The fear of the colour red.

"Killua!" He desperately shouted to his dear friend. He couldn't stop the tears from streaming down his cheeks, much like the blood that was endlessly streaming from his dying friend. "Wake up!" He shouted, shaking his friend mercilessly which caused Killua's beautiful blood to soak his fingers red. The other boy slowly fluttered his eyelids open and stared weakly at the him.
"Gon, what're you doing here?" Killua, the dying male, managed to spit out in a raspy, hoarse voice.
"Stay awake!! Don't close your eyes, Killua!" He screamed dramatically in response to the silver-haired boy. Killua's shirt was drenched in his own blood, more scarlet than anything in the world.
"But...I'm so tired." Killua whispered silently back. He was barely audible and was struggling to keep his lungs up and functioning.
"No! Just hold on a little longer! Please, Killua!" Gon sobbed aloud, gasping for breath as he began to weep harder. He felt as if he was drowning in his own tears over Killua. The ambulance was just minutes away. So, so, so very close. The cat-like boy felt forced to keep his droopy eyes open, heaving and choking for breath. He didn't know what he'd do if-
"Hey, don't let me die, okay?" Killua said quietly, barely able to cough any words out he was so weak. He didn't expect to come so close to death. "I can't see...Why am I crying?"
"Shh, shh. Killua. It's okay! You'll live! You aren't going to die while I'm here!" Gon assured him, finally calmed a bit. He could hear the ambulance; it was so close and he could feel it. Killua however, could barely hear. Whatever happened, his head was hit way too hard for him to handle and the side of his head was covered in blood along with his ashen face.

The ambulance forced a halt behind the boys. Killua was rather close to losing his breath for good and he could barely feel his lungs moving as Gon sat beside him silently, proceeding to sob to himself about the condition Killua was in. He watched Killua's chest rise and fall with each breath. The women and men inside the red and white truck promptly rushed out to the boys, taking Killua from Gon and gently placing him down onto the gurney. He was then lifted into the back of the truck. Gon hushed himself to keep from bursting into tears even more. He hopped into the back end of the truck then sat down right beside the dying boy. His cheeks were stained with tears and his eyes looked as if they were bloodshot. He noticed how exhausted he was from crying more than usual. He realized how much pain he felt in his eyes which burned like fire. Killua breathed gently, his throat sounding scratchy and his eyes were lightly shut as he slept soundly. He was too close to giving up on life. It was one of the most difficult tasks to take care of, to live. Tears were stained on his ashen cheeks, mixed up with the redness of his blood.
The truck came to a sharp stop before the hospital. Gon took his chance, glancing over at Killua and staring at his blood stained shirt. He gazed upon Killua's sickly skin, observing the flush in his cheeks. The blood spread over his body like a red sheet.
"Killua...what happened to you?" Gon muttered quietly as he watched Killua being gently taken from the truck. Gon followed closely behind as his friend was rolled into the dark hospital and into a compact room. It held tons of equipment, only which Leorio would be familiar with. It had a cramped bed, covered with a sky blue sheet and it laid in the center of the room, raised high. Nurses and doctors paced into the room frantically then lifted the boy, stripping him of his clothing and placing him into scrubs. Gon watched as they changed him, examining his deathly injuries closely. There on his side and stomach were large gash marks. On his cheeks and forehead were deep cuts and scratches. On his shoulders were bruises and bite marks and his arms were bites, bruises, and cuts galore (his legs too).

"What happened while I was gone?" Gon sighed to himself noiselessly as he watched the nurses and doctors run about the room. They had already placed the half-dead boy onto the bed and started tending to him.
"I apologize, sir. You can visit him tomorrow but I need you to fill out some of his information. You may turn it into the front office if you'd like. Come back tomorrow if you wish to see him." The young nurse urged him in a gentle tone as she handed him a few slips of paper with her frail and small hands. She then started to escort him out of the chaotic room they stood in. All that was on his mind, was Killua.
-
Gon rose from the seat he was sitting in and quickly headed towards the front desk. He didn't like it how he couldn't just stay with Killua. It just wasn't fair! He clutched the paperwork in his hands so tight that his knuckles were turning white. He decided he would just turn in the papers without trouble and if he could, check himself in for tomorrow.
