《Loved Like a Psycho》25: Memories

Siddharth woke up with a crazy hangover, his head was still spinning, he was in the same clothes, all messed up. Wis dress was dirty while his body ached, his forehead had a throbbing pain. The fresh wounds were covered with a bandage, maybe Bhavesh did that.
He got up with a heavy head, he went inside the washroom, he took a long bath, he stood in the shower remembering every memorable moment either bad or good, his tears leaked and mixed with the shower water. He dressed up, he had planned every bit of today. He will somehow manage to hug his Angel for the last time, he will meet his friends and leave for his mother.
He went out and acted as per his plan, he joined the gang, he wasn't that cold now, his weird behaviour made them worried. He hugged each and everyone of them. He hugged Ritika the longest which had her worried the most. He said sorry to them. Then started his mission to hug his angel for the last time. He had to hug her for last time. Keep her in his embrace for last time, feel her breathing and inhale her scent for the last time.
Avneet was walking through the corridor which led to the library, it was mostly empty and so it was at that time. Siddharth took the advantage and held Avneet from back in a wrap after he covered her eyes, he took her to a empty room it was so dark that no one could recognize the other person. He hugged her tightly the last time, burying his head in crook of her neck. The last time a stroke of peace hit him, he felt like the happiest person alive in that hug. Avneet was trying hard to get out of that hug.
"Who the hell are you?" She yelled "Leave me before I kick you where the sun doesn't shine" She raged she was trying heart and soul to get out of that grip.
He left her, he felt pangs in his heart, he just separated the heart out of him. He ran leaving her that way, she was still confused but the hug was known for her, it was that familiar protective and loving embrace, she immediately recognized it. It was Siddharth's but why would he hug her when last night he was with another girl. Only answer was with Siddharth so she ran. She ran through the corridors after him where only sounds were of their shoes stomping and them getting out of breath, they were panting and sweating.
Siddharth reached in the middle of campus where the crowd was making it difficult for him to run away from her he turned and found a sprinting figure of Avneet coming towards him. He gave up and stopped facing her.
"STOP" She screamed ordered "Stop this nonsense right now" She raged at him "What is wrong with you Siddharth?" She asked as she panted and gasped for breath.
"What?" He asked somehow controlling the emotions left inside.
"I Want an answer Siddharth, an answer to this behaviour" She yelled
"What answer Avneet ?" He added with a raise in his voice "What do you want me to say?"
"I want you to explain this behavior. Why are you being so arrogant and rude when I know that you're not. Why the hell are you trying to be this person which doesn't even exist in you. Why are you trying so hard to make me hate you? YES I KNOW YOU'RE FAKING YOU STAGED EVERYTHING. I know this is not the real Siddharth I know the real Siddharth. It's not this psycho one. It's not this person who beats up people, plays girls or is arrogant" She ranted with tears in her eyes, almost the whole college gathered there, it was probably the biggest fight they ever witnessed in this college with two people scoffing and yelling and obviously Siddharth being the notorious guy and their relationship being the most sizzling topic made it more watch worthy. People were murmuring and they had their phones out.

"This is me" He said opening his arms gesturing towards himself. Avneet walked closer to him. His heart beat picked pace, he backed away but stopped.
"No you're not and I want to know why are you doing this, why? Why are you keeping me hanging IT HURTS TO SEE YOU LIKE THIS" She screamed punching his chest. Siddharth simply stared at floor with his hands buried deep in his pocket, he kept gritting his teeth.
"Why? You answer me Avneet why can't you see how much i love you how much I want you to be in my life" He finally burst out.
"What?" Avneet was startled. The spectator fell silent.
"Why can't you love me a pinch of what I do and if you can't love me why do you want me to live? why do you want me to stay alive when you're snatching the reason I wake up every morning, from me" A single tear fell from his eye "Why can't you just hate me when you can't love me? why cant you just stop caring and let me die, you only have to give me one reason to live. One reason is all I ask for Avneet" He ranted desperately, tears streamed down his cheeks.
"Wh...a.....hat ......do yo....you mean ?" she asked stammering a little..
"I know you're leaving me, I know its just you're game, its just your bloody treatment" Siddharth yelled, it echoed throughout the college "I have heard your conversation with Jannat, I know you will leave me once I am cured" He spat shocking not just the two groups but the whole college, there were murmers and talks and frowns. Bhaveshs face was pale, Jannat was death shocked. Everyone pocketed their phones. They didn't want to record this anymore, this wasn't just any quarrel. It was a question of Love.
"You... Siddharth you deserve someone better who can love you that's why" She explained in a shaken voice. Siddharth scoffed and smirked coldly.
"I don't want that someone else! You know what? I have lived alone my entire life. I have been through shit, I was used to that behaviour until you decided to enter my life and make me feel special when nobody else was ready to do that. And now that I have come to know that this special treatment was a part of my cure from psychosis I'M BROKEN, YOU BROKE ME AVNEET, YOU BROKE ME. I could have lived with being treated like shit" He chuckled humorlessly "Oh god I don't even know if I want to thank God that you entered my life or curse myself for falling in love with you" He said holding his head. Everyone gasped at his words. Avneet stared at him while he composed himself, he turned to her again.
