fake chuckle.
"I really miss you guys.", I said while placing the bouquets of lilies on there graves.
I heard a clap from the back. I completely forgot Damien and Amber were also there.
"Damien place Amber down.", I stated and Damien immediately put her down.
I held Amber's hand as I introduced her to her nana and nanu. She enthusiastically waved at them.
Another sweet breeze blew.
"Do you feel the breeze Amber?", I asked her and she nodded her head.
"Nanu and nana are saying hello to you and giving their blessings.", I said.
She nodded her head as I kissed her forehead.
"Do I get an introduction?", Damien asked from the back a bit nervous.
I chuckled as I signalled him to come forward.
"Mom-dad, this is Damien. Amber's father.", I stated and a strong wind blew.
Reprimanding him.
"I know he had done a few things bad to me in the past but trust me he is not that bad.", I stated.
I heard Damien sigh.
"I know sir and ma'am I ain't the best man but I am trying. I know I should have never slapped her but what she said hit a very deep cord. I know how much I apologize, it won't be enough but I am trying. I promise you I will never mistreat her again. Everyone deserves a second chance so I hope you can give it to me.", Damien said sincerely.
It looked like he was talking to real people and not to those who were no more.
I don't know why but his behaviour made me respect him.
I couldn't stop myself as I placed a kiss below his jaw. I wanted to plant a kiss on his cheek but because of the height difference even on my toes I just reached the bottom of his jaw.
He looked at me with his eyes wide but I just passed him a smile.
"I think it is time for us to leave.", I stated.
Damien nodded as he picked up Amber.
"Go and sit in the car and I will be there in a moment.", I said. Damien looked unsure but still agreed.
Once they were out of view, I bent down.
"You both always used to sing lullaby for me so that I sleep peacefully. So today I will sing one for you that you both sleep peacefully.
I sang the lullaby in a broken tone as a few tears slipped here and there.
Once I was done I calmed down myself and wiped my tears. I took twenty deep breath and left the cemetery.
I felt much lighter today. Like a big burden was taken down my shoulder.
I saw Damien standing outside the car while Amber was inside with Coco in her arms.
Damien let me get in first as he sat inside the car after me.
"I have got all the arrangements for Coco made in Amy's room.", Damien stated as I smiled at him.
No one talked except for Coco on way back home.
Soon we reached the mansion. It felt like it took more time to reach the cemetery than back home.
We entered the house as Coco started running inside the house. He is such a friendly dog. Amber ran behind him as both of them started playing.
I was exhausted so I excused myself as I made my way to my room. I entered my room to see it was pitch dark. It was just evening and I never draw the blinds.
But I let it slip.
I made my way to my closet.
Suddenly the lights turned on. I turned around thinking it was Damien.
I turned around to see it was stranger with his gun pointed in my direction. I froze in my place.
He had a vile look in his eyes that screamed vengeance. But what have I done wrong?
"Good bye", he stated. His accent thick.
A scream left my mouth as a gun shot rang in the room. I closed my eyes waiting for the impact but it never came.
I opened my eyes to see the man who was trying to shot me was lying on the floor with blood oozing out from the back of his head.
I looked up to see Damien with a gun. He was breathing heavily.
My head spun with the only thought in my mind,
Damien is a murderer.

The Forgotten Hero
Long ago, in the world of Thyne, the Alliance of the Free Races, a name they had given themselves, summoned a hundred humans from another dimension. Praised as heroes by the people, they rejoiced that they had been able to acquire pure, mana deficient humans that wanted to aid them in their time of need, ignoring the black, archaic slave collars around their necks or the depressed, almost hate-filled expressions that they received when interacting with them. After Ten years of bloody war, the dark races were pushed back deep into their territories. Both sides were near breaking point and desperate to end the war once and for all. In a bargain, the twelve surviving heroes launched a high-risk mission, utilising advanced tactics from their home world to kill the Demon Lord. In exchange, they would be sent home, along with the magically preserved corpses of their comrades, though in truth, they knew that even if they returned, they would never be the same. Legends say that, upon ambushing the Demon Lord in his castle, they finally understood the plight of the world, and in the last act of heroism, sacrificed their lives, sealing him in an eternal prison so his essence would not be able to create another. With the loss of the Demon Lord, and no chance for another to be born, the dark races quickly surrendered and the free races celebrated, honouring the noble sacrifice of the heroes before quickly forgetting about them as they returned to their everyday lives. However, legends are rarely truthful, embellished by the victors in order to earn praise as well as hide the less desirable aspects of their deeds. Trapped in the Demon Lord's throne room inside the Demonic Palace, which even taking a single step on its desecrated grounds is punished by death, two figures remain motionless. They had long run out of insults and threats to trade and now they waited. For what, not even the Gods knew.
