《Unexpected Arranged Marriage》Part 8

"No, wait," Jin suddenly said. "I'm sorry, I didn't mean to be rude," he added with an apology.
"Wow, you're really stressed out," I chuckled, looking at the almost helpless looking guy. "Only because I have to make the Jjigae again," he complained with exasperation while pointing at the pot on the stove.
"Why?" I frowned as I walked towards it. I stretched my neck to see how the broth actually looked like. moonwritesfics
"It seemed like how it's supposed to be," I stated my observation as I raised one eyebrow up at him.
"Oh... The look is not the problem," he shook his head as he ran his fingers through his hair. "Then?" I asked while knitting my eyebrows.
"I told Irene to put some sugar in it..." he started.
"But she put salt instead?" I took a guess which made Jin's eyes go wide. "How did you know?" his mouth went agape. "Did she tell you?" He asked but I shook my head.
"Let's just say it was just really close to home," I said. "And I'd actually get reminded of it every now and then too," I added, which made him let out an airy smile. moonwritesfics
"But what frustrated me just now was that I had reminded her to check whether it's salt or sugar before putting it in the pot," he massaged his temples while inhaling a deep breath.
"Umm... I know that you might not agree with me on this, but, I seriously think that you should just cut her some slack," I suggested and the guy looked at me with an undefined expression. "She did try to help you, you know," I pointed out, which made his shoulder drop at my statement.

"Yeah... Maybe I was a little harsh on her just now," he gave in. "A little?! She came into the dining room practically terrified!" I exclaimed with a playful tone but Jin was shocked by the news. "She was?" he asked and I nodded.
"And if it helps... Your brother even said that you're a monster when it comes to cooking too," I added with a giggle. "That's not helping," he said with an unamused look which made me laugh.
"Well, whatever it is, you can settle that with them later. For now, I'll be your assistant," I confidently stated. moonwritesfics
"Really? But you barely know the ingredients though?" he smirked, gaining an unbothered expression from me. "Just give me things to cut up..." I said with much annoyance. He still had that smirk plastered on his face while he passed me a cutting board.
"And... shut up!" I rolled my eyes which made him chortle.
He laid out all of the things that needed to be sliced and diced. I started immediately since he already lost some time due to the unwanted error before.
We started to talk and I must admit, it was just like the first time when I met him. The conversation flowed on smoothly with no awkward silences whatsoever.
"So how long since you know you liked cooking?" I asked him while I was busy chopping the green onions. "Since forever!" he admitted while he was busy washing up some vegetables at the sink. moonwritesfics
"But my friends at school made fun of me when I said my hobby was cooking. Even some of my relatives mocked me as well. They said cooking is for girls," he revealed with a mimicking voice. I could tell that those words affected him quite a lot.

"The only ones that accepted it were my parents, Tae, and a girl I met when I was in primary school," he suddenly said out of nowhere. "Ooooh? Who's the girl?" I playfully pointed out but I was still focused on carrying out my task.
"I don't know her. I think she was my mom's friend's daughter?" Jin said, trying to call back his memory. "She told me that she would love a guy who can cook," Jin chuckled. "You know why?" Jin asked and I shifted my sight to him.
"Why? So that she wouldn't have to?" I took a wild guess with a grin. "Yes! That's exactly what she said!" he exclaimed with clear excitement. My jaw suddenly dropped as something just struck me. moonwritesfics
"What? Surprised that you guessed it right?" he chuckled. "Yeah! Like that was so random," I pointed out rather nervously. moonwritesfics
'He was that boy?!' I screamed in my head. All those memories suddenly came gushing back into my mind.

"Why us?" Still staring at the unusually stationary fire of the candle he was holding, Agung voiced the questions in our mind. "Out of 2 million people living in this city, why are we the chosen ones?" As if on cue, the eerie laughter of children could be heard above us. Holding our own candle tightly, we resolved to ignore them and continued our discussion. It was a matter of life or death after all. More than half of the initial participants had fallen and the building became more crowded as the result. There were now more ghosts than the living and each step was filled with danger from the unknown. Either we solved all the questions now or we would become another addition to the ghost camp. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- There was one thing Novita found out after she accepted an invitation to a suspicious event from a seemingly legal company. Crowded didn't exactly mean safe. As more and more variables were added to the dangerous ritual, the higher the risk of death.