"NOW YOU ANSWER ME. AM I THAT BAD THAT EVERY FUCKING PERSON I LOVED DECIDED TO LEAVE ME?" He yelled in a loud tone.
"NO! You're not bad at all. Don't you dare to say that!" She yelled at him.
"Then why, why would you leave me?" He yelled louder than her, demanding an answer "When I loved you with all of what I had, loved you so mad that each and every bit of myself had your name craved upon it. Every moment I spent without you was hollow and meaningless for me. Each and everything started with you and ended with you. All of me loved all of you Avneet, then why do you have to leave me?" He screamed brusting out, he had poured his heart out. People just stared at them being the silent spectators Avneet was crying.

"I'm sorry Siddharth, I'm sorry its all my fault, i-" She started but Siddharth placed his hand on her mouth, he took one of her hand in his.
"No no no, its not your. Its all my fault" He said softly, he reached her face and wiped her tears "I should have never loved you like a psycho" He whispered intesly, it sent shivers down her spine. Though it was a whisper, everyone in the area heard it.
Avneet didn't know that she was sobbing until he hugged her again, kissed her tear marked cheek and left her, not before saying "Take care" With the saddest smile anyone could ever show, Avneet got hold of his hand but he jerked her hand away. She gripped on it again knowing if she let him go right now he would never return but Siddharth jerked it off again. The crowd automatically made way for him. Most girls were crying looking at the gut wrenching separation. The boys were too stunned to speak. The gang stared at the spot where he stood. Nobody dared to move.
"Siddharth!" Avneet called for him but he didn't listen. He closed his eyes and left with a stone on his heart. She fell on her knees. Her shoulder started shaking with each wave of sob which hit her. Her friends came held her, but she kept shaking violently.
Siddharth entered an old abandoned park. His mother and him used to go there, it was once a most beautiful park. They used to spend a whole day in that park. He walked down the pavement, gravel crunches under his feet. He sat down on one of the benches, staring at the dried out trees. Recalling all of his memories, Siddharth closed his eyes. Tears started flowing down his cheeks. He took a deep breath and a sob escaped his mouth.
Siddharth replayed all of what happened earlier, not so long ago. He wiped his tears and decided to go home. He got up and went out of the park. He started walking until he reached the mansion. He stared at the gate, he took a step to go in but he couldn't. It was the place where his mother died. Her killers lived there. He couldn't call that place 'home' he turned and left the place.
Siddharth kept walking until an idea hit him. He took out his wallet and checked if he had money. Yep he did, he also had credit card, perfect. Siddharth caught a cab and left for the Campside Forest. The driver left him near the board. He didn't enter from the route because hiding something precious on the route wasn't what you'll call intelligence. He walked one-hundred and fifty steps to right of the sign board and entered the forest, he walked a while and found the old stream.
It looked like nobody after him had passed this area for years. Siddharth looked here and there before walking along the stream. He walked on the familiar path. The trees there were welcoming him with their rustle, and were soothing his sorrows. Siddharth reached a small sign board. He smiled as he kneeled down to look at it. It had his baby hands printed on his mother's beautifully painted plank. She had drawn flowers on its borders and the middle was white where his baby hand prints were there. On top of it, Radhika Nigam's beautiful calligraphic writings said 'Home ahead' and beside it, Siddharth's attempt to draw a smiley fas was printed. He smiled down at it.
His eyes filled with water when he saw that old, almost broken sign board. He left it there and walked a few meters, a wooden hut came in sight. He couldn't control himself, he broke into a run, he reached the tiny hut and hugged its wall like a little kid. It was a hexagonal hut with a crown on top of it. It had double doors on one side and windows all around it. It was near the water stream so the soothing water sound was always heard in it.
Flashback:
"Mom look what did I draw!" Said the small Siddharth showing his mother stick drawing of a cabin he had drawn
"Oh wow show me" She said, he handed her the paper. It was a square drawn with zigzag lines on top of it. There was a dot as a knob of door "What is this?" Asked Radhika pointing at the zigzag lines.
"Mumma, this is the crown my cabin will have" He said excitedly.
"Really? This cabin must be very Royal then" She said poking his cheeks. He giggled
"Yep! You know, you and me we both live there. We have our things there" He said with gestured of his hand "Oh and you know we also hide there from mini mum. Ritika also goes there with us because she is nice"
"Of course baby. What if.. " She said as she turned the paper and took th pencil from him, she started drawing it in her own way ".. How about we add a few windows here. And tin roof here?" She asked as she drew them. Siddharth giggled as he watched his mother draw his dream home.
"Perfect!" He said clapping his chubby hands
"Oh look! Is this where we live?" Asked Radhika from her son showing him the new version of his drawing.
"Yes!" He squealed and hugged his mother.
Siddharth still remembered the day when his mother and him had gone to find a perfect carpenter who could build it for them. He was 7, he remembered how he had hopped around while his mother showed the picture to the carpenter which him and his mother had drawn together and he wanted it to be a reality. His mother had decided to actually get it built somewhere. His father didn't mind because he was too busy with Vrushali.
Flashback
"Daddy! Daddy! Mumma and I want to get this cabin built in our place. You know that little clearing near the stream in Campside Forest?" 7 year old Siddharth excitedly hopped around his father with the piece of paper in his tiny hands. His father looked down at the paper.
"Please Rishab get it built under your supervision. Siddharth really wants this place to exist" Said Radhika looking at her husband, he sat straight in his armchair looked at both, his first wife and his son. He handed the blueprint to Siddharth and took out his credit card.
"I'm busy" He said and handed Radhika the card "You do what ever you want" Siddharth looked at the hurtful expression which crossed his mother's face.
"I thought it would be lovely for Siddharth if his father himself got this cabin made" Said Radhika after composing herself.
"Ah, sorry. Ritika and Vrushali need me right now. I'll see you two later" He said and left, ignoring the objection Radhika had placed. She looked down at Siddharth and smiled.
"We'll get this house made baby, it's going to be our home" She said softly to him and kissed his cheek "Mumma loves you"
"I love you too mom" He said and hugged her, she tickled him and lifted the giggling little Siddharth.
He still remembered the day when his mother had taken him to the 'home' she had gotten built for him. She had said "This is the most precious thing we two are going to have together Siddharth, dont tell your mini mum about this" She had said with a small wink and he had eagerly nodded and giggled. They had spent hours on walls of it. Radhika being the amazing artist she was, had painted its walls with multiple designs inside out. While Siddharth had also tried doing his rough and sloppy art. Which his mother had later turned into something beautiful.
Wiping his tears, Siddharth moved towards the huge double doors. There it was written his name in his baby writing. He traced his hand over 'Radhika' which his mother had written. He tried opening the doors, they were jammed. He pulled harder and the doors opened. The insides of the cabin were still untouched. His mother's arm chair and his little bean bag were covered with white cloth. So was the wooden storage boxes. The painting on the walls were dusty and almost invisible. The lantern which hung from the ceiling was filled with dust, he tipped the dust out if it and blew air into it.
Siddharth mover towards one of the framed painting and wiped the dust off from the glass. He smiled at the painting. He took the cloth off from his bean bag and used it to wiped off all the dust from the pictures and paintings on the wall. He wiped a picture of his mother and him. He slowly and gradually started removing the white clothes and cleaned all the cabin. He went upstairs using the wooden ladder. There his toys were there, still scattered every where. He took one in his hand and cried looking at its condition. It was a wooden monkey, all dusty and it had holes.
He kept It aside and cleaned the attic. He went back down and opened the storage boxes. He took out his mother's canvas and all the paints she used in her artwork. He took them and decorated them near the window where she used to keep them. He took out the mat from storage box, on which he used to play and he laid it down in the middle of the cabin. He opened another storage box and took out all the books his mother used to read to him, he decorated them on the shelves which were on the wall after dusting them. Siddharth took his mother's and his own old wrapped mattress and pillows and all the cushions thy had bought. He went back to attic and laid them down near the window.
It was night now, Siddharth was done setting his little home up. He laid down on the mattresses and pillows staring at the starry sky before him it was peaceful. He could hear the water noises and the hooting owl. He wanted to spend a few more days in there with nothing but his mother's memories. He didn't know when he doezed off. His phone had rung a few times but he had ignored them. Now it was fully turned off and was lying somewhere in the cabin.
"I'm freaking out! Where could he be!?" Asked Ritika as she paced in the empty and dark canteen. It was night time, they had been trying to contact him. Avneet sat on far table staring at nothing in particular. Ritika had shouted for more than countable times at her that day. She hadn't retorted she was blank. Arshifa calmed her down when she cried.
"I'm trying alright, calm down rits" Sai Bhavesh as he dialed another number. Manjul rubbed Ritika's arm calming he down but she didn't calm down, she broke down crying on his shoulder.
"It's all your fault Avneet!" She shouted again looking at her. Arshifa held her back.
"Stop rits! She's already going through enough" Said Arishfa.
"She's right, it's my fault" Mumbled Avneet
"Well yeah it is!" Said Jannat angrily.
"Let's not fight here, Siddharth is missing" Said Lucky shutting them all up.
"Why is she even sitting here?" Asked Jannat from Bhavesh. He held her shoulders and calmed her down.
"Relax, relax Jannat" He said.
"She's right.. I should go, let me know if you get to know anything about him" Said Avneet as she got up to leave. Bhavesh held her wrist
"No, I'm not letting you go anywhere. Siddharth wouldn't want us treating you like this so sit back down" He ordered. Avneet looked at Ritika then Jannat. They both were not looking at her, she got her wrist out of his grip and left not before saying "I'm not needed here"
She left back to her room. Ashnoor was no where to be seen. Avneet sat down on the bed an started crying. She started sobbing. Why was she feeling this way? She didn't love him! She should not feel like someone was ripping her apart. She should not feel like someone was stabbing her in heart. She should not feel heart broken. She should be able to sleep without him! Why couldn't she do that? Was she so ignorant to accept her feelings?
